I see a lot of people here talking about gambling responsibly. Yes, that is something very true, but have you ever been a gambling addict?

all gamblers have experienced losing control of their emotions and finances. This often happens to those who are new to gambling. I think your experience can be an example that the risks of irresponsible gambling are very dangerous. But I appreciate the effort you put in. I'm sure that if you borrow from the bank and continue the gambling habit then your current condition will get worse because you will most likely also spend the money.

You have had valuable experience in gambling, hopefully you can always control yourself and not get trapped or fall into the same hole. Gambling is indeed a fun thing, but gambling can also be a very scary thing. It all depends on our self-control when gambling

To be honest in the past I have spent a lot of money gambling. What I mean here is that I spent all my savings on gambling. Maybe the nominal amount is not that big but it makes me feel like a gambling addict. I spent 5 months of my savings on gambling. Currently I am aware and am in the stage of improving my own financial condition. Have you ever felt like a gambling addict? and how much did you lose in gambling?

Depends on what exactly your definition of a gambling addict even is. For some people, a gambling addict is someone who cannot stay still for a few hours without having to gamble. Or someone who spends his entire life in the casino, trying to catch that special high he felt the last time he had an amazing win. There are people who think think gambling once a month is a sign of addiction. Really, the addiction illness is different for everyone. Not everyone gets as easily addicted and not everyone gets as easily cured of their addiction.

All in all I think addiction is more of a spectrum. You need to know yourself in order to assess the risk of getting addicted. Or listen to a loved one that knows you.

I have not been a gambling addict before, so I don't really know what that feels like, and this has been as a result of me knowing when to call it a stop when I'm gambling, I mean out an end to the games every day when I have gambled up to my limit.

People who have gambled for years and are obsessed with game results and their desire to win all the time are most likely the people who fall into becoming addicted to gambling.

I know it's easier to say with our mouths that we have all our plans to gamble responsibly set out, but deep down, my own set-up goal has been working for me, and I don't think I can ever break that. Become a gambling addict is easy, but coming out of it is what you really have to do unless you have some kind of external support to push you out of it.

It is obvious from what you have said here, it seems you once was addicted to gambling because if you did not have had the experience, you would not have made this thread. It is nice you posted it here and I will encourage you to make us know the steps you took to stop your addiction because other addicted gamblers could see, read and learn from your strategies implored to curtail your gambling addiction. It could be of help OP.

I am beginning to realise that people get addicted to gambling and not realising it. They feel it is for fun but do not bother to do self analysis to know if truly they are being addicted they only cover it up with the fact that they feel like increasing their gambling budget and unknown to them they are addicted to gambling. I believe this was the same experience with OP before OP realised his savings are all gone for gambling which dawned on him that he was addicted to gambling. I believe OP realised this on time and is working towards it.

It is believed that the people who have had a first hand experience of something are in a better position to talk about it, for gambling this is something true. I have been very close to becoming addicted to gambling and I have also had a first hand experience associating with a very addicted gambler as a friend and seen the terrible conditions it puts them sometimes and the other time the wins that are celebrated. There are good times and bad times to being an addict in gambling, but the general bad position that it can put you surpasses the chances of it putting you in a good position.

Perceptions of gambling addiction always vary according to each user. There are those who think they are addicted because it is difficult to give up their gambling habit and there are also those who think they are addicted to doing anything beyond normal, such as spending all their savings or selling other valuables to carry out gambling activities.
I never considered myself addicted because I have always been able to control myself even though I often lost. The money I spent at the gambling place had been prepared beforehand, there was no regret afterwards because the money was considered as buying pleasure that could entertain myself after being bored at work.

I am not addicted to gambling, because I can spend several days in a row without gambling. Though, I have personally felt the craving for gambling further when I am having a good session.
I have also noticed there is a lot of discussion about gambling addiction around here, and I have no doubt there are many people addicted to gambling here in the Bitcointalk forum, at least, most of them are pretty much aware of their situation and are looking to improve their situation and control their impulses.

I sincerely hope anyone who is going through such hard situation can overcome it and get back to wagering money they can afford to lose, with conplete responsability and not become one of the many tragic cases we read around here.

Luckily, from the start of my gambling until now I am not addicted to gambling and can still control my emotions when playing. I don't know why there are people who become addicted to gambling, because I don't feel that gambling activities can make me addicted. Yes, there were times when I felt like I wanted to continue playing and tended to be aggressive, but a few moments later I realized this and didn't continue playing anymore.

I gamble but I made a decision never to gamble above a particular amount at a time. No matter how certain I am of the outcome I try to guide myself about the maximum amount of money I will put into it.

I had a friend in college that got seriously adicted that he spent all his school fees on a game that did not play out as planned. He went through a whole bunch of problem trying to come out of that situation and now he has learnt his lesson and doesn't put much money into gambling.

If we are wise enough to gamble the right way, we won't be talking about addiction that much.

Anyone who spends a relatively long period of time gambling and has lost money that he was afraid of losing will feel the same as a gambling addict, with the difference that he has a greater possibility of succeeding in stopping the loss and restoring his life as an amateur gambler and not on the verge of addiction.
It is not the succession of losses that makes a person feel like a gambling addict. There is a complete psychological state that a person goes through that affects all aspects of his life, including relationships and work engagements, and this is the worst of it.

Yes and when you try to gamble longer like what has happened to addicts then I think it's the same as making your own chances to enter the addiction zone, that's the first symptom that other gamblers always do before entering the addiction, and it's true that maybe their chances of entering the addiction are not too great, but I'm not saying that it's impossible, because obviously if they always play for a long time then of course over time they will definitely become one of the addicted people and join the others.

Yes, maybe it's nothing more than just their feelings due to the number of defeats that always dominate, but I also can't say that those who experience a large number of defeats are not gambling addicts, because obviously the addicts are also like that. What makes them end up losing a lot? Well, it's because their expectations about winning are very high and it's exactly the same as experienced by gambling addicts who are always busy chasing victory, even though there is no guarantee so the number of defeats cannot be controlled.

You should have created a poll for this so we'll know how many of us here will vote that they are, I was an addict for the early part or days of my gambling days I was so excited back then especially since I always have a fair chance sometimes winning but most of the time losing, you know that you're addicted when you only count your winning and disregard the losses.

And you're always excited to go back to the platform even after you call it a day or log out your mind wants to go back again and think of the best strategy to employ next you're on the platform.

I'm just glad that I overcame this phase of my gambling days, it was a struggle back then to fight the addiction.

Addiction has negative impacts that are not good if we experience it. Big and small, my friends and I who are involved in gambling games have experienced it.
Spending 5 months of savings on gambling for gamblers who are still actively playing until now is not much because we have to admit that they have already spent some of their assets on gambling.
I'm the type of gambler who doesn't spend a lot of savings on gambling, but I can't count how much money I've spent.

The question should be have u feel you are gambling addicted? I don't think it's that easy to know that you are gambling addicted except if you are in that stage that you begin to feel remorseful of your loss and guilt of the bad decisions you made when playing. The only solution to even know that is to check your records if you have been doing well or you have only been greasing the casino with your money.

Sorry, it does happen because everyday in gambling isn't father Christmas days. You should have taken some break or don't you think it's really bad practice of you to waste 5 month savings into gambling. As you said, the amount could be small in others eyes but if you could use 5 month to save up such an amount, then only you know how important it is to you but then you wasted everything on gambling.

Unlike trading that you need to look at indicators and other technical analysis before making trade, you need skills to survive gambling and luck but since both are risk, the next thing you should always put on guide is risk management, you might not like it but trust me, it helpful in gambling addiction.

No, not everyone that can be a gambling addicts for any reason except when we are unable to manage ourselves the appropriate way expected of an average gambler, but also we can assumed that some of us would have been indirectly into gambling addiction by the way we gamble when we are not applying warning to the extent of how we gamble responsibly, or when we got easily moved by our emotions while gambling, but this may not actually be our regular actions, but what we do occasionally that we don't count as being under the influence of addiction.

In my case, I have never experienced being addicted to gambling, yes, I enjoy gambling, but I have never reached the point where I run out of money or go into debt just because of gambling. The only thing I do is that I don't gamble every day, if I do gamble I will only allocate a little money for it. I also don't think about winning a lot of money in gambling. If you win, it's luck. If you lose, it's okay as long as you enjoy it.

I can't say whether I am addicted to gambling or not but I like to gamble but when I lose gambling I think I will never gamble again. But later I went to gamble again. Although I don't gamble the next day, but after a long break, I am excited to gamble again. But I always gamble for fun but never know when it becomes addiction. I am not a deep gambling addict but it is true that I have lost a lot of money through gambling
I think you chose gambling as a pastime because when you lose your money gambling you stop gambling for a few days. If you were totally addicted to gambling you would immediately gamble to get back your lost money.  But I will tell you that the way you gamble now is fine for you. But the less you gamble the better it will be for us. I too have lost a lot of money gambling and now I am thinking of gambling very little for a few months.

A couple of years ago I gamble every single day but that was fair and I think it cannot be called as an addiction as I have limits on how much I am willing to donate or lose a week since it is is a lottery. You can be an addict if you cannot control yourself with gambling.
I tried to gamble a couple of times through online casino site and it's kinda addicting especially if you have a solo budget in playing and you really want to hit the jackpot prize. Hence, I don't call myself an addict because i know what i am supposed to do and I know my self limitations. Also, as a someone who has a genetic blood of a gambler, I wan't to make an action so i can prevent myself to become just like some of my relatives who are still addictively playing a casino gambling and card game. So, much better to know how to control yourself in all aspects in gambling.

No, I've never been hooked on gambling. I learned how to control myself when I was young (thanks to Dad). Your moving story shows how hard it is to go from gambling without limits to desperately needing to get your finances back on track. The picture you painted is painfully familiar—savings gone and the question of addiction always hanging over head.

You are changing from someone who is almost addicted to someone who is consciously trying to get ahead financially. This is both a brave and important change. It brings up an old question: How deep does one have to go into loss before they can come up for air? Your determination to fix your financial position is not only a personal victory, but also a light for many others who are going through the same thing.

I have never been a gambling addict or had an addiction to anything so I don't have a clue how the experience might be but from the narratives of those that have falling victim of addiction particularly gambling I can say it's not a beautiful but a scary experience probably something I'll never wish my enemy.

However, it is a condition that can ruin the life of a man if not checked and given urgent attention by those close like friends and family members, and on the part of the addict he/she has to recognition his addictive tendencies and accept the reality of your condition which is the first step to finding solution to overcome the addiction.
