Just when I thought things were settling down; by checking the other forum I thought we were past the 50% problem.

I'm running 3 versions of boinc without a problem; old; newest and 7.0.0.64, (64 bit version), and I can't reproduce any problems with the newest version of gridcoin.

Have you tried deleting "c:\programdata\boinc\gridcoin.dat" and restarting gridcoin?
Have we tried removing some projects and testing Wcg + malaria?  Also press "Update" on the project?

I believe the only remaining issue may be a non-compatible stamp in the file above.  Please let me know.

I think we need a comprehensive instruction manual or some kind of video tutorial for the new people.

thank you so much. Pls, explain also how get 100% boinc on gridcoin..

100% CPU utilization for boinc + min. 1000 average daily credits.

Ok, here is the guide: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.4368640

For the moment, it may not provide 100% BOINC utilization but that is not an issue with the guide, this is an issue which MANY (if not all) people are experiencing with the newest versions of Gridcoin. Rob is currently working on the problem and I'm sure it will be fixed shortly.

Can someone teach us exactly how to solo mine this coin with 100% boinc like which version of the client should we donwload as well as the version of boinc, which one to install first client of boinc? or it doesn't matter. how many project should be added to the boinc? will the boinc utilization will reach 100% already even at the first time of installation or we need some time to make it up to 100%. when i read the procedure how to mine this coin there is an option to click register in the wallet which is not available in the new version. Thanks

My BOINC has begun dropping to exactly 50% once a day with version 58 of Gridcoin running fine. The fix has been as easy as clicking on the task to bring it to the front, staring hard at my monitor, and counting to three. Not sure why it thinks that use 100% of the processor all the time means I want it to take breaks, but there are worse things. I also haven't updated BOINC in a while, so I'm not sure which version is ahead of me or if I'm behind significantly. Everything else seems fine though.

Are we able to use BFGminer for Gridcoin?  I use it for all my other crypto-mining so far so I was wondering if CGMiner is mandatory for Gridcoins?  One of the main turn offs for me with CGMiner when I first started this was all the virus warnings.  I'm aware they are false positives but I also suspect there are versions of them out there that are not false at all.

However since Gridcoin works so closely with CGMiner I took another look at it today.  Unfortunately I was not able to get CGMiner or GUIMiner to work after some considerable effort.  So out of curiosity I set up BFGMiner to see if I could reach 127.0.0.1:9332 and it seems to have worked on the first try with no issues.  I'm not getting any hashings yet but it is saying it found a new block on the network and it seems to be picking up the difficulty.

I was never able to get GUIminer to connect, but BFGminer did without an issue at all.  I did port forwarding for GUIMiner and made an exception in Norton's Firewall and even shut down Norton completely (Windows Firewall is also off) to try to get it to connect but I had no luck.  I also verified the user and password multiple times and made sure stratum was set to no.  I used the same settings for BFGMiner and had no issues connecting.

Of course another possibility is to run CGMiner, but when I try it says I'm missing a libcurl.dll file.  Checking what the libcurl.dll is and how many virus versions of it there are out they certainly didn't encourage me to get it.  The risks just make me uncomfortable.  I have several computers running the same version of Windows and none of the systems have libcurl.dll.

In fact,  I am very uncomfortable with my virus checkers and Chrome warning me on all the things I'm trying to do when it comes to CGMiner.  Ironically for whatever reason BFGMiner does not set off those same alerts and I didn't have to disable firewalls, make exceptions or forward ports for BFGMiner to connect.

I know you are working hard to get around the virus alerts.  But I'm hoping that Gridcoins mining console and subsequent payouts aren't tied directly to CGMiner.  I certainly hope it isn't.

For everyone having problems with 50% utilization, the newer versions of boinc were not compatible, here is the fix!

New Version Available:Release Notes: 1.1.5.1/58/7.1:  Install from RPC: Yes
* Dc7D: Made the Mining screen automatically shrink 30px smaller on small monitors.
* Sql Server: Verified databases are not being created for new users: Fixed.
* Persist the values for mining checkboxes.
* Added support for newest boinc versions.

Rob H.

My BOINC utilization still seems to be maxing out at 57% and BOINC KH/ps still stuck showing only "0" or "infinity"...

It happened to me where it went down to 50% the next morning after upgrading to the latest version... never got it fixed. I've just been letting it go back up to 100% slowly - it's at 65% for me now. Well I guess this bug will just make Gridcoin rarer since there'll be less coins per block for a time Tongue

New PC

1. Install GRC client (run as administrator)
2. Sync.
3. Install Boinc
4. Restarted the Pc
5. Add boinc project
6. Run and Sync the Wallet
and still getting 50% boinc only...how to make it 100% boinc utilization?

TribalBob:  Try left clicking on the project in boinc and click Project Tasks | Update.  See if that helps; a new boinc timestamp exists; it should be honored in the newest version; also try adding or deleting and re-adding the project or new projects; let me know if you figure anything new out that we can add to the manual; For me, I clicked update on Malaria and deleted my gridcoin.dat file and it fixed it.

I have no gridcoin.dat file... I have a file called gridcoin with no extension in appdata\roaming\gridcoin\sql is that the one...?

***EDIT***
Did a complete re-install of the Gridcoin client which has my BOINC usage fluctuating between ~10% - ~50%

BOINC MD5 Hash is correct, BOINC Block Hash is correct, but still showing only "0" or "infinity" for BOINC KH/ps.
Remember to also try clicking Update on the boinc project.
Then kill c:\programdata\boinc\gridcoin.dat, then refresh.

Thanks,
Grid

When you say "click update on the BOINC project", which project should I be clicking update on...?

My problem is not with a specific BOINC project, my problem is that task manager says my BOINC projects are using 100% of my CPU, but Gridcoin is reporting only ~10% to ~50% BOINC usage and my BOINC KH/ps always displays as either "0" or "infinity".

I did delete programdata\boinc\gridcoin.dat and restarted gridcoin, still no change, BOINC usage fluctuates between ~10% to ~50% (57% is the highest I've seen it all day) and BOINC KH/ps is still showing as "0" or "infinity"

***EDIT***
I tried "UPDATE" on malariacontrol.net since you said that was the same you had done, deleted my gridcoin.dat and restarted, still no change...

I think I'm making progress.  lol

I'm not running an external version of cgminer.  I'm trying to run it within the Gridcoin mining module.

However I have a message on the bottom left of my screen where it should say "mining", it is saying process has exited, so the requested information is not available.  There are no hashing showing so I don't think it is doing anything.

On the configuration screen it shows my GPU and I've enabled it.  I gave it values for worksize, intensity, and lookback.  I did not give it a concurrency value.

I also set the config file so it would pool mine because I was hoping to get some idea of I was actually mining.  lol

Any ideas?

Regarding some other things that don't look right.  My wallet was in sync but as I was waiting to see if something happened with the miners.  After a while the wallet showed out of sync and showed it was 3 blocks behind and seemed to get stuck there.  When I shut it down and restarted it again the wallet immediately showed it was sync'd again.

Edit:  After the restart it got out of sync again fairly quickly.
Try doing the pool mining later after you get it all running;
One thing you can do is start with guiminer, place the whole guiminer directory in c:\users\appdata\yourfolder\gridcoin.

Later you can try adding a cgminer instance from gridcoin, if you do, copy the settings from guiminer (you have to have the thread concurrency set).

When cgminer is hidden, you can click unhide it to watch to see if its setup correctly.

Sometimes it takes 25 minutes to resync; once its synced it stays synced for a long period.  The issue occurs with competing forks.

I always run cgminer externally to Gridcoin. So far has proven better for me.
