I believe the longer you stay on the Bitcointalk platform make you to understand so many things that will improve your quality Post, which are some of the tools that attract merits for newbies to rank up fast in the forum. There are still some good posters who used some months and weeks to rank up to full members and, they really deserved the merits that made them to get to such position, and most of them spend enough time with some of the things that related to cryptocurrency that made them to achieved so much knowledge concerning decentralized currency, and you can do better than them if you can use other forum discussion to test your quality Post because some of the people that cherish your post to merits you are those that are in your local board which they understand your write up very well.

As a newbie the merit points you receive, gives you a morale boost. It is like a handshake of thanks, a sign of approval and validation from other users in the community. Your forum self-esteem increases however as you grow through the ranks merits would no longer have the same effect on you because you would see it in a different perspective than you are looking at it now. So enjoy your moment and I celebrate with you too. I see that you are now @ 78 merits. That good. There's still more merits to earn. Go for it.

The joy of having merits to show that one's effort is paying off is what I often wish for myself since I have been here, but it is harder these days and when I see someone who has accomplished what I only wished I had done, I congratulate them and simply share in joy, hopefully I become infected with your bliss.
I am happy for your growth and can conclude that it was your consistent input and technic of presentation that earned you the merits you have. Kudos and more wins ahead!

Nothing is difficult as long as you keep trying to get it. Merit is not something that is difficult to get, there are so many generous people on the forum who are ready to give Merit to posts that are considered quality and worthy of merit.
Now you have received 78 merits, meaning that since this thread was created, you have received an additional 28 merits. There is no reason to say that merit is difficult to obtain, you have succeeded in proving that merit can continue to come to you and this is very good for you in reaching a higher rank.
The success of other members in promotion to a higher rank can be used as motivation for yourself, as long as other people can do it, you can definitely do it too. That's what you need to instill in yourself.

I have been in this forum since 2017 and I feel I have a lot to learn from this forum.  I always try to learn something new from this forum.  I have earned a lot of money from this forum through signature campaigns.  I have learned a lot about cryptocurrency from this forum.  I didn't know anything about trading at one time but now I have learned a lot about trading as per the advice of the experts here.  But about merit I still don't know much about how to get merit.  I am not getting any merit even after working almost continuously I don't know why I am not getting merit.

Earning merit is really hard this days , since there are lots of things they consider for post to be meritable,
I Have been here for a year now, and still have a lot things to learn, but thank you for those who supported me to reach for where I am now,
but for me this is still a long journey, but its all worth it, thank you for appreciating my post, and giving me information's that i don't know, it will help me along the way on achieving my goals in crypto and this forum.
To be able to share and help others, those who only need a merit to reach a certain rank, post your most merit post, other post that you think is meritable is welcome and I'll review your post , please don't get mad if you don't received merit, keep learning, and don't get frustrated on setbacks.
People always think a lot in forums about how they can get higher level in order to gain merit. Some people think that it is very difficult to acquire merit while others think that it is easy to acquire merit, it is basically a reflection of one's thinking. Merit is basically given based on how experienced and knowledgeable a person is on the forum and the quality of their posts. Although it may be very difficult for you to earn merit, there are many knowledgeable and skilled people in the forum who produce good quality posts and are able to earn merit easily. So if you want to get to their position then you must think like them and contribute your talent to create posts that are crypto informative. You must have good knowledge and skill about bitcoin and cryptocurrency trading to earn merit then you can earn merit there only by posting. Don't forget, once upon a time everyone was a newbie like you, they have acquired talent with long time and hard work to increase their rank.

There are some people who aren't the first one to post a reply but the ones who are merited even though that person isn't the most knowledgeable or have more knowledge than the one who posted first because some experts may have explained some wrong ones and those people who corrected it will get merited from the one who made a mistake (the poster who post much faster).

I agree partially. But it does not always happen. Sometimes, they check and ignore because they don't want to admit their mistakes. Some people are arrogant, and their logic is the best for them. Anyway, seems like we are going off-topic. If English is someone's first language, they should not have a problem earning merits.

The problem is for non-English speakers. But they have some advantages too. They can participate in their local boards/threads and write their quality post and getting merits from local boards should be easier than global boards.

I understand your feelings OP. because I also understand very well how I was once motivated so much after I got quite a lot of Merits. And strangely enough, since then I started to add more effort to my writing.

Previously it was always just based on ordinary opinion. Then I understood that apart from good opinions, we also need to share some of the findings we get with fellow users here who need information.

So I decided to read more and be more enthusiastic about writing replies. But a spirit sometimes appears so big and sometimes weakens for a while. In essence, the most difficult thing is to maintain motivation and enthusiasm within us. Or in another sense, consistency is not easy to obtain.

I admire those who consistently maintain their writing so that it remains useful for everyone. It's as if their knowledge is endless. I realize that they definitely need hard work and spend a lot of time exploring and learning everything that can be useful for themselves and others. And it's natural that every time they post, lots of Merits come to their posts. Because the post contains the author's hard work in collecting information before conveying it in writing.

Indirectly you soliciting for merit and its what theymos said that we should not beg for merit, a merit is been given based on your quality contributions and personal discussion of bitcoin in which I know quite well that when you make a research and come up with impressive thing that forum have not heard before everyone will at least welcomed because what you introduce or bring is worthy to emulate, what gives merit is your innovation and what you have witnessed and practiced so far that's what should be the most thing so far.

Although I really agree that merit is hard to get especially now people want to see some valuable contents created forum members. Just be consistent for creating post and for sure there's one of that would be helpful nor be like by other user so for now congrats for the milestone achieve and target another new milestone so that you can reach to Full member rank. To many people create competitive post so be one of them and goals will surely get achieve.

Just like you guys have said, merit is as before. But all I observed is the more constructive post you make the more the chances of being merited. Sometimes your best post you think that will be merited may not be merited while a post you may even think not really valuable may be merited. Congratulations for your present achievement in the forum.

True. But you have to spend a lot of time here for this. Here is why: you don't know when a thread will be created. You have to keep exploring the forum so you can discover new threads and new questions. Sometimes, you will see that someone posted a correct answer, but they posted it late. If you post late, you are unlikely to get merits.

You have to be fast to respond. Or, if you are expert enough, you don't have to be quick. So, spending more and more time is they key to earning quick merits. Your login time will increase your experience.

I saw many posters can earn merit by answering basic questions from newbies like how to get merit, how to quote, how to learn forum rules and what Bitcoin wallets to use. You don't need to be expert to answer those questions and earn merit. I see being an average person can be knowledgeable and helpful enough to make basic answers.

Generally speaking, earning merits has been easier than ever. Looking at your post history, I see that you are active mainly in your local (Phillippines) board, which is seriously undermerited for quite some time and that probably gives you impression that getting merit is hard.

It's easier. But not for everyone. Especially for average people who usually interact in general conversation. Not for posters who exclusively write for their signature campaigns only. I have seen several members who did not earn at least ten merits in the last 120 days. They enrolled to the signature campaign a while ago and the campaign manager only focused on which section they posted. Look at the stake participants. Most of their merits were airdropped and they earned a very small number of merits in their entire forum life. They are like newbie shit posters. I think twice before sending merit to any newbie account because of the revolution of AI.

You can overcome this difficulty when you have good quality posts and people will definitely give rewards to these posts because talking about quality is still quite relative between one person and another and in accordance with their respective assessments.

To be able to share and help others, those who only need a merit to reach a certain rank, post your most merit post, other post that you think is meritable is welcome and I'll review your post , please don't get mad if you don't received merit, keep learning, and don't get frustrated on setbacks.
If I may give suggestions, make a post that is easy to understand and try to be involved in the discussion so that you have new knowledge. Even more important if you make posts people can more easily understand what you want to convey and they get the core of the conversation that takes place, thus there will definitely be people who will help you to ride ranking. Recognize your abilities and from there you will easily start to get the benefits of others and don't forget to help each other when you get other people's posts that are good because without giving us will never get especially if we are not a source of achievement

Yay! You've reached 50 merits and to mark that milestone, you decided to open a thread to talk about merit distribution. How generous! Might I ask how many you've got to spend? Nah, scratch that. Don't answer. So, you wanna help those who have little left to move to the next rank, eh? Yo, if you're feeling so magnanimous, you could join @Ratimov's cause instead of opening a thread which looks like merit fishing in disguise.
Instead of doing a merit review(if the first option doesn't suit you) why not look for threads that are merit worthy and drop than doing this?

Thanks for your understanding but don't forget that regardless of how good you are in using good vocabulary to write and the quality post and contributions you make in the forum if you are not growing in merit and rank you can't be regarded as a good good forum user because your growth determine how good you are here and how often you stay in the forum. I think the op has the right to celebrate an achievement whether big or small but may be you can advise the op to locate the thread where such celebrate are done. Thanks for your good wishes for me and the op I wish you more success too even as you keep doing the right things.

You're right, the thing is I have that feeling that the OP has something bigger to celebrate, I know getting to 50 merit is not just a days job, have been there before and I know how difficult it was to get to that mark (50merit). I'm happy for him but I see myself in him, because when I got my first 50merit I felt like screaming out loud in the Forum but I waited till I got to full member that was the turning point and I'm grateful for that.
And don't get me wrong, I can't direct the OP on where to drop his thread or post, is pointless and don't make it look like I'm a kill joy or something, I'm not the type that use words to bully others.😁

I've also been in your current position, getting the first 50 merits is really fun and will certainly keep us motivated to make quality posts. Never feel satisfied with your current achievements, make this a stepping stone to be able to continue to contribute more to this forum by continuing to learn.

Because your journey in this forum is still very long, there will be many challenges that you must pass to reach a higher account rank. Now you have 58 merits, you only need 42 more merits to become a full member and of course you have the chance to join the signature campaign which pays in BTC. Why do I say like that? sometimes to stay active in this forum we have to have a little income so that we are more enthusiastic about making posts that are useful for other members. The important point is to keep making quality posts consistently without expecting merit from members. Congratulations to you buddy

To be honest OP, this is a very confusing thread you have started.

Looking at the subject and before opening the topic, I thought it would be about you being happy for receiving 50 merits and expressing your joy. Turns out it's about you offering to review other user's posts who need merits to rank up and giving it to them if you like what was written.
Yes,  this thread was about the OP being happy to have reach 50 merits and also offering service to review other users who maybe in need of merit to reach the next rank maybe he can be of help to them.

I think the paragraph she gave her is the reason why you misinterpret her statement.

Really? You should've been here in 2018 – 2020 and then make a better judgment in comparison. There are so many members who want to aid others now in as much as these others are willing to put in efforts in churning out posts on point unlike what transpired in the past. In the past members were given neutral tags by certain DT members for what they termed "shit-posting" by their own judgment. I don't think we still have them now. I guess there's a renewed and more lenient sense of judgment on stuff now by those DT members who were unapproachable in the past. Perhaps life happened and a new awareness set in that makes them now see things differently. Whoever complains of merit being difficult getting now isn't doing much active posting and in the relevant sections of the forum.

Even I also thought so. I think OP is looking for attention and he might saw that most of the merit distributing threads get several merits from others. That could be a reason why he is posting such a giveaway thread.

I am not blaming him but I think he is trying to have attention from these merit sources. Everyone who is continuously posting in this forum to achieve rank must need Merits and it's easier to find out them and appreciate by sending Merit. I will suggest OP to do so. Otherwise this forum will be full of merit giveaway threads.

Congratulations to you for achieving 50 merits in the forum. In this long time you have earned 50 merits means you have worked very hard to earn these 50 merits. You can consider your 50 merit as a milestone. I would appreciate your patience as the forums are short of patient people right now. There are many members who create an account and stay active in the forum for a while then when they don't get the merit they expected they leave the forum in frustration but you are not in their group. You did something different than others and you patiently waited for a better time. Already completed 58 merits out of your 50 merits hope you can get more merits gradually.
Best wishes for your future.

Let's say you already received all the necessary comments and contributions needed on this topic as regards to merits earning and just to add to what has already been said by many other members regarding the topic, contributing and helping newbies to gain the knowledge they need and this may be connected to quality posting as other may have mentioned but this time you co concentrate more in helping those newbies who seem overly confused with what is happening around here.
This is one of the fastest ways to learn and teach at the same time and since your focus is on newbies it becomes easier for higher rank to see you as helpful and your efforts with rewarding at that point.

Between: I think this thread has really exceeded its trance hold and you should consider locking the thread to avoid it becoming a spam mega thread.

Our local board has been deprived of merit for years. I have personally observed that some of my fellow countrymen find it hard to gain merits due to the low merit distribution within the local board. However, despite this situation, there are still plenty of ways and chances to gain merit from the English boards, I hope that we all realize that too.

Congratulations for reaching this kind of milestone in which 80% of the newbies would not be able to reach at a given period.

Remember that this forum is all about sharing knowledge and information to everyone. Satoshi created this forum specifically in order to have the largest repository of information of cryptocurrency for everyone to learn and know about.

The merit system was only implemented in the later years in order to combat account spammers/sellers which plagues the integrity of this forum. Now that you have reached this milestone, continue to uphold the vision of Satoshi and share all the information that you think everyone deserves to know.

These days? Like was it easy earlier? I don't think so right.. It's not difficult, it's that you need to post more quality as compared to quantity.
Maybe you should follow the the Law where you don't think about the result and work on the content? If your content is good, people will surely pay respect by pressing the merit button.

Or you try to help people in this section, as many newbies come up here and ask some questions which are easily found able on the Internet.

yes, this is a good topic, friend, and indeed we shouldn't get frustrated because we don't receive a lot of rewards, so in the discussion what should be prioritized is that we must be able to enjoy the discussion, because to be honest I personally also really enjoy being in this forum even though my reward is there aren't many, but in my opinion, we shouldn't prioritize rewards, but we have to prioritize the quality of discussions and so on.

Same is the issue with some users who are also active in my own local board which also lacks enough merit source.  This  makes almost everyone trying to improve a more lively board lose interest because working hard and no merit given just kills the moral to post. But I always have to clarify with most of the users that Merit is something you earn by posting quality and reliable stuff and moreover the main purpose of the forum isn't actually to rank up but it's all about how well you have equiped yourself into learn vital information and skill in the crypto space.

Instead, focus on making meaningful contributions, and celebrate your rank upgrades as they come along. That way, you'll stay motivated and positively engaged in the community.
But they don't always need to have their own thread as it would be wise to celebrate the achievement of such [merits or whatever milestones] in a single thread.

BitcoinGirl.Club has created a dedicated thread for any user who wants to celebrate their achievements in the forum - but there is no compulsion to post them there though I need to encourage the OP to do so there. Reputation boards would do better without lots of thread of achievements - so the OP might want to consider this advice next time if he wants to celebrate his milestones.

Announce your rank up, merit or any achievements that makes you feel great!

You will never have to worry earning merits if you are educated in every topic that you joined for discussion. That’s why knowledge is power, if you don’t have the knowledge, your posts will never be appreciated by other people and you’ll never be merited in the first place. So keep your knowledge and motivation to learn burning, there are still a lot merits coming if you work for it.

You have made some good achievements so far, and I want to encourage you to keep up your valuable contributions. However, don't be content with your progress just yet. Strive to become legendary in this forum, which means you'll need to put in even more effort and dedication.

I advise against making merit posts, especially these type of posts are highly discouraged. Some people might criticize you, and that could make you upset, potentially leading to a decrease in your contributions. Please understand that I mean no harm; it's just a helpful suggestion for you. Instead, focus on making meaningful contributions, and celebrate your rank upgrades as they come along. That way, you'll stay motivated and positively engaged in the community.

It's never easy.... "Nothing good comes easy" - I mean, that's why you've got to buckle up and stoop into the interior nooks and crannies of the "growing process" - STUDYING EFFECTIVELY.
I remember a time I left the forum for a very long while, prior my health conditions and when I resumed, everything seemed unchanged. No additional Merit was added to me - I really began to understand how tough the system is - Cus I actually left a couple of post behind... I immediately knew I had to gear up, then I did. It's been almost 2years since my registration and things aren't the same as it were.
I wrote that as an inspiration to you - keep pushing!

Complaining about how difficult it is to earn merit will not make it come any easier. Merits is a subjective thing, everyone has their own reasoning of what a merit worthy should be, and just because a post gets some merit does not mean the post is necessarily a quality post, it could just appeal to another member at that time. It’s ironic that you complain about the merit distribution when you have been hoarding merits for the last 150 days, maybe you have been saving them for a merit giveaway like this.
Though I completely agree with most posters here that earning Merits is not really that difficult if you are posting quality stuff and not trying to enlarge your post deliberately so that they look like quality posts, I believe it is not really so easy for someone that comes from a country where not a lot of people have a good grip over the English language as most of the sections in the forum would require a poster to be able to read and write proper English.

In that context, if someone like OP manages to earn enough merits and rank up, that would be an achievement for himself if he has been posting all around the forum and earning merits for his posts from every section and not only his local board.

I can't say congratulations to this because you still have a long way to go and if you keep praising yourself on getting to 50 merit I think is going to distract you on what you should focus on.
And it seems you want to become a merit source from what you saying, easy OP,  you have a lot in your plate... The journey has just begun.

But I see nothing wrong if you congratulate the op for the  achievement he or she is celebrating knowing that it took him or her so long to get to the level he or she is right now because judging from his words, I think it was very difficult getting those number of merits and I believe if there is improvement in his knowledge of cryptocurrency, the forum and bitcoin it's going to be a smooth ride for him or her from now. I think the little achievement of the op will help to encourage and motivate him or her to study harder by giving more time for the forum to  learn more about bitcoin and I believe once the knowledge is achieved, contributing positively to the forum won't be difficult again for the op and that alone will help the op to get the merits to move to the next level of ranks. Let's always encourage the newcomers and low rank members I believe it will boost their moral to do more.

Reason why I didn't congratulate the OP is because of how some members always open such topics as this type with a celebration of getting to this number of merit or rank etc, I believe the OP has something big to celebrate in the nearest future... I'm happy for the OP and I wish you success too.

Even if the post is simple and yet it is useful and informative then that post will get merited by other forum members either a merit source or not. There are merit source who start a thread for people to complete a task like sharing the link of your good quality posts and get merited like what fillippone is doing. I think you will earn more merits if you believe in yourself that you can do it.

About the merit, I understand what you saying about finding it hard to get up to that number 50, this merit to get it is like planting a seed, it won't grow immediately but with time you'd start seeing the fruit of your labor. When you drop a post don't expect to get a merit immediately but with time when your mind is off getting merit it might come in a big way depending on what you have given the public that's informative.

Study and acquire factual information at first. Earning merits will easily follow if you already established your mind so posting quality threads that will attract good discussion will be easier for you and that the other members will find them more valuable and beneficial. If that will continue, you will earn consistent merits because of your hardwork and determination to create good and quality posts.

I had to qoute your entire topic because I found them very touching and I can also relate with all you're saying because I've been in your shoe and over tye time, I've alot from the forum and I was a very poor writer and the forum has really sharpened me to a presentable writer and I'm absolutely grateful to everyone who has made it possible for me to climb up to this height and yes it is obvious that getting merits is very difficult this days and I've read threads where users would receive over 50 merits from a merit source and you can imagine receiving 50 merits at a time, how motivating  and exciting that feeling can be.

I'm not in the position  to advice since you've been here before me but I want to add a little  words of encouragement  that you shouldn't give up easily not after all the efforts you already put in your account and I also want to say that you should try to make some Informative posts and you shouldn't be so bothered by merits but rather do the right things and keep the forum active with quality  and informative post.

I'll only say good job, 50 merit isn't easy to get depending on how difficult it is to get to this level. When you get to 100 merit I hope you're going to throw a party for all members of this Forum 😁. I have posted something similar before in this forum. But, I am writing it again for you. First of all, congrats on where you are today. You may know which posts deserve merits since you have more than 50 merits. When I was in newbie rank, I thought the same as you, like earning merits is tough. It's somewhat true for a newbie or below full member rank.

If you expect you will get merits for all of your good posts, this won't happen, my friend. Sometimes good posts are overlooked as well. You have to be familiar with the forum people. You never know which good post will be evaluated. Even though you have spent over a year now, I barely seen any of your posts. Maybe you did not see me either.

Quality is better than quantity. Take your time to write constructive and exciting posts that people will find interesting to read. If you expect merits from all of your good posts, you will be disappointed that you wrote a good post, but no one noticed it. It's not like that. You have to prove yourself by writing multiple good posts.

Great achievement and you are at a point where you have to do better. Getting the first 50 merits is an achievement that you achieve. But of course you don't have to settle for just 50 merits. Your journey is still long so there will be many tasks that you need to do. it is difficult or easy to get merit depending on how active the member is or making quality and useful posts. congratulation for you.

Those that are equal to the task will always keep going further. Everything is difficult to those who are not ready to learn. Learning is the first thing we need to embrace as a member of this forum and after that we can starts doing things amim the manner which we learnt from. Nothing comes easy so we need to work for everything we earn whether through stress or through extraordinary work input. If we keep saying or agitating that to get merits from the forum is hard then it will cost us so many months to understand that we need to work for it just like others that are getting it.

In every beginners thread they are complaining seriously that merit if giving tough time to get and you will see good posts but they lack merit and theirs a way someone will complain about the difficulty of earning merit now and someone will feel like the person is desperate to earn merit but we need to exercise our franchise towards these
By complaining, they think they are making noise and will be noticed by merit sources, then receive some merit.

From about 9000 sendable merit in early weeks to more than 39000 sendable merit recent months is very big change that makes ranking up more easily.

Details are in Merit source observation

Congratulations for your achievement and most importantly for understanding how difficult it is to earn merits. It is only when you have understood a problem that you will solve it. I understand the feelings when you have stayed for so long in the forum, but  the people who seems to be newer are having good growth than you.
I can say luckily, you have started receiving attention because your merit count has increased from 50 to 56 after creating this post. But then it is not all about the merit count or rank growth but your growth in bitcoin knowledge.

One thing I have to advise beginners is that don’t be too obsessed with this meriting system. The forum is not all about getting merits, but the most important thing here is we are learning a lot especially from the experiences that have been here ahead of us. And learn lessons from them so that we will never repeat their mistake and eventually regret later on.

However, if your primary goal is to obtain profits through participating from signature campaigns, then maybe you should work on how to get merits. Just enjoy your stay here and learn as much as you can. Soon enough you will be able to make constructive posts that will make you capable to earn merit.

To get merit in this days is much more easier than even the time I started the forum. I really struggled to get merit but not in this days that newbies who registered in this year has received more than 200 merits. Though to get merits is not hard if you contribute qualitatively to threads then you will receive it.
And to add to what "Agbe" said, I will want to clarify the notion that earning merit on this forum is not measured by how long spent on the forum, but how active you were able to contribute meaningfully to discussions raised and offering quality solutions to questions asked, as for example, member "A" might have registered on the forum since last year August & yet still has only 50merits, due to the fact that he/she rarely come visit the forum & contribute to discussion, while a member "B" might just be 3 months old on the forum & have already gotten 200 merits due to his/her activeness & quality contribution here.

Judging from the picture above I don't think you have enough smerits to send out after receiving about 16 merits for the 120 days and you already sent out 2 which you are now left with 6 merits, but however 55 merits should be 26 smerits left but from https://bpip.org/Profile?id=3492563 you seems to have spent only 10 or 11 merits now left with 14 smerit I might be wrong or true but I know is something similar.

Well I don't think you are on a higher standard to start reviewing post because first, your smerit can't cover the cost of reviewing people's post maybe I think you can freely give out to those post you feels that are good here in this topics instead of stressing people post their post here for a review. This really look so childish and I don't even expect anyone to post topics here for a review maybe a higher rank member would also support by willing helping to review those post for them to be merited.

However I don't really think earning merits are that challenging because only if you know what you are doing then you must surely earn merits that would probably propel you to the next level, moreover do not try to see this merit of a thing as a limitation to you rather devote time study broadly and equipped yourself with useful materials over here, maybe also try to be more supportive by showing interest in the areas were you found valuable or having much knowledge to what the particular thread is saying about.

Your efforts to help the members with few merits left to reach the next rank is highly commendable and I appreciate your kind gesture but don't you think you can actually send out your xmerits to others when you find out that the user teaches something that is useful to the forum or to you? I believe there are so many threads that has been created for review of posts and some forum established members has also created threads where users with few merits left to their next rank are advised to apply so they can be merited I think you can spend the xmerits you have got without requesting for reviews of post seeing that you have no much xmerit because you have a total of 55merit according to your profile.

OP, why are you holding your smerites? Do you need to create a separate thread and look important to rate the posts of several people? What posts do you find interesting? Isn't it possible to distribute your merits in the process of communication?
I am pushing all of this so that you can understand that if you are very sensitive about giving someone your smerites, did you think that other people would be just as careful with your posts?
I'm always amazed at the avarice of these people. You are looking for a worthy post, but you are sure that all your posts are appreciated according to your standards? Shocked Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

Be simple, and people will be drawn to you.

It depends on you knowledge and the quality of the post. Mostly people send merits whey they found a post useful. I can see you are very pretty well since getting 50 merits is not so easy for a newbie. But when you get used to it you will rank up fast. I can still remember my journey to become full member which still amaze me.

Just don't be obsessed with getting merits. Maintain your post quality you will get merits and rank up eventually.

The ease and difficulty of getting merits depends on the perception of each member, the 55 merits that you get indicate that you understand very well how to get merits. When you feel that Merit is difficult to obtain, that's when you start not believing in your own potential. If that thinking continues, then you will continue to be in a hole of failure. Positive thinking needs to be prioritized on something that is considered difficult, as long as you are willing to learn by adopting the way other members make posts, you will easily get merit.

Some might think earning merits is hard or easy cause thats depend on the user engagement. Some users were so witty and very productive that they can even earn merits daily and some are getting longer to receive even 1. Why is that so? Possibly due to users uniqueness some really are very good poster and integrated a lot of sense in a conversation while others are low class post.

I don't think that earning merits is very hard these days because the ones who try to contribute good stuff to the forum will ultimately end up getting good amount of merits from the members of the forum. I have also seen users gaining so many merits by posting on local boards because the members of the local boards really give so many merits to the deserving members that post regularly on their boards.

Although, I'm not a top merit earner by any means, but I can say that contributing good and useful information on the forum has really helped me to gain many merits without any doubt. I suggest you to contribute to the forum and be helpful as well good to other members then you will see merits flowing into your posts like water, but in order to see that you will need to create good content.

Congratulations for reaching 50+ Merits
Earning merits is very easy for them who has good knowledge about bitcoin and another crypto and who has good knowledge about this forum. but it is very difficult to earn merits for spammers. There are 109 Merit Sources whose profiles generate 33940 smerits per month and they distribute them regularly.  And besides the merit source, others also distribute their smerit. because for every 2 merits, 1 Smerit is generated for every merited profile. Then think that where thousands of merits are being distributed constantly, why you will not get merit? You don't get it because you always make shit post. And only those who are able to post good quality they get merit.

@OP, Earning merit is not really that hard like you think, if you are having the feeling of earning merit as your top priority, then it might not come so quickly like you expect it, but if you are yourself and stay active on the forum, making some helpful contributions in boards that are regularly visited by some reputable members or merit sources, then you will likely earn merit. Some of the reasons why a member may not earn merit more frequently are the boards where they usually make their posts or the quality of their posts poor. I am not saying that all that will guarantee you earning as much merit as you desire. But if you just stay cool and are more concentrated on making quality posts, then you might stand a better chance.

from the merit history that OP got, he is active on the local board. which may not have gotten much attention from Merit's sources. maybe he feels more comfortable discussing on local boards. and getting support to get more Merit. he can submit a post review that he made to the Merit source to get Merit faster. although not all Merit sources accept it. usually, local boards have a special thread to review their local member's posts for Merit. I don't know if it's on the OP's local board.

Earning merits isn't difficult if you post interesting and useful things.

All you have to do is not chase the merits and you'll see that they'll come to you quickly. I sincerely believe that writing a reply or creating a topic with the aim of obtaining merits is the best way of not receiving any for the post in question; this is often obvious and is not very appreciable. The primary purpose of the forum is the exchange of information and useful advices, Bitcointalk is not intended to be a race for merits to obtain X rank or enter in a signature campaign quickly.

Just take your time! I wish you all the best for your future on the forum.
This reply is the greatest advice I have ever heard in this forum, right now I don't know if anyone else feel the statement the way I feel it. Sincerely, I have been looking forward to get merit not without offering any good ideal and this up here just changed the concept for me.

~
I know that feeling of having a hard time earning merits because I have experienced that as well.
I don't know if there's a problem with my posts, or I'm posting in sections where merit sources aren't visiting to spread some merits, or whatever reason it is.

There was a time where I'm really having a hard time earning merits, but why focus on merits where it isn't the main feature of this forum? Knowledge, information, learning. These are far more important than merits. What's the importance of merits here? Just to rank up only. You don't need a rank if your main focus is learning. There are some threads where they are sending merits on your good posts like the ones in Beginners & Help section itself.

Well, if you really want to rank up, excel at something. Be good at something, and share it here. If you have opinions, experiences, information that you want to post here then do it. I don't know, but I think that helped me a little bit. I know I didn't start as a member when the merit system implemented (I was full member at that time), so I didn't experience getting 100 merits just to get to Full Member, but I think there's no other option for you OP, but to learn in order to earn merits. Just don't focus on it though because it's like you are earning merits just to join into signature campaign that requires Full Member rank at least.

That’s a good start. A lot of us are dying to earn merit not because it will increase our motivation but also because it’s a requirement if you aim to apply to be a part in signature campaign and get good compensation.

However, always know that earning merit is not the focus of this forum, but to gain knowledge and hone our skills in crypto so that we can use them the right and productive way whenever crypto adoption will be realized in the future.

Earning merit is really hard this days
When people first join the forum, they may find it challenging about the concept of merits to rank up, but after participating in the forum for a while, they will realize that it is not as challenging as they initially believe. It is only necessary for them to meaningfully contribute to postings in which they have something valuable to say and which will inform, assist, and provide solutions to people's questions regarding bitcoin or crypto in general.

those who only need a merit to reach a certain rank, post your most merit post, other post that you think is meritable is welcome and I'll review your post , please don't get mad if you don't received merit, keep learning, and don't get frustrated on setbacks.
You want to make this kind of move even though you are not a merit source. How far can you go with the little smerits you have.

If you need forum members that you wish to merit, Fillippone has already posted a review of that. You can check this post thread to see a sizable number of reviews of various forum users postings. There, choose the forum user you want, and reward them as you please.

That's great to hear that you have achieved that number. Remember, it is better to have a mindset about contributing without expecting anything in return (unless you are in a signature campaign of course).

I do not post for the sake of merits. I just treated that as a bonus perk while enjoying my time contributing in this forum.

Because no matter how helpful and valuable your posts are in Bitcointalk, you cannot expect a lot to merit them.

Focus on giving more value and not for the purpose of gaining merits.

People have split opinion about earning merit some may find out hard and some find so easy to earn it but what more best to do is don't stress out yourself to think about earning merits. Focus on learning since from this you can share good post which can be helpful to others or even quality post to read then those merits will just came. To many reputable users here frequently gives merit to thise relevant post so for sure they could see yours if you exert effort on each post you made.

Some members feel that they are putting in much effort but not getting the required merits. And I have seen threads where members discuss that many merit sources are not active anymore which is why merits are not been properly circulated in the forum. Some members that lack merit in my view focus on their local boards and most of these boards don't have merit sources that can distribute merit there. But I have seen many members being rewarded with merit for answering questions, contributing to posts, and starting quality threads. For me, the best option will be to contribute to the forum as much as you can and don't focus on getting merit while making your comments. Your focus should be to add value to the forum and gradually merit will come. I have observed many newbies that expected to get merit and grow in rank as fast as possible becoming discouraged and disappearing from the forum because they focused on the wrong thing.

Obtaining merit points has never been easier than it is today, especially after adding a large number of merit sources, especially in the local departments. All it takes is to produce a good quality post in both form and content. The most important element is that you do not think about merit points while writing a post because you cannot anticipate the reaction of others, and it is not permissible to request that from anyone.
Believe me, the most difficult period to obtain merit points was the period following the announcement of the launch of the merit system as an additional condition for upgrading membership. At that time, there were no merit sources, and no one had a significant number of smerit points to send. I remember I was Sr member at the time and only got 3 smerit points. It took me months to get my first merit point.

Earning merit is really hard this days ,
This is a wrong perception in my opinion, the mindset that it is difficult to get Merit only arises in the heads of people who are lazy to work in forums that produce quality, constructive and innovative posts. In the Forum there is also a service for reporting quality posts to get merit, Merit sources will review your posts, they will give your post merit if it is feasible.

All users have the same goal of achieving the highest ranking on the forum, apart from the amount of activity, merit is one of the conditions for ranking up. The 55 merits that you have earned are the result of your hard work so far in producing quality posts. I think you haven't released all the potential you have, try to try harder to go to Full Member. Remember this is not a competition or a running race, try to take things slowly and adhere to all the forum rules, sooner or later you will reach the highest ranking on the forum.

If the mentality or thought is, learning in this forum is hard, then getting merits would seem difficult for that person. But, if a person enjoys learning here, they'll easily see merits, because they'll distribute good responses. The discussion about merit is getting flooded, and It's the reason why newbies focus, mainly, on getting merits. They're many attributes to it, and not getting merits doesn't mean a user is not learning in the forum. A good learner may not be able to construct quality contents in the forum and they'll end up receiving lesser merits, since their content may not meet the criteria required to keep the clearn like word structuring, good descriptions etc. Hence, we get the merit to rank up, which shows the person behind the account how useful they've been to the forum, and if not satisfying they can decide to add more flairs to their writing or upgrade their bitcoin knowledge, by mastering other parts of bitcoin.

I wouldn't call it hard but you need to put efforts into your work like with time if you are keen to learn you will gain knowledge on different topics which will be reflected in your post history automatically that will attract merits. So it depends how you oversee things like for you it maybe hard as gaining it through local boards but if your posts are worthy enough then you don't have to worry.Like there are low rank members who have thousands of merits so it's about your knowledge and recognition.

Although you can also post topics in [self-moderated] Report unmerited good posts to Merit Source that will help you a lot if you find your posts are not getting merits.

First of all, I congratulate you on the achievements you have had on the BTT forum so far. Because getting 50 merits, you will definitely be very proud. So I think you deserve to celebrate.

Earning merit is really hard this days

Every member in this forum, definitely has a different point of view on this matter. There are those who think getting merit is very easy, there are also those who think getting merit is very difficult. Why is that? It's all caused by the mindset and knowledge of each member in this forum, which is very different. All of that can be seen, in outline, from the rank it has. So, for you to get merit it might be very difficult, but for other members, getting merit is not necessarily difficult and some even get it very easily. So if you are in a position like this (find it difficult to get merit), you have to learn more, especially definitely about crypto/bitcoin, and have to learn about grammar/writing. Because if you keep learning, and are very understanding about it, maybe it's most likely to get merit, it won't be too difficult.
And don't forget, all of that you have to do happily, and don't feel forced to do it.

Earning merit is really hard this days
It is easier to earn merit today and since a day theymos decided to increase monthly merit allocation to all merit sources in Bitcointalk. More merit sources, more sendable merit for distributions, more easily to rank up.

From about 9000 sendable merit in early weeks to more than 39000 sendable merit recent months is very big change that makes ranking up more easily.

Details are in Merit source observation

Quote
since there are lots of things they consider for post to be meritable,
You should not post if you don't have ideas for discussions or you can not help any poster, reader with your post. If you don't have such ideas, keep reading, learning or turn off your computer.

Never make posts because you want to get merit but it is what you are doing like your wrote in my quote.

Has there been a certain point earning merits was made simple before? What you give out will determine what you will receive back, if I were you, all i will do is to give more on quality post to get me attracted to those that can see meaningful ideas in what i post and merit my posts.

since there are lots of things they consider for post to be meritable,

Nothing more than a quality post.

I Have been here for a year now, and still have a lot things to learn, but thank you for those who supported me to reach for where I am now,

Being on the forum for a year indicates your long stay but being a member rank after a year of joining indocates things aren't done the appropriate way, you need to be active and always give out the best, learn more and have enough to give a d contribute to the forum.

those who only need a merit to reach a certain rank, post your most merit post, other post that you think is meritable is welcome and I'll review your post , please don't get mad if you don't received merit, keep learning, and don't get frustrated on setbacks.

Good of you, but i wonder how long you can do this and how far it can go because you're most needed of merits than those you're willing to give.

I don't think earning merits is too hard if you have a helpful mentality and contributing nature. When you traditionally post and share good resources you will obviously get Merits. But to get more quicker or higher you have to be creative and punctual and to post something which attract others. Then some of them will really appreciate your contribution.

To be able to share and help others, those who only need a merit to reach a certain rank, post your most merit post, other post that you think is meritable is welcome and I'll review your post , please don't get mad if you don't received merit, keep learning, and don't get frustrated on setbacks.
I don't think this is needed because already Ratimov is doing that and pushing them to the next rank and there are many Merit sources who are doing so. Now you just look forward the posts and if you think this post is special or helpful or contains something unique you may give him merits. So just search some posts what you like and think that these should be appreciated. I will help you to compare between constructive posts and avarage posts.

So as per your statement, you can only help 15 potential candidates to rank up since you earned 50 merits (All time) and already sent 10 prior to creating this thread which means you only have 15 sMerits to spend.
