This is not normal behaviour - suggest you download a new image & reflash a class 10 microSD card & try again. I have the same batch as you & don't suffer with your problems - could be corrupted.

Is the SD card image same as the firmware on this page? - https://bitmaintech.com/support.htm?pid=00720140413044945482bs4xshkh072D

No, that is the firmware link. You need a rar file named bitmain.img - it has been uploaded by someone previously & the link is a few pages back on this thread, just scroll back a bit  Wink

Edit: Just added it to my dropbox in case you can't find it:

I just tried using the web interface to reboot (after re-entering net and miner config) and same thing - factory defaults on boot - (and the time before rebooted then shutdown with cli)

its the stock config - so I havent replaced the micro sd card

the S2 is working fine - so its just mildly annoying - but if the power goes out etc - it will be offline until I reenter the config
(even the miner config settings are not saved)

Its a new batch-4 S2 - so I wonder if thats the way they are shipping now to prevent sd corruption (or something)

Agreed.  In your position I would try this.

anyone else noticed (maybe all do this) - when you reboot it goes back to factory defaults ?

I used the "shutdown now -h" command at the cmd line in ssh and it shut down gracefully - but after moving it and powering back up - I had to reenter my network and miner configuration settings (also cant change web gui password)

other than that its working great

Interesting, mine uses the commands that Tracer posted (shutdown -h now) very well so far. In my case, when I tried to "reboot" from the gui it got stuck somehow with both green and red light "on" on the front panel. Upon swithing power off and on again, it revitalized itself. I am surprised how each machine/software combo is so individual-I had the same with S1. Each one has it's own little peculiarity.

I have not experienced that problem.  Have you used the web interface to "reboot" the device after making your configuration changes at least once?  I use "shutdown -h now" to power my box down and it's always held my configuration--but I'm not positive when the configuration gets written.

Try setting the config, then rebooting, then power down via the CLI and see if it saves your settings that way.  If it doesn't, perhaps your SD card is read only.  Did you replace it?

Looks like it, if you take that and another blade to an electronics shot they should be able to solder a new one on.

Here is what im seeing with the card in question removed as of right now,

The hashrate seems to be the same as it was when the card was in,, Its bouncing between 875gh and 1044gh.

I looked at the blade for missing pieces and im not sure but it appears as though i may be missing the same resistor as the guy in an earlier post,, but I am not sure.

here is what I see,

Im not savvy enough to know for sure if those really are missing parts or not.

Again any help is appreciated.

Something weird is going on there. In the first picture only 9 blades are detected, with one faulty. In the second, 10 blades with 1 faulty. Something else is going on apart from that dodgey blade. Do you still get 9 with 9 good ones only in?

I got Satoshi's avatar!
Screenshot of the config page please, and of the network config page.
I actually got it working, turns out all I had to do was switch it to DCHP, and it started mining, However now I have discovered that one of my blades appear to not be Hashing.

This is what Im seeing,

So I switched the blade to a different slot, and the problem followed the blade, which tells me the motherboard slots are fine, It must be the blade thats defective, Or is it?

I have a best share value of 461 after only 30 mins of hashing.
I had zero after 12 hours.  I'll check to see if it's woken up when I get home tonight, but I doubt it.  I'm guessing you just got yours?  So I would have thought we'd both have the same firmware version.
Nope, mine's batch 2. I've just reconfigured something and restarted so it's only been up for 30 mins.
Oh, OK.  What firmware version?  I'll check mine tonight out of curiosity.
I've not updated anything since I got it:
Code:
Hardware Version 2.2.1.0
Kernel Version Linux 3.8.13 #1 SMP Fri Jan 17 23:04:23 CST 2014
File System Version Thu Apr 10 19:08:42 CST 2014
Cgminer Version 3.12.0

My 23 day uptime S2 is best share 0, its just not coded.
Well that's what I was thinking, but I've seen other screen shots with a BestShare value.  I guess I should check my firmware revision.  If I can be bothered. Smiley  It is after all hashing quite nicely.

Anyone have any idea as to why my S2 is reporting zero as the BestShare?

Received the miner last night.  Usual case of boards all over the place.  Pulled everything out.  Checked all cables.  Reseated all boards.  Fired it up and configured it.  It's been hashing perfectly all night.  Right around the 1000GH/s mark, 53C, posting shares to BTCGuild as would be expected.  Just zero BestShare value.  Not that I'm concerned about this.  I'm getting paid for the shares I am submitting.  Just curious.

Thanks!

I have the same issue (BestShare at 0), latest firmware. Been hashing fine for a week otherwise.

Any clues?

Funny enough, my partially busted S2 shows great share=~400000 in one hour (since last reboot). Too bad it doesn't mean anything.
Dogie-is it theoretically possible that one slot not hashing could be remedied by the software update? Since there is an obvious difference in how it handles best share, maybe there is a software glitch? Did you ever had a situation when asic non-hashing was fixed by the latest software update?

Your slot won't get fixed, but its then likely the best share hits some sort of overflow and stops counting. So when the unit is first on its recording, then it just maxes out.

Hey dogie, you running the stock PSU on that 23 day uptime, or did you upgrade first?

Cheers.

Stock PSU, I have a big one if needs be but OC'ing appeared pointless due to the 200W for the next 100GH.
