Thank you for all the replies, especially those who share your experiences with gambling. I read all the comments but it is impossible for me to respond to every comment.

It seems like everyone has their own experience in gambling. Some comments also mention that you have been a gambling addict. I think it doesn't matter if we have been addicts, as long as we can get out of that circle.
The problem is when someone becomes addicted, he/she can't figure it out and will be in denial. I wouldn't say that it's okay to be a gambling addict because many struggle to get out of it and they just can't. If you're alone and you're trying to get out of it, you'll have a hard time and that's the task that you can't do on your own. That is the reason, I wouldn't say that it is okay or it won't matter at all when you become addicted because you can get out of it, it's just all words, and being in actuality is different.

I'm so excited that I hope my financial condition will improve soon because it turns out I'm not the only one who has had an experience like that
Yes, other people also experience what you experienced. Learn from that experience of yours, be determined and encouraged that you want to improve your financial status and with all the suggestions given to you, you have an idea of how it should go and all you need to do is to follow what you think fits and best for you.

I see a lot of people here talking about gambling responsibly. Yes, that is something very true, but have you ever been a gambling addict?
Thankfully not, and I hope it never will be. Indeed, from the first time I entered the world of gambling, I was determined not to dive too deeply into gambling. Only to the extent and within reason. Because I really understand my abilities and my limits, as well as the risks I will experience if I get too involved with gambling. .Moreover, being in gambling is not the main reason to continue staying here. Because this is just fun entertainment and you don't really think about making a lot of money. The focus is not on gambling so it will not be easy to be attracted to always staying in gambling. So, as long as we can control our emotions and also control our desires, we can actually control ourselves in gambling. And don't ever think about getting rich by gambling, rather dream of getting the jackpot in the next round.

Oh you have made me to remember of my days in school when my bones were eaten up with gamble. I gamble a lot then and I lost very big, because I was controlled by my emotion and decided to chase my loss. I used my tuition fee to gamble and I learnt a head lesson from that mistake that I made.

I am happy now that I have overcome my addiction and still enjoy the fun in gambling. I no longer allow my emotions to control me as I do have a gamble budget and once I empty it, I stop gambling, so that I don't get addicted again because it is the more that you gamble that you the chances of getting addicted increases.
Reading your contribution was hilarious, gambling with your school fees was actually a lot of risk, I would have love for you to give me the remaining gist how you ended up paying your school fees, that's some serious mind, at least it will be lesson learn. I don't think I have made any reckless decision in term of gambling. The only thing I remember doing is placing different bet in one day just because I want to win but not longer driving by that vibe. Most times we allow our emotions take advantage of us while gambling, the best you can do is while gambling you really need to be smart. Gambling have its own benefits and also can be dangerous.

What a subtle reminder.  Back then in school,  I was so into gambling though not too extreme as in your case. I can't
Say i was addicted then but i gambled almost every day. Gambling to me then was just for fun, even though it cost me money.  Predicting matches was more of an entertainment  to me.  Funny enough,  I never recorded any win  while I was into gambling.

One thing that helped me then was that I wasn't relying on gamble wins and I had other things doing that were taking my  attention.  No emotional attachments and no thoughts of going extra miles to get funds to gamble with.  Seeing gambling as a recreational active will save us lots of emotional stress.

I see a lot of people here talking about gambling responsibly. Yes, that is something very true, but have you ever been a gambling addict?

To be honest in the past I have spent a lot of money gambling. What I mean here is that I spent all my savings on gambling. Maybe the nominal amount is not that big but it makes me feel like a gambling addict. I spent 5 months of my savings on gambling. Currently I am aware and am in the stage of improving my own financial condition. Have you ever felt like a gambling addict? and how much did you lose in gambling?
Anyone who spends a relatively long period of time gambling and has lost money that he was afraid of losing will feel the same as a gambling addict, with the difference that he has a greater possibility of succeeding in stopping the loss and restoring his life as an amateur gambler and not on the verge of addiction.
It is not the succession of losses that makes a person feel like a gambling addict. There is a complete psychological state that a person goes through that affects all aspects of his life, including relationships and work engagements, and this is the worst of it.

Yes and when you try to gamble longer like what has happened to addicts then I think it's the same as making your own chances to enter the addiction zone, that's the first symptom that other gamblers always do before entering the addiction, and it's true that maybe their chances of entering the addiction are not too great, but I'm not saying that it's impossible, because obviously if they always play for a long time then of course over time they will definitely become one of the addicted people and join the others.

Yes, maybe it's nothing more than just their feelings due to the number of defeats that always dominate, but I also can't say that those who experience a large number of defeats are not gambling addicts, because obviously the addicts are also like that. What makes them end up losing a lot? Well, it's because their expectations about winning are very high and it's exactly the same as experienced by gambling addicts who are always busy chasing victory, even though there is no guarantee so the number of defeats cannot be controlled.
To be a little more precise, it is necessary to clarify the idea that not only those who have successive losses are addicted or more susceptible to addiction. Also those who are lucky enough to win many times in a row. Quite the contrary, it can be said that they are the ones most likely to fall prey to addiction out of the belief that they are the luckiest. While those who always lose are obsessed with addiction, which is to compensate for their losses in the hope that they will stop gambling as soon as they compensate for those losses, which never happens.

First of all I wanna ask you that which purpose do you gamble? Do you play gambling with any other intention rather than fun i.e. entertainment? If the purpose of your gambling is any other purpose than fun, it is more likely for you and all of us to turn towards addiction. Or when you find that you are gambling beyond your ability to lose or you are spending so much money on gambling that it is affecting your daily life, then you must assume that you are addicted to gambling.
I see you blew your last six months of savings to gamble. I myself actually don't do this. I gamble a percentage of my total income every month according to my ability. If I lose that amount, I won't gamble anymore in that month. Moreover, if I do sports betting, it is convenient to follow my strategy. So still I do not consider myself addicted to gambling. However, no addicted gambler will identify himself as an addict.

Not medically diagnosed but I believe I has the symptoms; always had the urge to gamble, not being able to function with my daily routines ‘coz I was thinking of getting back with my losses or either earn more after a win. I wasn’t tracking my losses and wins which surprises me weekly. Fortunately I managed to limit myself theu the help of my friends who encouraged me to engage with other things such as sports. I gradually lessen the time and amount of money I was spending on my bets and so far I am doing better than my past as a casual gambler. For sure many of the gamblers would also understand tbe feelin of being in such unwanted state/stage.

In my case, I manage my time and money strictly. I only bet on a few games and during the weekend, with some excesses in the case of European Champions League and European League and European Conference games, which are games that take place during the week and not on weekends, so when there are games European champions league or European league games or conference league games, so I bet on these games and place bets on La Liga, Premier League, Ligue 1, Bundesliga and Portuguese league games when they happen on the weekends, but I prepare a budget accordingly. Separate for weekend games and European competition games.

This means I'm not placing bets every day, I'm not playing games of chance every day, I'm not spending money that I can't afford to lose. With this strict method that I follow, it prevents me from thinking about gambling all the time. I just analyze the games for a few hours and after I place my bets I stop going into the casino, only on game days and I watch the games and see more news about the games. I believe that it is important not to constantly play games, instead one should have other things to do in life. like going for a walk, watching TV and other things to avoid becoming addicted to gambling.

loneliness, the self-exclusion that a person makes from society. creates all the conditions to be addicted to anything that the person is doing very often. This doesn't just happen to adults, it also happens to children when they are constantly isolated at home and playing, within a few years they become children addicted to games.

It's good to be able to manage not only your money but also your desires. I also try to limit my entertainment and I'll tell you honestly that this is the best decision of my life. Up to a certain point I did whatever I wanted and I often violated the prohibitions that I set myself. This led not only to loss of money but also to other problems. Restraint is very important, and not only in gambling.

Management will always be the best thing in whatever happens to our lives, especially in finance, we must have a strong reason about why we have to allocate money to something, and it must go through several considerations to make the right and convincing decision. Managing desires is also almost the same, try to always not overdo it in putting desires, especially if we don't have the ability to do it then don't force it, it will only make you depressed.

I think what you experienced there is natural, breaking the rules that we have previously made I have also experienced it several times, in my opinion it is not too much of a problem as long as we do not overdo it, I always try in a better way and return to my original rules by promising not to make the same mistake. Yes that's right, self-control and management are very important in any case, whether it's in gambling or even real life, because it will be very useful to always be able to balance things.
Management and control would really be that crucial because if you do miss out this thing then for sure you would really be that prone into lots of errors and mistakes specially when dealing up with gambling. Most likely you would really be that finding yourself that get easily be addicted considering that self control isnt there or moderation with your funds which we know that it would really be that so crucial.
Dont let or make yourself deal up with things which does shows that you are already getting that engaging that so easily or spending up your money with gambling or something that it isnt necessary
on which this would really be molding up that kind of intent on which it would really be that making you desperate.

Gambling isnt bad as long you are really that in moderation specially when it comes to spending or finances that had been used up or else then for sure you would really be having that huge
impact when it comes to your finances if you do find yourself that wont really be that responsible for the actions you are making.

In fact, what you experienced during those 5 months can be categorized as a mild gambling addiction and i also had that happen, at that time i spent my salary for 2 months just playing slots for a while, luckily i didn't think recklessly about taking out loans, selling my valuables or committing a robbery when i ran out of capital, i realized and stopped when i ran out of capital at that time.  Now i am increasingly able to control myself in gambling, i only play with money that i can afford to lose and will stop when i win or run out of capital.

Well, I was addicted to gambling when I first started gambling. I remember there was a website, I think it was a PTC website which had a unique layout and a different approach than normal PTC websites where you watch an ad and get a small amount in your account. On that website, users used to collect RP points which then used to be converted to paid ads and then you would get paid based on the ads you are watching as every ad used to have a different worth, and you would get ads based on much RP points you have in your account.

The website also had gambling games. What I used to do was to accumulate RP points and then gamble with them. I was so into that thing, I used to win sometimes and then use the martingale strategy if I was losing and eventually lost all the points and didn't receive paid ads but I would still not stop. It was later that I decided to stop doing that and focus on what I was there to do.

Also, to get more RP points, we used to buy ad packs that would provide about 2k points for every $2.

you are lucky to have a friend who can remind you before you go too far to chase your losses, sometimes someone feels out of control when they have spent so much money gambling but don't get the profits they expected, maybe many people have a fate like yours who have lost all their savings and possessions to satisfy their lust for gambling.

Yes, I think if at that time I borrowed money from the bank and spent that money again on gambling, maybe my life would be ruined and worse. Even though my savings had run out, at that time I still felt lucky because my friend insisted on reminding me not to borrow money from the bank. We argued all night about this, until finally I did what my friend said
You really have a good friend because you are still trying to remind yourself not to borrow money from the bank. If you meet other friends, perhaps they won't want to remind you but will encourage you to borrow money from the bank, and they will also ask for a small share because they "helped" you decide. You have to listen to your friends who have tried hard to convince you not to borrow money from the bank, and following what your friends say can also make you aware to start reducing your gambling activities. This is a valuable lesson for you, especially if you spend money in savings. Now is the time to really reduce your gambling, and if possible, you need to leave gambling forever.
When you said that your friend always told you not to borrow money, it made me wonder how many of us really have such vigilant guards in our lives. A lot of "friends" dance to the tune of other people's plans. Even if it hurts you, they would try to get you to make decisions that help them. Its even more admirable that your real friend took this stand in this friendship situation.

Once you're sucked in gambling, getting out is like pulling a Herculean weight. But isnt the thrill and instability of gambling a bit like the unknowns we face in real life? Still, theres a thin line between fun things that wont hurt you and an addiction that will ruin your life. As you correctly pointed out, its a huge red flag if your savings are going down. Is it time for a stop? Or maybe you should turn this habit into something more... useful?

Well, as someone who is promoting a gambling casino on a public forum like this one, if you advice everyone to leave gambling forever and they all leave gambling, how do you think the casino you are promoting through your signature ad campaign will make the money so that they can keep paying you Grin? A food for thought for you.

Anyways, I did never advice any one to leave gambling for ever since I do not understand or know their financial situation, and maybe it's through gambling that he or she may receive his or her breakthrough, what I did advice is to never borrow money for the sake of gambling, and also never gamble above your limits, read all the rules associated with responsible gambling and adhere/obey them all, never chase loses as well as never take gambling as a business or a job.

In the end, those who gamble responsibly will always find happiness, regardless of whether they win or not.

I see a lot of people here talking about gambling responsibly. Yes, that is something very true, but have you ever been a gambling addict?
There are times that I acted like an addict gambler, like chasing your losses and borrowing some money just to win it back but the result was still the same.
I see this action as an early sign of addiction, and I think most of us here already experienced this especially on the early part of our gambling experience.
Addiction is not ok but most of the time its a wake up call to many and made them realized that gambling is not for them and they should stop doing it before it's too late.

When you first play it is hard not to get hooked, the feeling of excitement the first time we gamble is very different from all the enjoyment we do, and once we taste winning we begin to feel that there is money to be made in gambling and it's an easy money only if we can create a pattern that can beat the house, but unfortunately our initial expectation is very much from reality.
The gamblers who are lured to addiction miss the part that gambling is for entertainment only and thinking differently will lead you to addiction, and it's a very costly addiction that will lead you to big financial losses.

Gambling addiction is one of the menaces of society and it's not easy to get out here, the government is setting up various institutions and restricting access to gambling to curb addiction.
I experienced all of this It's good that I overcame it all early, if not for an early interference I would have lost a lot, and its a learning experience and we have something to tell and teach and share experiences with people who starting to get addicted to gambling.

The experienced gambler can judge the result almost sane to the original result of the game. The fresher should enjoy their game,So they was in the honey moon period of the gambling,if they get into the real game. They will force to loss some money and win some money in the gambling. So the gambler should accept the both win and loss of the game. It’s essential one for the gambler to play the responsible game at the crucial time of the game.If the gambler was in the position of loss all the money of their holding,he should take some rest and play is the better option. So he try to regain all their deposited money to the original value to play further.

I never felt that. I were not thinking to use gambling as a way to get money easily nor doubled my money. I know that those who addicted to the gambling will always consider gambling as a way to get easy money as their regular income.
Im not going try to put myself in a hard situation like that. I will be trying to take my reward when my bet was winning but i don't care so much when im losing. Keep in your mind that never try to think when you lose in the gambling and you need to recover your lose. You need to accept the reality if you were losing when you are gambling to avoid the addiction. Many people can't accept that and that's why they were betting more instead if stop then waiting for the best time to gamble again.
Im not following that habit. That's why i never be a gambling addict. I consider gambling as a way to get fun only by playing the game with real money.

I think that others may have different opinion than me but this is the fact.
Good. Most of the gambling addicts are actually not playing in small amounts so getting wrecked will be faster and they may end up getting loans and buried with it. It's better to stick with the rule that you provide, keep having fun, and as much as possible do it with small bets that won't hurt you even in the long run.
For me, I just like covering the wager amount that I set every day. A $100 wager will only need $1 in casino games or sometimes $2. That way you will still receive some bonuses like the weekly and monthly from your favorite gambling site if they have those perks in their features. It's not like I am aiming to be a millionaire in gambling, just having fun is enough, and then getting back the losses from the VIP bonuses.
I don't think one person could be a gambling addict in this method. As long as they don't regret the amount they gamble then it's all okay.
