I think Groupcoin uses BTC addressing, so bitaddress.org should work to get a signup address.

Can anyone else confirm that?

+1 for a windows version for my old Win XP. I´m not ready for Linux yet. For the beginning I would be satisfied with any kind of address-generator, so that I can use an address for merged mining in Bitparking-Pool. Any paper-wallet-creator or something in the net?

Don't you guys see the date? March 2012..
It's back in play because it can be merged mined, and a pool supports it. See:

Bitparking is testing merge mining groupcoins. You can register an address an earn coins. This is an experiment to see if the coin is desired.
Ah nice, can definently get interesting.

I wouldn't bother with the wxwidgets version, now that I0Coin has been updated the rest of the merged mined coins can rebase on the I0Coin code and all get nicely up to date plus have the memory fixes.

Hopefully GeistGeld will be next to update since it needs the memory fixes as much as I0Coin did or more, but then hopefully CoiLedCoin, GRouPcoin and so on will all follow...

Here are my compilation instructions, because this thing is shipped with the crappy makefiles from early bitcoin releases.

Get fixed makefile.unix from http://pastebin.com/ncnG57t8

BDB_LIB_SUFFIX=-4.8 BDB_INCLUDE_PATH=/usr/include/db4.8 make -f makefile.unix groupcoind

Your bdb include path might be different depending on your installation - but if you compiled any recent *coin you should already know what to do with it. The most important part is to ask for groupcoind, as the wxwidgets one is even more of a nightmare to compile.

If that helped you, send your first groupcoins to 2huz72a79xir7cFEnNKvQN9KeBmGqRRUr1w Wink

So how do you compile as I tried in windows using wx an no clue what to do lol.

The interest is due to bitparking recently adding this coin. I0 coin was recently resurrected and re-added to bitparking as well.

I too would like a windows client, but will settle for setting it up on a linux vm.

How to mine GrouPcoin?

Using the daemon is probably easiest, as trying to compile the wXwidgets GUI was hard way back when and probably much harder now that maybe wXwidgets that one gets with one's distro is a much newer version than the old original bitcoin was built with. heck bitcoin was already using an older version than was current when i first came across bitcoin.

So unless you want to wrestle with ancient wXwidgets, the daemon would be the way to go.

I did upload though a copy of the specific wXwidgets I used.

Has GRouPcoin been added to a merged mining pool recently or is it just that merged mining privately is becoming more popular?

GRouPcoin's difficulty is up to 292949.03423883 now which is way higher than it was like hmm yesterday, maybe? Last few days sometime anyway.

Something seems to have been going on with this coin recently, the plot

http://galaxies.mygamesonline.org/plotgrp.html

shows it has climbed rapidly.

Also its value per coin climbed back up above that of DeVCoin not long ago (though it is not the only coin that happened to).

Main menu of such and related plots and tables is at

http://galaxies.mygamesonline.org/digitalisassets.html

Edit: wrong paste buffer had pasted totally wrong URL for the plot, fixed now.
