how do i check what firmware i currently have?  i just popped in the sd card but im not sure if it got updated.

I'm sure there must be an elegant solution (perhaps the minepeon interface has a field for it?) but I never use the rPi so I run cgiminer (3.12 something) direct from an i386 board.

Start it up, go to Display (d) and select Verbose (v)

Plug in your device and you'll see:

Code:
[2014-03-06 09:57:46] HFA 0: Sending OP_USB_INIT with GWQ protocol specified
[2014-03-06 09:57:49] HFB 0:      firmware_rev:    0.4

I upgraded the firmware and now my BabyJet with cgminer 4.0.1 is mining 50-100GH/s SLOWER than it was previously.  Is anyone else having problems with the miner slowing down?  At fully stock settings, I get about 50GH/s slower, when I try to overclock I get a burst of great speed and then cgminer will freeze for a minute, try to downclock, and get stuck until the hashfast startscreen app restarts cgminer.

I have the 1.1 Rev PCB (batch 2) and whit cpu at 640MHz im getting 470-510GH/s, the pool inform 450GH/s without update the firmware.

I am also 1.1 Rev PCB (batch 2), but with newest firmware.  I've was averaging about 425GH/s at the pool.  I upgraded to cgminer 4.0.1, but went down to 345GH/s - 385GH/s at the pool. So, I went back down to cgminer3.9.0h2. Everything has been fine since.

Same here the I get the best Hashrate with Cgminer 3.9.0h2

Yep.

After it is done, reboot computer back to windows and mine away. The firmware is really worth it. Prior to it I could not clock over 562mhz and only got 370GH/s. Now I am running it at 580mhz and it is getting 400GH/s at pool end. Tomorrow I will bump it up to 612mhz and see how it does. Before the firmware update I had about 10% error rate. I am barely seeing any errors now.

For those of you it seems they now have an official forum, http://forums.hashfast.com/forum/software/firmware-updates/34-firmware-0-4

Also Seems the update was released about 3 days ago.

I created a user there, but apparently users can't post / reply / do anything there (?)

New signups need approval before they can post -- approval which we are aiming to do within 24 hours.

great! better than this forum which seems to have become a total trollfest.

I can't imagine why.  Cough, cough.

Let's keep the discussion and thread here, folks.  HF will edit out the disgruntled customers and problems it can't fix over at its own forum.  This will create false impressions suggesting there are fewer problems than there are in reality.

Agreed. Besides, they don't need my birthdate as part of registration.

Code:
HFA: Failed to receive OP_NAME response
over and over. Any ideas how to fix? (cgminer version 4.0.1)
cgminer 4.0.1 basically needs new firmware flashed as 0.2 won't work with it.

Firmware 0.4 has been released. It is backwards compatible, but should work best with cgminer 4.0.1. (And vice versa.)

Primary Download: http://setup.hashfast.com/files/hashfast-20140224-0-multiarch.tar.gz
Backup Download: https://mega.co.nz/#!bkBjwboL!cbkZgGh7EqIRviHDwJc6l0IOUN2IWLjQPcLFitejxu8

The above are for Ubuntu 32/64 and Raspberry Pi (ArchLinux) only.

For users on Windows or otherwise less familiar with Linux, the HashFast firmware update version 0.4 is also available via a one-click upgrade through our custom Raspberry Pi image. This image is *only* an updater; there is no MinePeon or web interface supported.

*DO NOT* write this image over the HashFast MinePeon SD card that came with your system (unless you back it up first). Use a different SD card instead.

More details and full instructions on the raspberry pi option available at:

http://forums.hashfast.com/forum/software/firmware-updates/34-firmware-0-4

Cheers,
Amy

Thanks, Amy!  Cheesy

It seems that HashFast is shipping me a new Raspberry Pi, complete with pre-loaded firmware updater and another MinePeon SD card. Since I'm out of town, I just SSH'd into my Ubuntu laptop from my iPad and updated the firmware from the above link. It tested fine with cgminer 4.0.0 while I rebuilt 4.0.1.

The BabyJet's hotplug issues appear to have gone away, but the wonky hashrates have not.

At any rate, now I can tell people that HashFast sent me a Raspberry Pi for my birthday. Wink Testing begins tomorrow, after my birthday.

Cheers!

Anyone have any idea how to update the HF Babyjet on windows. I would prefer to avoid the raspberry pi if possible.

Your best bet is to download ubuntu, install the iso on a USB stick using win32diskimager or something similar and run ubuntu on a laptop/computer (dont need to install, just run it as 'try ubuntu' mode), download the first link, extract, then in terminal go into the extracted folder and run
Code:
sudo ./field_firmware_update.py

After it is done, reboot computer back to windows and mine away. The firmware is really worth it. Prior to it I could not clock over 562mhz and only got 370GH/s. An RPi image that both auto updates itself and the firmware is planned, but not yet ready. But people have waited long enough for this firmware update.

Again the image linked to in the forum post is *only* an updater; there is no MinePeon or web interface supported. Do NOT overwrite your HashFast / minepeon SD card; (unless you back it up first!).

so are you saying use another SD card to update the firmware, and when the update is complete, take that sd card back out and put the original sd card back into the RPI?
what about the latest minepeon or cgminer?

Yes you've got it, that's exactly right.

The original sd card is self-updating for both minepeon and cgminer.

It does NOT update cgminer to 4.0.1, yet.  Do you people even talk to each other over there?  You specifically, have been a fountain of misinformation from the beginning.

Regarding this file:

http://setup.hashfast.com/files/hashfast-20140224-0-multiarch.tar.gz

Since that has a RPI version on it, can I just SSH into my RPI, wget the file, and run it?  There's a warning about writing to a different SD card, but that's for the auto-upgrade image, which I don't need if I just run the upgrade from the above archive, right?
