I see a lot of people here talking about gambling responsibly. Yes, that is something very true, but have you ever been a gambling addict?

To be honest in the past I have spent a lot of money gambling. What I mean here is that I spent all my savings on gambling. Maybe the nominal amount is not that big but it makes me feel like a gambling addict. I spent 5 months of my savings on gambling. Currently I am aware and am in the stage of improving my own financial condition. Have you ever felt like a gambling addict? and how much did you lose in gambling?
I can't say whether I am addicted to gambling or not but I like to gamble but when I lose gambling I think I will never gamble again. But later I went to gamble again. Although I don't gamble the next day, but after a long break, I am excited to gamble again. But I always gamble for fun but never know when it becomes addiction. I am not a deep gambling addict but it is true that I have lost a lot of money through gambling
Those who are addicted to gambling sometimes don't realize this because they have spent a lot of their money gambling, but if you see that gambling is just for fun, I don't think you will ever experience a gambling addiction because you can control yourself not to. gambling and if you lose in the bet you play, of course you will be able to easily not take your other money to continue the gambling you are playing so that you experience defeat in the game you are playing.
Yes, a gambling addict never realizes that he is addicted.  I've been addicted to playing blackjack for quite some time now I feel like maybe I can make a profit when I go there and make a profit but sometimes I lose but I can't quit the game.  This is called addiction.  I can guess myself that I am slowly getting into a deep addiction there so now I am trying to control myself and quit playing blackjack. Gambling gives us pleasure but also causes a lot of financial loss and hinders our normal life. So it is very difficult to always avoid such a terrible habit as gambling, but we should avoid it as much as possible.

For now, no, I haven't reached the level of addiction in any of my gambling activities, even though I often gamble, but that doesn't make me have to do things that are considered crazy or beyond the common sense of the human mind, for now I can still control myself as far as the money I use in gambling.

I always think, if I have entered the world of gambling, I don't want to be controlled by gambling, I have to be able to control gambling, that way I won't be controlled by addiction, the same as smoking, If you want to do anything addicted, if you don't have the money to buy it, you have to have cigarettes, but if you can control all of that, automatically gambling is OK and not gambling is also OK, no problem, let alone acting stupid.

Actually one of the things I make sure to prevent at all times is letting anything I do to take better part of me or allowing myself to get so much attached to something that I cannot longer have control of myself over it, so for someone becoming a gambling adict is totally depends on the individual on how they become so attached that all they think of is just gambling.

Perhaps in as much as there are responsible gamblers, there are also gambling adict, so for me I can never be a gambling adict because I only gamble when I feel I have a spare money that's of no much use to me at the moment so I will use it to gamble and even if I lose it, it doesn't affect me because the money is very small, but sometimes what I normally do is to draw out strategy of mapping out a little money I will only be using ones in a week and never to gamble beyond that amount if I lose the money, so with this method I can never become an adict on gambling.

I have never spent much money on gambling a person who cannot control himself in gambling becomes addicted. But you have lost all your savings but if you are able to control yourself you are far away from gambling addiction. Many families today are plagued with social problems such as broken relationships due to gambling economic crisis like sitting on the road due to bankruptcy falling into debt selling property, selling decorative furniture is also happening due to gambling addiction. You are in a much better position to understand your mistakes and prepare yourself by analyzing the harmful effects-symptoms or reasons behind this habit.

Just recently, I gambled away all of my winnings from contests, raffles, Bitcoin price predictions and even my earnings from signature campaigns. The reason I became addicted to gambling is that one of the casinos where I gambled showed me how it feels to experience being a winner. And then end up all my winnings .You know the dopamine rush you get from winning in gambling.
is that the beginners luck mate? or just one day they made you a lucky person that is why you have addicted for a chance
of experiencing same feeling once again,I believe that almost everyone of us have tasted that but others knows that it is just a trick and trap
of gambling site so they did not fall on that.
A couple of years ago I gamble every single day but that was fair and I think it cannot be called as an addiction as I have limits on how much I am willing to donate or lose a week since it is is a lottery. You can be an addict if you cannot control yourself with gambling.
that is a best to say , even you gamble each day at least you know how much you are risking and to be able losing per
gamble , attitude that will never bring you to addiction instead will keep you enjoying the game.

A bit I guess? I was able to hit a somewhat big cashout one time (relatively big compared to my usual bets/wins) and like a week or two after that I was like a zombie that had its mind corroded by the possibility of me winning. I lost that entire winning of mine in like 3 days, but my mind set was like "Eh, I'll just hit it again". I went and proceeded to lose like 3x or 4x of said amount later on. It was a gradual loss though so I lost more early on and as I lose, I kept reducing the bets and slowly had the realization that I was doing dumb decisions.

I've been into many other things that are gambling related, like HYIP and Cloud mining, even Ponzi Schemes, these are the fields where I learned my lessons about wanting to make money the easier way, and I truly learnt that I was doing everything wrong, I lost a lot of money too.

I remember also gambling away some good amount of coins on freebitco which is also a gambling like platform, so I saw a lot of things when I was starting out my journey of making money online, the only thing that gave me peace of mind is investing, it took away the unnecessary worries and stress, especially me just holding my Bitcoin.

I have learnt that gambling and high yield investment is just a way to make you give up more money for less good results, and gambling even draw you closer than every other, you can easily get hooked for life with gambling either you are losing or winning.

Gambling isn't necessary in my life because of all things that have happened to me in the past and I was smart to break free from all these things and start caring more about investing my money rather than hoping for a miraculous event to unfold.

No I can't because I've been warned by my parents and they have told me stories about lives of people that got ruined because they are gambling addicts, it's easier to become a gambling addict, said my father, always have trust in your hand work than magical ways of making money, you will lose more money that you will ever make from such ways, said my father.

And I took these words very important, the only thing that is assured and ascertain in this life is trusting what you build with your two hands, you can't reap from where you don't plant anything, it's a fake dream if you believe that gambling will set your ass free from hardship, don't even think about it, time is a valuable thing, so spend it on something more valuable that will do you good in future.

Gambling is only good if you are getting fun out of it, and the only way you will get fun from gambling is by limiting your expectations and using few dollars you can spare and ready to lose, panic and fear should not come close to you when gambling, if you are getting fear and panic in you then you are risking too much, your mind is on the money more than the game because you aren't ready to lose the money.

I believe that if you have a single episode in which you gambled compulsively this not means you are person who has an addiction in gambling but Just you're a person who has not been able to limit his spending possibilities!

going over budget happens often. Have you learn lesson? The amount that you Lost Is the valide of this lesson (would said a friend of mine when talking about forgeries....)
The solution for the future Is pretty easy.
Set up a cold wallet or multisignature wallet to avoid this problem in the future

I totally agree. I don't think that we can consider it as gambling addiction if we only did it once or at least a few times. As far as I know, it is something that is consistently done in order to be classified as an addiction. In fact, we all experienced gambling compulsively at some point in our life, or spending funds that are not necessarily set for our gambling activities. But I think these are the things that contribute to addiction. Because if we are going to look at this, these are one of the symptoms of having a gambling addiction. And if we're going to do such things always, it is likely to happen that we might develop gambling addiction. That's why if you notice yourself doing such things, it is better to control yourself while at the early stage, because if these are done oftentimes, it will certainly develop as your habit and later on will become an addiction.

Not that at all that I remember.

I was more than active than I was today but not that addicted at all. Maybe I am in denial? But that's actually my status before when I was too active but I know that I am not severely addicted to gambling.

Unlike you Op, I have never done such thing that I have spent all of my savings or equal to five months or more of it into gambling.

I can be a spender but not into that point just as you.

Yes, at some point, I'm sure almost everyone who does gambling also experienced being addicted to gambling. Well, being addicted to gambling is a common problem for those who gamble. There are many reasons for that: getting immersed in the game, having too much enjoyment in the gambling, or, the most common, chasing the losses, which could lead to a much worse situation. I became addicted to gambling mainly because I frequently won and my hope kept growing to earn a huge amount of money, which didn't go well. I experienced a great loss, but instead I got awake and started to distance myself from gambling, and later on I started to gamble again, but with discipline because I didn't want to experience what I had experienced in the past. I still overspend my capital, but not too much. After that, I will rest for a certain period of time before doing gambling again.

It's really hard to be lost in gambling because it is an addicting industry. Hence, it's better to establish and lay down all your goals and your main reason why do you want to enter the gambling industry in the first place. If there is something that you should really possess the moment you start gambling, it should be discipline and having a strong core values. This way, you won't be astray from your initial aim and reason. Gambling addiction do not happen overnight. It develops gradually when you have a strong sense of dependency to it. So the more you feed your urge to gamble more frequently than your set boundaries, the higher the chances of you developing addiction. Which makes it more important for gamblers to set and follow their limitations.

Now, when it comes to being addicted, no, I haven't experienced it yet and hopefully I won't in the future. But despite this, I lost an amount enough to make me regret the decisions I made. It was a learning experience to me, and a costly one. So I made sure to not repeat the same impulsiveness in the future with my risk assessment skills. Hopefully, you recover from your bad spending habits in gambling. Rooting for you.

Yes, I have thought of that. The hint was when I could not take my eyes off the game although it was moving on its own. (auto bet feature)
I've asked myself if I am becoming a gambling addict but answered it also with a "No!".
I think when you have that kind of perspective and you can still think and question yourself then you are not a gambling addict. You are still in your right mind and you can still control because you know what is happening to you.
Anyway, I have not been playing casino games for the past week so I guess I am still okay. Although, I am still betting for sports betting it's not really that much since I only make bets per event. Ever since I find myself losing every day, that's when I have the thought to just stop the casino games for now. It's not healthy anymore if I don't even feel happy and not winning even a single dollar. I mean the excitement is gone because I don't see any green in my bets, always the reds.

I see a lot of people here talking about gambling responsibly. Yes, that is something very true, but have you ever been a gambling addict?

Yes, when I first started gambling I started gambling a lot because I could make very good predictions of football results. Especially during this period because I was making very successful predictions, many of the bets I placed were successful and I was making quite good profits. Of course, since this was the case I started gambling constantly and became a gambling addict. As time progressed, I started to increase my bet amounts so as I started to lose I started gambling more to win again. Later, this situation reached the level of addiction and unfortunately my gambling addiction continued for a while.

Nowadays, I have learned to control myself while gambling and I gamble only for fun. When I think about my current experience and the past, I understand what a mistake I made and how bad gambling addiction is so I don't think I will encounter gambling addiction again.

There will be only few that will accept being addicted because this will make them feel a failure specially if they are successful in gambling (meaning winning)
we are all gambler here(well at least only few are not) so we know what losing and winning means but being addicted is something harder to admit or people are too afraid admitting they are addicted.
so lets face it that either pretending to be addicted because this is just posting , or yes the one who admits it is now a sober in gambling world.

I almost became a heavy gambling addict in the past. Fortunately, there were people close to me who knew this and immediately pulled me out of gambling and invited me to do other things that were not related to gambling so that I could divert my attention from gambling. It was a really difficult day for me, where I had to divert my attention from gambling completely. But I still did it because of help from close people so I didn't find it difficult after doing it for a while.

You have to really learn to control yourself because you have spent 5 months of your savings on gambling. After all, it seems you have started to become a gambling addict. If you don't stop immediately, you could become a worse gambling addict and I'm afraid you could even use up or spend all your savings. In gambling, there will be a desire to win more often. But unfortunately, we can't always get that, so we have to be aware of it because gambling is not a place to make money.

Yeah, same here. Just as I've mentioned in some of my other posts, I'm not really much of a gambler, so I don't know what it's like to become addicted. People who can control and manage their gambling don't seem like they'd become addicts. As you mentioned, when we bet on games and lose, sometimes we lose interest in playing at that moment. But for a gambler who's already addicted, they'll find themselves playing more and more, hoping or thinking that the next bet will be better than the previous ones.
People that are addicted in gambling thinks beyond next bet to be better. What they think more is that they can use gamble to earn often. That is why they will have a failed strategies and go for another one and fail and move to another one until they have several losses. One thing about people that are addicted to gambling is not only losses that makes them keep playing, if they are winnings they also keep playing until the day may not favour them.
Aside from that, people addicted to gambling can't control the urge to gamble even if they are losing a lot of money. Chasing their losses without tracking, using up their savings, and creating debt, as long as they think they can still win, they won't stop anytime. Some people even turn to theft/fraud to support a gambling addiction. All they think about is gambling, doing everything to provide for their gambling addiction, and feeling like they can't live without gambling. Like they are willing to risk everything and do everything as they expect a greater return.
