Gridcoin is one of the few coins in crypto with a real purpose. I remember some people having problems running wallet with Windows 10, has that been fixed yet?

Personally speaking the problem is Windoof 10  Roll Eyes

A lot of wallet have problems running on windows 10 if i remember correctly.

There have been no issues with bitcoin core or dash on win 10 ... came right up. Not so sure I like it but that's another story.

News to me. I have seen no Windows 10 Gridcoin issues. Presently running v3.5.1.3-g-research.

Edit: Update. I spoke too soon - this may be what people are talking about: https://cryptocointalk.com/topic/1331-new-coin-launch-announcement-grc-gridcoin/page-971#entry197079

If so, it is apparently (maybe?) fixed now in v3.5.1.4.

this is the biggest enigma I have seen in few years I have been doing this, project is fascinating "if it works" as soon as I get paid for RoR I an staying for sure, "you good ooo you are good" (an old mafia themed movie comes to mind)

a!! secretive statement (on Mac wallet this is stuck that link can not be clicked need to setup windows wallet.. wow.. tell ya)

To register your CPID in the DPOR system, you need to advertise a beacon to the network in the form of a smart transaction that costs a very small fee.

yeah but this is for POS not POR...

http://www.gridcoin.us/Guides/acquire-grc.htm

maybe mac wallet is handicapped which it is in few places.. unfort.. but thats like many mac wallets.. qt and maverick people have a hard time to program for it.. often it does not work as expected

proceeding to setup windows wallet (but copying wallet.dat and .conf to the VM...) stand by.. this is a challenge now for me, breakin ground for the new "people"

----

think I got it! wow.. you are good.. wont disclose it though.. coin is really a test for one IQ ... perfect ... have a great day!

Please also read this: http://wiki.gridcoin.us/Main_Page to understand how Gridcoin and Boinc work.

thanks, verifying it all (and thanks for the link!)

have wallet open : inside gridcoinresearch.conf there is a line with my email address: email=******** the same email address is used on the boinc project, boinc project is seti@home , credits are accumulating but no payout.. do you know how often SETI "pays out" ? is it every 24 hours 48 hours.. unfortunately. but thats ok.. their priority is to find aliens so they don't really run "mining like" web interface (they should it probably would increase chance of finding them  Cool. to tell when who is paid and how much

don't want to stop servers and move on.. but forced if no payout... cause of the expense having to run servers, call me greedy

thanks much!

in summary have couple of servers with GPU's solving astro maps via boinc looking for SETI signal.. and one wallet open in front of me  (no mining from it, this is a very standard mining operation)

also tried a sample faucet to make sure wallet can receive payout (in general) and it can , 2 coins arrived as per faucet so that works and fully synced block wise

CPID shows blank in wallet's debug window , but thats because (probably) I am not mining via wallet but external computers

list cpids

[
{
"Command" : "cpids"
}
]

imagine how many aliens would be found if many would open wallet and do even 10% of CPU mining  Cool

my basic question is and it is pretty pragmatic and straightforward.. SETI project (or any other project for the matter) does not need wallet address but an email address to make the payment , but how does it know from email address wallet address to make the payment unless wallet tells the network somehow in some encrypted fashion because no wallet should broadcast PII (Personable Identifiable Information)

thanks for all for any insights into this

---

to try I am downloading boinc and engage wallet CPU mining.. against SETI and hope that SETI connects pieces together via common email address.. but still this all is very obfuscated and probably known to a few lucky once  Cool

I was just told by a senior member of SETI and crypto projects that "It took 3 days before I got my first PoR payment"  this is important to know to enlarge scope and reach of this project

so SETI must have a cron (run maybe every 2 3 days, checks the credits and dispatches payments) and wallet address must have a one way hash (email  + wallet address = just a wallet address) ... very curious now... you all got me baffled

Welcome to team Gridcoin!

Please watch this video to understand how Gridcoin works: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jX78dSvg8kg

hello dear community

I just recently like < 12 horus ago started to mine gridcoin via boinc project , I see I am accumulating "credits"

but yet to see any coins in the wallet (all is connected via common email in wallet conf and boinc setup) I also am part of team "Gridcoin' in the project and see the stats on project's page increasing

what is the average cycle to see coins arriving... machines are burning hot.. some % of coins coming home would be nice to see to validate the whole setup

thanks much !

Great news on the HT addition today. I hope shapeshift and all the other follow suit.

ShapeShift really oughtta hop on this one. Some of the coins they drag feet on supporting baffle me honestly.

Yeah, we definitely need some more support in there. The IRC channel is really starting to swell up!!! I try to be there most of the time.

Guys, we need more "customer service" at our IRC channel. If you have the spare time and are pretty knowledgeable with GRC and BOINC, please join us at #gridcoin on freenode to provide help and support to newbies.

Web IRC Client: https://kiwiirc.com/client/irc.freenode.net:6667/#gridcoin

or download hexchat from https://hexchat.github.io/ which is a stand alone IRC client.

Thanks, traderman. Yeh, us IMZ guys busy right now tryin' ta figger it out.

http://cointelegraph.com/news/115379/bitcoin-staggers-in-australia-as-banking-cartel-conspires-against-exchanges

In regard of Gridcoin, IMZ is coin-agnostic, so we are willing to help anyone with any coin*, and if GRC can be effectively cpu-mined here, then . . . that's pretty good!

Will try IRC.

*We think that circumstances here make co-operation an imperative. We have huge distances, scrappy Internet, and an uncertain regulatory environment. We don't need squabbles. If there are any Australian Gridcoiners here, come and register at Cryptoguild.com, our cubby house.

Hey IMZ, welcome to Gridcoin,

I have been hearing that recently the Australian banks have been terrorizing the crypto community. I think they are starting to realize that times are changing and not necessarily in their favor. Although, if they play their cards right they may get a slice of the new pie. Just join our irc community!

Hello from 'IndiaMikeZulu.'

Guys, we are an active group of Australia krypto geeks. At present, our Bitcoin exchanges are under flat-out attack from the banks. And electricity is expensive here.

And Gridcoin keeps getting mentioned as a candidate for cpu mining. (Your community members on Reddit Doge cryptocurrency do a good job.)

So we're interested to ask some questions. That is, Australia might become a enthusiastic outpost of Gridcoiners. Will pop in tomorrow.

Mark
