TribalBob:  Try left clicking on the project in boinc and click Project Tasks | Update.  See if that helps; a new boinc timestamp exists; it should be honored in the newest version; also try adding or deleting and re-adding the project or new projects; let me know if you figure anything new out that we can add to the manual; For me, I clicked update on Malaria and deleted my gridcoin.dat file and it fixed it.

I have no gridcoin.dat file... I have a file called gridcoin with no extension in appdata\roaming\gridcoin\sql is that the one...?

***EDIT***
Did a complete re-install of the Gridcoin client which has my BOINC usage fluctuating between ~10% - ~50%

BOINC MD5 Hash is correct, BOINC Block Hash is correct, but still showing only "0" or "infinity" for BOINC KH/ps.

wallet for some reason not syncing... anyone else having this issue?

There are two other people I am aware of who are having sync issues, and I and at least one other person are having trouble with gridcoin not communicating with BOINC properly...

I'm sure Rob will figure out the issue(s) before too long...

ChasingTheDream:  Hey welcome aboard!  Thanks for the compliments, I appreciate it, big time!

Imue: Thanks for the link to http://media.163.com/14/0106/14/9HTOLTPH00762OM6.html, that was a great article.

Slashka:  I'll be looking at the android e-mails from Leismith ASAP, please don't be discouraged; hopefully you two can create a new android repository asap.

Two users found the newest version does not create the SQL database; will be checking that out today.

I am messing around with Gridcoin today and found that when I go into Gridcoins mining console -> Configuration -> Create CG Miner instance.  I get the following error:

Conversion from string "" to type 'Long' is not valid.

I have not got mining to work in Gridcoin as of yet which was why I tried to do it.  Back to reading the thread again to see what to do next.  Tremendous work team!

Are most people running CGMiner external to Gridcoin?

Are all the fields filled out? GPU Thread Concurrency, Worksize, Intensity, and Lookup Gap all have a number? Chances are you left Lookup Gap blank right? Haha you can put either 2 or 1 in that... Not exactly sure the difference but I have 2 for the CGminers I have running on a 5970 or 7970.

And sucks to hear it didn't work TribabBob =\ wish I could help more - hopefully Rob comes back on soon. I had an issue with BOINC where I dropped from 100% to 50% but that was because of me changing accounts on my project I think lol, and it didn't drop as much as yours did down to 10%.

Jacquette, is it getting stuck at like a few hours behind? Have you tried doing gridcoin-qt.exe -rescan on the cmd?

Might be a naive suggestion, but have you tried rebooting your computer since it happened? I know for example my one computer, if I stop cgminer in order to let a friend play games on it, when I try to start it up again it only runs at 30kh/s instead of it's usual 300 kh's. Nothing running in the background or anything. But rebooting it brings it back. Makes me think something got "stuck" and just needed to refreshed to relink everything. Wouldn't hurt to try if you haven't already.

I will give it a try, but the problem isn't with cgminer, it's with gridcoin not reading my BOINC usage properly... But you're right, can't hurt to try...

***EDIT***
Restarted my PC, problem still persists...

I had an unusual experience this morning, I woke up to find my cgminer "frozen". It had apparently been frozen for ~4 hours and it showed the last activity as being "Waiting for work to be available from pools".

Also, when I opened my task manager, I noticed three rogue conhost.exe's on BOTH of my computers which seemed to be running silently as there were no open conhost windows to be seen.

Anyone else experience anything similar...?

***EDIT***
Also, my BOINC usage on the same machine that had frozen cgminer will no longer go above 50% usage but is usually much lower, around ~10% or so...

Gridcoin is not reporting any BOINC KH/ps despite the fact that BOINC is using 100% of the cpu's.

I have not changed ANYTHING on this machine, task manager shows BOINC as using 100%, gridcoin is STILL being launched as admin, I can see no reason for this to be happening...

***EDIT***
I ran upgrade from the RPC which did not fix the problem, I also deleted Program files (x86)\Gridcoin and re-installed from MSI, still no change.

Sorry guys but I'm starting from ground zero here with BOINC.  I noticed the link on the first page of this thread points to a version of BOINC that is actually pretty old now.  The prod version of BOINC appears to be 7.2.33.

Should I use the latest version of BOINC or the version that this thread points to?

I grabbed 7.2.33 and then decided I better ask before continuing.  Also there is an option in the BOINC install (7.2.33) about installing a service that seems to intentionally prevent applications from using GPU's.  I'm guessing we do not want to install this service and it is unchecked by default.

Is the group behind BOINC trying to shut projects like this down with the latest versions?  Why would they have a service to prevent GPU usage?

Again I apologize for my noob questions but I'm totally new to BOINC as well as Gridcoin so don't want to shoot myself in the foot by starting with the wrong version.  Smiley

I have the latest stable version installed in one of my miners and it works just fine so you should be good. As for the disable GPU, I've never noticed it (on the old nor the newest release) but I wouldn't say it's trying to shut projects down... it IS optional isn't it? Haha, I would just say it's for people who strictly want to use their CPU or something along those lines.

Just get the latest one and you are good to go.

Thanks Traderman!  I saw that link and was unsure because of this line in the instructions.  "Download the BOINC 6.6.38 file (current version) and install it."  However BOINC 6.6.38 isn't the current version anymore.  Smiley

I'll get 6.6.38 just to make sure I'm on the same version as the instructions.  6.6.38 is almost off BOINC's download page though.  There have been several newer versions since these instructions were written.

Thanks for the reply!

Welcome to the tream!

This instruction manual might also help: http://www.gridcoin.us/download/guiminer_scrypt_alpha.txt

I found Gridcoin when I was grumbling about the lack of information in CureCoin's thread.  Someone in a chat room mentioned Gridcoin so I finally read through this entire thread.  Let me say first off, Rob, you are top notch.  Very responsive and you obviously work your a*s off!

So I will be joining the fray as well.  I really like what you are doing here.  I don't understand the idea behind most crypto-currencies.  There are just too many clones now with new one's popping up every week or even every day.  However, I believe Gridcoin could literally change the world and that is why I'm so excited about it.

So I've got three computers now (not the most powerful) and I will begin working to set them up but I've also got three more in route that are set up with more intense mining in mind.  So I hope to be a contributor quite soon and will join the team when I get things working.  Again I think the development team and overall support is top notch.  I just don't see what else people can ask for.

I am super excited about this project!  Well done!

One quick question and I apologize in advance if this was listed before but there has been a great deal of changes so I want to make sure I understand how this works.  If I'm running three computers do I need to have a wallet installed on each computer?  From what I've read I believe that is the case but I want to be sure because I would prefer to have a single wallet if possible.
