I see a lot of people here talking about gambling responsibly. Yes, that is something very true, but have you ever been a gambling addict?

To be honest in the past I have spent a lot of money gambling. What I mean here is that I spent all my savings on gambling. Maybe the nominal amount is not that big but it makes me feel like a gambling addict. I spent 5 months of my savings on gambling. Currently I am aware and am in the stage of improving my own financial condition. Have you ever felt like a gambling addict? and how much did you lose in gambling?

When you first play it is hard not to get hooked, the feeling of excitement the first time we gamble is very different from all the enjoyment we do, and once we taste winning we begin to feel that there is money to be made in gambling and it's an easy money only if we can create a pattern that can beat the house, but unfortunately our initial expectation is very much from reality.
The gamblers who are lured to addiction miss the part that gambling is for entertainment only and thinking differently will lead you to addiction, and it's a very costly addiction that will lead you to big financial losses.

Gambling addiction is one of the menaces of society and it's not easy to get out here, the government is setting up various institutions and restricting access to gambling to curb addiction.
I experienced all of this It's good that I overcame it all early, if not for an early interference I would have lost a lot, and its a learning experience and we have something to tell and teach and share experiences with people who starting to get addicted to gambling.

Have you ever felt like a gambling addict?

There are times that we will get hooked to gambling, but the ability to pull out ourselves and control the urges simply means that we are not addicted at all.  I have this kind of experience but at the end of the day if we can control ourselves and can easily stop and take a break in gambling simply means we are not a gambling addict.

Yes, when I run out of money of course I can stop and not continue my gambling activities. So that's a common thing, I had that experience when I was new to gambling. I thought I could get maxwin if I kept playing but apparently that didn't happen.

you are lucky to have a friend who can remind you before you go too far to chase your losses, sometimes someone feels out of control when they have spent so much money gambling but don't get the profits they expected, maybe many people have a fate like yours who have lost all their savings and possessions to satisfy their lust for gambling.

Yes, I think if at that time I borrowed money from the bank and spent that money again on gambling, maybe my life would be ruined and worse. Even though my savings had run out, at that time I still felt lucky because my friend insisted on reminding me not to borrow money from the bank. We argued all night about this, until finally I did what my friend said

I never felt that. I were not thinking to use gambling as a way to get money easily nor doubled my money. I know that those who addicted to the gambling will always consider gambling as a way to get easy money as their regular income.
Im not going try to put myself in a hard situation like that. I will be trying to take my reward when my bet was winning but i don't care so much when im losing. Keep in your mind that never try to think when you lose in the gambling and you need to recover your lose. You need to accept the reality if you were losing when you are gambling to avoid the addiction. Many people can't accept that and that's why they were betting more instead if stop then waiting for the best time to gamble again.
Im not following that habit. That's why i never be a gambling addict. I consider gambling as a way to get fun only by playing the game with real money.

I think that others may have different opinion than me but this is the fact.

I believe that if you have a single episode in which you gambled compulsively this not means you are person who has an addiction in gambling but Just you're a person who has not been able to limit his spending possibilities!

going over budget happens often. Have you learn lesson? The amount that you Lost Is the valide of this lesson (would said a friend of mine when talking about forgeries....)
The solution for the future Is pretty easy.
Set up a cold wallet or multisignature wallet to avoid this problem in the future

Is that true? I thought I had become a gambling addict because I spent all my savings. Yes, at that time I forgot myself and my emotions so I chased after losing in gambling. I thought I would be able to get my money back but the longer I gambled, the more money I lost.

At that time, I almost borrowed money from the bank so that I could continue gambling, but my close friend reminded me of the consequences if I lost money again because of gambling, my situation would be even worse. I didn't borrow from the bank and without money I stopped gambling for quite a long time.
you are lucky to have a friend who can remind you before you go too far to chase your losses, sometimes someone feels out of control when they have spent so much money gambling but don't get the profits they expected, maybe many people have a fate like yours who have lost all their savings and possessions to satisfy their lust for gambling.

You already know that you may be addicted to gambling and and lucky you it immediately realize this, even though you have spent all your savings on gambling, at least you didn't take out the loan to continue chasing your losses even though you are actually down because you have used up your savings. But at least you can prevent borrowing money and not experience more losses over and over against.

and how much did you lose in gambling?

Not much since I always have controlled budget for gambling and after some series of losses, I made a decision that I will gamble at most once a month.  I have some couple of good wins before that series of losses so I can say that I am still in the green zone.  The most I can lose in one sitting is only around $30.

Thank you for all the replies, especially those who share your experiences with gambling. I read all the comments but it is impossible for me to respond to every comment.

It seems like everyone has their own experience in gambling. Some comments also mention that you have been a gambling addict. I think it doesn't matter if we have been addicts, as long as we can get out of that circle. I'm so excited that I hope my financial condition will improve soon because it turns out I'm not the only one who has had an experience like that

On my younger days, I was near to it but goodness that it didn't. When I say that I was close to it was when I was thinking on what I should do to sustain my gambling activities, not related to online and crypto casinos but the typical betting houses and casinos that we go. It was such a good experience for me when I have realized that feeling is intense and hype and hard to get out of it. Well, I guess that having not that much at all was also a blessing by that time because I don't know how to do gamble without having any money and that's why my thinking during that time is to find some way to at least get or earn a money that I'll mainly use for gambling. Is that part addicted already when I was thinking of it but then it didn't come into fruition because I was able to fulfill that plan of mine.

Those that probably have the sign of being an addicted gambler, it's now time for you guys to understand what you are going through and what measures you need to do for you avoid it happening and from being worst because it could be your worst nightmare if you won't stop it. No one is going to help you but only yourselves.

I have never been a gambling addict and this is the behavior I most avoid. I have never been a gambling addict because I always try to continue to control the gambling activities that I do and the steps I take are to continue to control my emotions and remain consistent in continuing to apply limits on making deposits, as well as limits on gambling time. And as a result, these three steps can make me someone who can continue to control the gambling activities that I do and to some extent this can also prevent me from bad behavior in gambling, thus making me a responsible gambler.

It should be understood that gambling is a place to seek pleasure, not a place to seek profits or a paradise for a steady income. So it would be bad if we thought that gambling could make us rich and it would be bad if we didn't pay attention to playing time limits and deposit limits when gambling.

I've gambled once - that was when I was actually working as a receptionist in a casino house... Lol, I'm not gambling anymore and that doesn't make me an addict..
Alot have been struggling with addiction and that's reall!!... Therapeutic measures have been discovered in so many perspectives and, that's actually gonna die of when it has to... I'd say, there are people that can control and stop gambling without this aids though.

Gambling addiction is when you totally lose control of yourself and begin to chase losses, when you begin to have the urge to gamble every day and every time, whether you have the money to do so or borrow from friends. I have not really been in that state, and currently, I don't even usually gamble like I did in the past. Some years back, when I did some side hustle work, there was this colleague who was always gambling all the time, even on duty. Sometimes,  he could even ask someone going to the betting house to stake a game on his behalf. If you are such a person, then you just have to look for possible ways to control your gambling addiction and help yourself.

Luckily I have never been a gambling addict, I can be said to be a new person in gambling, I got to know gambling when I got to know crypto because I used to like depositing dogecoin which I got on the faucet to play on crypto casino site (The first crypto gambling site I tried was Bitvest)

There is a neighbor of mine who became a gambling addict, he even divorced his partner, he also lost his job, becoming a gambling addict is a nightmare that is difficult for everyone to imagine (don't let that happen to me).

Sometimes most persons don't understand the concept of addiction, they wait until they are begining to do crazy things due to gambling before they realize they are addicted but on the contrary that happens to be the extreme case of addiction as they have already been addicted unknowingly.

I have tried my best to.make sure I don't get addicted by regulating how often I gamble, honestly it's not easy to resist the urge at times but I try to discipline myself, there was a time I gambled too often I felt I was becoming addicted so I had to take a break for awhile, during this period I deleted all the apps and bookmarks until I was ready to get back to gambling cautiously.

It is believed that the people who have had a first hand experience of something are in a better position to talk about it, for gambling this is something true. I have been very close to becoming addicted to gambling and I have also had a first hand experience associating with a very addicted gambler as a friend and seen the terrible conditions it puts them sometimes and the other time the wins that are celebrated. There are good times and bad times to being an addict in gambling, but the general bad position that it can put you surpasses the chances of it putting you in a good position.
Gambling addiction generally doesn't put any body in a good position it's usually a disastrous end. I know what am talking about, I have witnessed how soem individuals that once had properties living what I can describe as a moderate comfortable standard of living turned out to become nothing only having ownership to the clothes on them by reason of gambling addiction they sold whatever value they had to feed the addiction drive. And it is from their experience that am cautiously taking gambling as a leisure activity to kill time and stress never as a means to earn money as that's where gambling addiction susceptibility emerges from.

I don't think I have become a gambling addict even though I still often gamble, but I have used a lot of money to gamble many times. I have not said that I am a gambling addict because I can still stop myself from gambling for a few days or weeks. A gambling addict will not be able to leave gambling for long because his desire to return to gambling is too strong, and if he is away from home and not gambling, he feels he has to go home to continue gambling immediately. I don't remember how much I lost because I never recorded it and just gambled with the money I deposited. And now, I think I have changed a lot because I can limit the amount of money I use for gambling and don't gamble as often. You should also reduce your gambling activities because you have to improve the financial position that you have spent on gambling. And before it's too late, do it now or you will regret it.

A gambling addict would tend to be one of two kinds of people: a) someone that is thinking they can take a short cut to wealth, by spending a little bit (often repeating the same mistake) and hoping to earn a lot back. or b) somebody that has been conditioned through habit forming behavior to return to gambling, often chasing a high that they got when first encountering it. I've been lucky to avoid that and type A is often characterized by people who have very little money which makes it even harder, as they may not understand the basic math that is working against them. I've tried to play poker and make profit from it in the past, but burned out because of the sheer patience, variance and scale required to make it.

Indeed, I have also became a gambling addicted in the past two years. That was a difficult year for me; I gambled with every penny I made while working a part-time job that paid me a monthly salary at the time. I always thought that gambling will increase my money, to the point where it got so serious for me that I even touched the money i was asked to keep and gambled with it before eventually having to pay them back, but it took a while. Since then, I've been pleading with God to help me stop gambling because it's not the greatest method for me to concentrate and instead leads to destruction. If someone gets addicted to gambling, there's no upside; all you gain is loss. Since I stopped gambling, I've never lost a dime. I will simply smile if I see any of my friends who have continued to gamble after I asked them to quit, since it wasn't easy for me to give up.

Yes. I've been a normal gambler until I realized that I've been addicted to it because of how I see gambling and how I act toward my gambling activities that is daily at that time. It seems before that gambling is part of my daily routine as a human and I can't live without it. There are so many negatives outcomes on the time that I got addicted and I decided that I need to change before gambling can flip my life to the point that there's no recovery. Tips for those gamblers who noticed that they are getting addicted to gambling, try to slow down your gambling activity and reduce your deposit amount slowly. I did try to stop doing gambling back then as an attempt to stop being an addict but it didn't work, I craved more on doing gambling just like having a withdrawal. Steady and slow until you can control yourself again.

Currently I am aware and am in the stage of improving my own financial condition. Have you ever felt like a gambling addict? and how much did you lose in gambling?

For me?, I have never examined it medically, psychiatrist, psychologist, or diagnosis related to science in this field. however, symptomatically, according to the references I read, and also based on my friend's experiences at that time, I experienced a gambling addiction disorder. even without the results of medical research that says, or claims, diagonase and all kinds of things. in fact, we can recognize it with our rational mind. It's simple, if something we do has become a very excessive activity. you can recognize these symptoms. It's just how much of an impact and effect it has on yourself. or, it has an impact on the social environment, family, if the behavior is irrational. Thus, you can assume that you have been indicated as falling into the addiction category.

However, it is important to understand that the symptoms of addiction have different levels. there are moderate, medium and worst disorders, namely gambling disorder. Well, I want to ask again, what is the essence of what you are asking about in this thread. Maybe, you can answer it in more detail. Referring to the contents of your thread, I can't comment much. because, it's not that easy to conclude that you are an addict. despite the fact that you have used up the contents of your savings in the gambling session you carried out. There are some more specific points to follow up in your case. It could be that, at that time, you were fond of gambling. then, return to your normal lifestyle. or, what you are doing is getting worse. Well, in this phase detailed information is needed and if you want to be sure. You can ask, consult, the experts.

Then, have I ever been an addict. I answered, yep. in fact, I might still be an addict. why do I say it like that, in fact, until now I still gamble. although in my previous case, I had a break for several years without gambling. Now, I'm back to gambling. however, with a broader understanding and definition of gambling itself. Well, this is important to understand, the idea of being responsible and having fun is not as easy as we say. because, in my experience, it will require an understanding of gambling itself, a definition of gambling for ourselves. Also, it involves awareness.  what I say, will be different from other members. however, with what I say and do, I now enjoy gambling more. without having to always force it, without having to harm other people, let alone us, and without any pressure between losing or winning.

all gamblers have experienced losing control of their emotions and finances. This often happens to those who are new to gambling. I think your experience can be an example that the risks of irresponsible gambling are very dangerous. But I appreciate the effort you put in. I'm sure that if you borrow from the bank and continue the gambling habit then your current condition will get worse because you will most likely also spend the money.

You have had valuable experience in gambling, hopefully you can always control yourself and not get trapped or fall into the same hole. Gambling is indeed a fun thing, but gambling can also be a very scary thing. It all depends on our self-control when gambling

Depends on what exactly your definition of a gambling addict even is. For some people, a gambling addict is someone who cannot stay still for a few hours without having to gamble. Or someone who spends his entire life in the casino, trying to catch that special high he felt the last time he had an amazing win. There are people who think think gambling once a month is a sign of addiction. Really, the addiction illness is different for everyone. Not everyone gets as easily addicted and not everyone gets as easily cured of their addiction.

All in all I think addiction is more of a spectrum. You need to know yourself in order to assess the risk of getting addicted. Or listen to a loved one that knows you.
