It's also a shame to see some parents not to know what their children are doing in secret, i count it as being insensitive enough to know that your child is gamble being a student whereby gambling requires money to do it, also i will blame the parents the second time for the kind of upbringings the child was exposed to that has led to his thinking about comitting suicide, how did they arrived at training their child having that kind of mentality, he would have been so used to making friends or too used to an open environment full of different atrocities.
The biggest shame is for the casinos explicitly targeting youngsters though. They know they are unaware of the real value of money, they know they are hardly able to manage it appropriately, they know they are more likely to develop a gambling addiction, they know they are less likely to sue them or to make any other things against them if they are scammed. But they don't care, they have already made billions of USD from them and they continue to target them through social medias and streaming platforms like Twitch or Kick. But behind those losses there are tragedies.

There can be distress and challenges associated with situations like those you described. Addiction to gambling can have both financial and emotional consequences. Those who are addicted have to realize that they do not have to suffer alone and there are resources available to help them. In cases where the person has accumulated significant debts, it may be necessary to enlist the help of family members or a financial advisor to find solutions. To address and find support, it can be helpful to encourage the individual to talk to their parents or relatives, or to help them find a trustworthy confidant.

You should contact emergency services or a helpline in your country immediately if you suspect someone is at immediate risk of self-harm or suicide. Providing assistance in such situations is something they have experience with.

They need to open up to those around them so they can get help so they can cure their gambling addiction. This looks hard because those addicted to gambling have to admit that they are a gambling addict and want to cure their gambling addiction. And if his family members can accept it, they will immediately help and find a solution and maybe they can go to the nearest rehabilitation center so that person can get help.

And should be in every city to have a rehabilitation center so that these people can go to them, consult, and know what they have to do. This also requires attention from the government to help create a rehabilitation center to help people addicted to gambling.

In my opinion, the one who gambles with other people's money does not understand what he is doing, and if the money is taken at interest, he is clearly an idiot and any sane person understands this.

It's a pity people who, once in a situation that is easy to solve in principle, end up committing suicide. Watch your children and try to be friends with them, because few people tell their parents about their problems. It is much easier to tell your problems to your friends.
He would be terrified if he lost borrowed money or someone else's money because he had to give it back to that person. And if he doesn't have the money to pay it back, he will surely get frustrated and stressed, which could trigger him to kill himself because he feels suicide is the best way to solve everything. Parents must watch over their children so they don't get along wrong.

While we're having the NBA finals, I am seeing a lot of irresponsible memes posted on social networks. People think that it's funny to bet all that they've got even the money that's set for school fees or monthly bills.

That's true that I am seeing it and these people that posts it on pages think that no kid is seeing it.

What if someone follows it without them knowing it and the person or the kid that saw that meme to bet all that they have really did it and then the bet lost? I don't know what's with these and I know it's just for entertainment but they should be responsible for every audience that will see these posts.

And that's why an example is on the OP and it's terrifying to see someone ends life like that because of gambling.
It's a pity though, the internet is an unbelievable world on its own, I personally can not judge those people making such posts online because clearly, they do not know the implications of what they are doing, to them, they are clearly having fun, and probably do not have the slightest idea that what they are posting could be misinterpreted by some kids somewhere which could drive the kid into making some gambling decisions that could turn disastrous like the what is discussed in the op..

Anyway, we all some time have been or will be guilty of posting such memes in the past or future, it is harmless to us, and we have no intention of leading any other person to harm through such posts, it is just unfortunate that some things we do with a clear mind tends to have negative impact on other people out there.

He should have seek for help base on the story their family has a power or their not poor they could afford to do some consultation for him.
And for I think if the parents are more connected to their child then they would have notice the problem, and they could have help him with it.
It isn't the first time that a person who has been in huge debt had taken their own life, or who has been addicted to something had done it.
But let's hope that those who are close to us would open up when they needed to talk and needed someone to be there for them.

The problem with gambling addiction is that gamblers keep denying that they are not addicted, but just regular gamblers who only want to play and win. And they become in denial with their own uncontrolled emotions, where in fact they really want to burst out and stop gambling immediately but they can’t do it since they still have to regain what they have considered losses. However, if only parents give a lot of time for their children, I think they will always notice that there’s something wrong with them. And if problems will be immediately addressed, then suicidal for most of the minor gamblers will never be consistently happening at all.
Denial is really that common problem by most gamblers on which they would really be denying that they are addicted until they would really be coming into a point that they had spent up so much money in gambling.
Realizations wont really be coming at first on which it would really be just that normal that you would really be having experience it on the end which means that dont let things to go worst and its better to
make yourself be wary on your actions along the way or else you would definitely be having that huge problem afterwards.

Spending up money which isnt yours would really be putting you into trouble and as a youngster then you would definitely be having no right decision in terms on what are the ways on solving out
such problem or issue but rather you would really be finding yourself to be that emotionally impulsive which might lead into suicide which we know that it is really just a dumb
idea to have on solving your problem through this way.

I’m not sure I agree with those of you blaming the parents. I am pretty sure that their child committing suicide wasn’t their goal. People do things by themselves sometimes and I feel like if help was needed it would have been provided. Having been young once myself though, I can understand how a run of bad luck could seem like the end of the world when you lack life experience.

I doubt the parents have done anything wrong in this situation. I do not know them, but it would seem to me they cared enough about the well being of their son for them to try to provide him with education. Unfortunately, they may have skipped the talk on potential vices, like smoking, drugs, alcohol and gambling...

I can't even imagine how it feels to lose a child, and even in such horrible manner, knowing it was an agonizing death for something which was preventable.

Well, emotional intelligence traces everything that happens to a child's emotions back to his parents. Multiple factors proves right why parents should behave well in the presence of their child. I don't know the boy's parents, and don't blame them, but console them about such a sad experience. Yet, in a society that gets wild everyday, parents should always make out time to discuss and interact with their child. They can easily discover when their child is depressed and passing through tough times. The deceased may have started gambling before he got admitted into the university, and his parents wasn't aware, because they never watched him closely. Or if they found out about his gambling addiction they should have counseled him and get a therapy that can help him fight the habit. Parents have lots of role to play in a child's life, such that if any get omitted it can be a torn in the flesh. The high rate of divorce today is blamed on the parents who fought or argued in the presence of their children.

Parents really play a vital role in the child's mental health condition. If he has his family and friends supporting him, I'm sure that he would have a clear mind and might not focus on have suicidal thoughts. I'm sure that it wasn't easy for that student to cope up with gambling addiction or he might also afraid that anybody would hear about it but in another angle, he might have leaned on gambling since he's experiencing lack of emotional support from the people around him.
As parents, it is important that we'll know the activities of our children and have enough time to spend talking to them personally and asking updates about their personal lives though we are busy with lots of things. They always need emotional support and guidance as younger generation nowadays are too fragile when it comes to handling their emotions.

It's really a shame, this is really one of those sad stories that really tell the dark side of sports betting and gambling in general, I could not help it, but had tears rolling down my cheek while reading this story..

Another future father, a future millionaire maybe, young 22 year old boy with a promising future lost to suicide after losing his school fees, and that of his friend to sport betting due to gambling addiction..
There will always be people born on this earth and vice versa people who die every day, but the case that befell this child is a lesson for all parents. As the age of the child will see new things (gambling) which unwittingly have brought them further from full control over their decisions. Parents are responsible for whatever their children do and if they are not well controlled child will suffer the same fate as this incident.

Stories like this don't just happen once and even every year there are definitely people who end quite tragically when gambling addiction is no longer able to be controlled by common sense and logic, it's just that sometimes it's not exposed to the media other cases and for me this is not surprising that before know the impact of irresponsible gambling.

I hope we all as gamblers learn a thing or two from this, and go back and look at our gambling life and see if there is a thing or two that needs to be adjusted..
I pray non of us, and any of our relative shall ever be a victim of such a sad story.
Learn to be responsible for gambling that we do and do not get used to gambling only every day. For anyone who has a child this is an important lesson to always limit their interactions and control on a more routine scale of how their lives outside, so that prevention can be done when this situation has not been running too far for the child.

Depression caused by gambling addiction and not having someone to turn to can cause suicide and this is what actually happens to the guy in the story he has a weak personality and he is secretive and an introvert.
Gambling addiction, depression, and having a weak character will contribute to suicide if only he can open up and there's someone he could talk to, this could have been prevented, so if you know someone who has a gambling addiction, do check his character if he can move on from big losses.
Definitely, I believe the guy wouldn't take such a decision if the friend and the roommate whose money he took could be a bit sympathetic about him for losing everything but he instead went ahead and called his parents and told them about it, he even asked him not to tell his father or to call his mother again and tell her not to tell his father about it and that he gambles and lost everything.

I know that the guy was compelled himself because it was his school fees too but if he was just a little bit more understanding, maybe the guy's life could have been saved as he would have someone who would understand him and give him some moral support when he needed it the most.

It's not someone else's fault, nobody should take the blame because even if it's an unfortunate news, they boy who committed suicide is at fault for doing such foolish things even if he got some reasons for it. And surely, the family have every right in the world to feel frustrated and angry because that money is a hard earned money and now it's in the air because it was wasted just like that. Moreover, who would've thought that the boy will kill himself after what happened.

This is sad news to know that this happened to students. It's supposed to be for other things but the sad truth is that "hope" that they can make more money by having to bet and gamble. That false hope is deadly and it literally went to death. Better be careful.
Maybe after he collected the school fees from his parents, he saw a match and he was tempted to gamble on it having full assurance that he will win, but things went against him and he didn’t know where to get money from then he decided to take his life. Don’t be surprise that the amount he is going to win might not really be a big amount, that’s why their are some  money you shouldn’t gamble with, make sure you gamble with any amount you can afford to lose, their is no assurance that you are going to win when gambling, but whatever happens in this life, suicide shouldn’t be an option.

It is really very sad but it is not good to take loan from a friend for betting because no one can guarantee whether you will win in gambling. It totally depends on luck. Many people will choose this road again if they are at risk if they can't win. Suicide is never the right solution to anything youngsters are very emotional, so first learn to control them and then bet. So this event can be seen as a small effort to lighten someone's misery rather than placing a bet or taking a risk for a friend learn more about gambling first then move on.
suicide is not an option but most people don't know this and they indulge themselves in this abominable act of taking your own life over a depth owed. As a gambler who fully understand that the game is a win and lose affair, you will have the understanding that gambling with other people funds is very dangerous and can lead you to destruction and if you know this you can avoid so many troubles that comes with gambling with the wrong money.
But unfortunately, there are many people out there who don't think so because they take out loans to play gambling and really hope to win the money. And it turns out there are young people who follow this path by borrowing money and even using the money their parents gave them to gamble. This can trigger young people to become addicted to gambling, and when they have nothing, they only think about ending their life. They don't understand how to settle their loans or stop their gambling addiction because they are too afraid to tell their parents or relatives.

In my opinion, the one who gambles with other people's money does not understand what he is doing, and if the money is taken at interest, he is clearly an idiot and any sane person understands this.

I'm so sorry to hear that. We always say, have to be responsible with our own money. We should not bet with someone else's money at all. Even with debt. But as a failed amateur bettor, I know this myself as betting draws people into bigger holes with its hidden hopes on top of the damage . Thats whats make you gave up or makes you end up the situation you don't wanna be in it rather being not alive anymore. So sad. We should live responsibly and bet responsibly. Talk to someone when somethings wrong. Rip

I am not sure what the boy intentions were but I believe this was not his first time, an amateur bettor wouldn't take his school plus that of his friend to go gamble if he is not experience, for him to make that bold step and use his school fees means he has been betting before but what went wrong is what they need to investigate, either the friends or someone closed to him must know what he is dealing with if suicide have been on his mind, he cannot wake up one day and decide to take his life for something he knows that the parent can make up for him, the parent can't kill him for such mistake.

You,could be right about that. No matter how silent the kid is with his gambling activity, he must have said something to a friend like signs that the kid is in trouble and will possibly do something like suicide. Suicidal thought shows signs. Irritability is a sign.

But you can't stop someone from dying if they want to die. Its the reason for killing themselves is just too shallow.

No parent would kill their children on committing such mistake which it is really indeed normal that you would really be that scolded because of what you have done but its normal because parents do really likes for their children to get in line with good doings or really just that depending on a certain guardian or parent because we know that not every family does have that kind of behavior and does really vary. There are some which is really that responsible but there  are ones who doesnt really care at all specially into the condition or situation of their children until they would really be able to experience up things. We know that it isnt really that something simple if we do speak about addiction on which whether you are young or old but on the time that you do make out some decision on taking up a loan or using up some money which isnt yours then
it do signifies that you are really that involved on betting for a while on which you would be thinking that you could be able to repay up those school fees incase you have able to win up a certain bet
but we know that gambling is really that risky on which it doesnt really give out any assurances.

MAaaN...!! CUT THAT STUPID SHIT
This was not really a serious case that could have even taken him to serve life in prison, but he just decided to take the law into his own hands and committed suicide. What led to the suicide might be depression, which can really push someone to do the worst things. But the truth is that people who are now very good in gambling, have even had some of the worst experiences in the past too; some have even done things that took them to jail all because of gambling addiction, but they never committed suicide. To anyone reading, suicide is not the best way to end addiction; it can never create worthwhile scenes, just as the OP said. Some months ago, there was the case of a mother and son who also gambled off a huge amount of money that was not theirs; they were sentenced to prison to serve for some years.

This is even the reason why I always say that before one decides to do something, let them always think of the negative results that are very likely to occur and also how they can handle the negative results. If they have decided how to do so, let them go ahead with their decision. If it were me, perhaps I could just ask my parents to forgive me and assist me to repay my friend's school fee, then forget about assisting me in school again if they want. Just my opinion 🤞.

This will apply when the child has assistance from parents or close people about the gambling they are doing.
It's very sad when you always read news like this, where a teenager commits suicide because he loses at gambling.
As in the case of suicide due to gambling described by Op, I also found the same case, namely a 19-year-old teenager who committed suicide by setting himself on fire as he left a gambling establishment. he loses at gambling and is visibly frustrated by dousing himself in gasoline and setting himself on fire.
