No one really likes for their children on ending up on that way as a parent and whose gonna be expecting for it to happen? This is why it would really be that important that you should really at least having some time on knowing on what are the things that they are into or dealing with. Asking them if they do have some sort of problem and really be trying out to be open because there are children who are really that secretive when it comes to problems on which it might really be leading out with that kind of option because they would really be seeing it as there would be no solution into that and this is why they would really be ending up this kind of
option on which taking their own lives to solve out everything. Gambling could really be putting you up on a situation or condition on which you would be having no choice specially if you are becoming addicted to it, then you would really be finding up places on which you could really be able to have some money for you to gamble. It is really hard to resist once addiction would be shackeld you out and since you are just that young
or not really that mature enough then you would really be having ending up with these kind of option and believing that this do solve everything.Yes, literally but its not really that worth of your life.
One thing i personally have learnt is that, as parents, we can do our best for our kids, but the truth remains that it is practically impossible to know every of their single steps, not when they are not even close to us, like in the situation of the victim discussed in this thread, he was a student and wasn't living with his parents, so there was no way the parents could possibly know what was happening with their young lad, maybe if he was staying with his parents, this problem would been averted, but  then, what has happened has happened, it is a lesson for other young people out there to learn from, gambling today has been made very easy with the introduction of online casinos, one way we can help our children our children is to not allow them access to smart phones and internet at their tender age, this contributes to how many of them turn out in the future.

if you read thru the article, he did gamble his friend's money and lost. certainly this is gambling addiction. sad to see fellow sports gambler can decide to end his life all because he lost money of someone.

i think he is afraid of his father knowing what he'd done. so he ended his life.

Aside from that there is already an earlier history that the late guy was gambling his tuition fee, its that, his parents replace the lost money on gambling and enable him to continue with his test.  It happen possibly in the first year of the deceased guy since he is in his 2nd year when he bet and lost his tuition fee and his friend's.  That maybe the case but he has done that already once and is able to do it again before he commits suicide, worst even stealing his friend's money and losing it in sports betting. This is clearly a sign of gambling addiction, I wonder why his parents are unable to detect it the first time their son gamble money for tuition fee.

I feel sorry for the parents who are striving hard to give their children a chance to study and prepare for their future but the kids never appreciate it and do things that will give their parents problems.

May this incident serve as a lesson to us and let us all be careful and make sure that we are in the driver's seat while engaging in gambling activities.

This is a very unfortunate death indeed and my condolences goes to his parents that sent him to school to have a brighter future but he decided to end his life this way, I'm just wondering what would prompt the young lad to use his tuition fee to gamble, even if you want to earn and extra cash as a student, gambling with his tuition fee worth it, he event went to the extent of including his friends tuition fees as well, such audacity, he didn't even consider the risk in gambling, talk more of considering how he'll settle those bills if it turned out bad.
You're right @Lionheart78 I believe he's had several history of such event that might have turned that good maybe that's what prompted him to try again and out of greed he decided to include his friends money to stake higher and get more profit and it went the other way, but I feel the reasons that triggered the suicidal though maybe he's relieved death treats from his friend on failure to pay before a certain time, or worried about the abuse and embarrassment he might get from fellow colleagues when they find out, but altogether he made the wrong choice and too bad suicide was the only option he had.

That's the problem, the kid or that young adult sorted his last option to end his life in his early age, instead of trying to seek help to his parents, on my opinion, being a parent you will understand even your child lose that amount it's not enough reason to kill himself, money can be earn again, that kind of mistake might be cured if the child open it up with his parents, though emotions might affect the mindset of the child.

If he's not that open to his parents, chances that he feels that he might not be understood and there's no other way but to give up and end his life.

Perhaps the kid was afraid to approach his parents. Some parents are very controlling and dominant. Kids don't feel confident enough to share their problems with them. But then, in such circumstances there maybe someone else who are close to these kids and such individuals can act in place of the parents when the kids get into trouble. In this particular case, it seems as if the victim never disclosed his trouble to anyone else. Either he was too afraid or embarrassed about his losses. And in the end he paid for that with his life. Tragic.

~snip~This is why it would be always recommended that you should really be that avoiding on dealing up with gambling if you do find yourself not really that good when it comes on handling your emotion
because on the time that problems would pop out then for sure you would really be ending up on having this situation on which its never been that recommendable because
life is valuable and not something that you could just simply suicide because of this.

Emotions that are unstable and too lamenting the sadness of losing gambling will indeed make you mentally disturbed. There are many examples of incidents like the one Op. even though they are still young and there are still many opportunities that can be done. Life doesn't stop at gambling, when we realize that defeat is normal then anyone will be strong and accept it. But if they only want victory without being prepared for the risks, it will disturb their mentality resulting in many suicides and even prolonged stress. I always think that we won't always win, there have been some defeats, so it's important to make a plan beforehand.

It’s always sad to see promising young adults lose their lives due to some addiction of some sort. Gambling should be seen as something of a recreational activity and not as a means of getting money to be rich.
In his case, he used and lost money that was supposed to be used as tuition fees and in a bid to recoup the lost money, he withdrew and stole funds also meant for his friend’s tuition.

You should only gamble with spare funds available and not money allocated for something else. Also trying desperately to recoup your losses would in most cases only incur more loss.
Suicide is seen as the easy way out. But it’s also a cowardly act as well. We should remember and consider the pain and anguish suicide would cause in the lives of our loved ones. People commit suicide in a bid to escape from their problems but in a lot of cases, those problems would be passed down to our loved ones still alive. In the case of this student, I believe the victims family might refund the stolen money.

I really do feel bad for all parties involved in this. It’s a sad tale that is most likely bound to happen again somewhere as more and more people gamble carelessly and irresponsibly.
At least we can understand the meaning of the sad story so it doesn't happen to us or our families. We don't know why he decided to kill himself; we also don't know why he chose to play gambling instead of using it for his school needs. In this case, we must pay more attention to our child's mental state because something can make him decide like that.

If the young man could tell his parents or someone close to him about his predicament, he might not have decided to commit suicide. He can surely come up with a solution to solve his case by enlisting the help of others. Indeed, gambling will not be able to help someone get money, especially if they use it for school needs or daily needs. And we must be able to keep our children away from things that can make them do things that are not appropriate.

no child will go too far to gamble if their parents pay attention to all the activities that the child does..  for 24 hours, as parents we can't occasionally see the progress of the child and ask him about the days he has been through!!
Every parents will feel bad to see their children gamble at their very young age, but you shouldn’t blaming the parents for not paying attention to their children, I don’t think it’s possibly for a parent to monitor their children’s affairs 24 hours, no matter how strict a parent is, children are always having their own personal life which you will definitely find it very difficult to know. According to the OP the boy is already 22 years old is no longer a kid which you can be monitoring, maybe he is in higher institution and he is not even staying with his parents, so how will he be monitored 24 hours? Seriously both the child and the parents have to be blamed and not only the parents.

Still a kid to me even if he was already 22 years old at the time when he decided to end his own life, most kids will mature and will be called men after the age of 25 years old because by that time, they can already feel the responsibility and that their time to play games is already over. Gambling will be their specially if they picked up a habit during their early years but at that same time, they could already tell which is better and how to weight things before they make a decision and most of the time in that age, they will not have the time to think about suicides as they will be busy on something else.
Being on age 22 is not really that a kid anymore on which i could say that you are already on the mature side. Even to those who do age 30 or even 40+ do make out some childish acts for sometimes or even doing

something which doesnt suit out on their age. As for suicide kind of decision then it is really that having no exemption whether you would be that old or young because on the time that you are on deep stress and
being scared on some possible consequence and this is why on the time that they would be seeing that they are on a tight situation and it seems that there's no solution to it, then this is where a certain person
would really be deciding on having that decision on taking his own life on which its never been that a good option to do so on which getting yourself killed or suicide because of debt and addiction problem.

This is why it would be always recommended that you should really be that avoiding on dealing up with gambling if you do find yourself not really that good when it comes on handling your emotion

Age is a measure of how much time has passed, but maturity evaluates how much a person has developed. Age is not a reliable proxy for maturity. A 22-year-old can show more maturity and discernment than many people twice their age. Wisdom and maturity are not guaranteed by advancing years.

Suicide is a really sad issue to discuss. It is ageless because it has its origins in universal psychological challenges that can affect anyone at any time. Depression and hopelessness are powerful emotions that can force people to make life-altering choices.

You make a good case for advising against gambling if one struggles to control their feelings. Its a dangerous hobby with the potential to become addictive and lead to negative results. Doing things that improve your mental health and happiness is always a good idea.

But there are really people who are really that bad when it comes to balancing on things on which they would really be easily having that kind of conlusiveness when it comes to particular situation on which they have

felt out that there's no other solution but to take their own lives. Its true that each problem does have its corresponding solution on which it would really be just that normal that you would really be having those kind of hardship and mind boggling situation on what you should gonna do but it is never been right on ending your life just because you dont understand anything or you arent even sure on how to resolved it out.
In that person whose age of 22, then for sure you are still heavily relying with your parents unless if you do have your own family but its unlikely for someone to have a family on this age
unless if its really that too early. On the time that you are still under your parents or guardians then you could always asked out for some help.

Yes, they would really be scolding you basing on what you have done on which it would really be normal with that kind of situation which you should really need to accept out
but for the sake on resolving out such problem on such situation then its better to be silent and accept on what they would be saying.

My privacy, my right.
Those I pity in this awful situation are the parents of that suicide victim it's a double pain for them having their hopes of a prospective responsible son in the future all gone at a glimpse and having to bear the burden of burying your child as a parent when child was supposed to bury parents. What a pity.

People should learn to differentiate between money meant for gambling and money for something of a different specific use. The idea of doubling your money amount through gambling is a deceptive one that will always lead to regrets no matter how many times we try.

I don't know if anybody has observed or it's just me, that we have never won in gambling when we use money that was meant for some important project to gamble. 99% times it has failed what winning hope there can 1% give you?

In conclusion, no matter how disgraceful, humiliating and downgrading the situation we find ourselves may look like due to our failed actions and inactions in life, please suicide isn't a resolution to it. Suicide only worsen the pains to your love ones you would be leaving behind.

I believe the person stated by @OP is not a minor anymore.  In fact, he is 22 years old and considered an adult.  I think this person has never been seriously disciplined since he already had done this kind of thing and the incident is the second time he gamble his tuition fee.  I also think that this person is rebellious of his parents and at the same time very selfish.  Though I wonder why the parents unable to think that their son is addicted to gambling.  If the parents knew probably this guy would have been rehabilitated and saved from the action he made.  Or probably he does not think that drinking insecticide is fatal..
In this scenario, he's old enough and knows basically the wrong and good attributes of gambling. Suicide is not always the most effective way to address a problem; instead, cope with the conditions and sought for alternate approaches that are drawn to the situation. Using school fees to gamble and losing everything, he felt regret for his conducts but it was too late and he had a lot of ideas running through his head, so he just decided to put down everything without a second thought about his life or the lives of his loved ones. Ending one's life without necessary checks is a terrible conduct for humans.
Gambling addiction occurs not only in adults but also in young people. Maybe the young man felt that there was no other way, so he thought quickly of killing himself to end it all. Some cases always end with suicide without trying to think of other solutions, even if they want to be open to other people. Perhaps, other people are willing to help them and don't have to kill themselves. But they don't want to be honest and open with other people so that other people don't know what's going on with them. Short thinking can happen to anyone who wants to end the problem immediately.

I agree with this because indeed in this era there are more parents who are too concerned with their busy work rather than always having to supervise and guide the actions of their children*.
But actually, no matter how busy parents are, they should still have enough time to direct and supervise every child's activities.
The family economy is indeed very important, but in my opinion, there is nothing more important than making children smart and achievers and avoiding all negative things.
I was surprised to see the handling of parents with children growing up. It's as if they don't see the potential in their children but only give what their parents want and demand that their children follow their parent's wishes. And I also often see children rebel against their parents to the extent that it causes the children to commit juvenile delinquency. This is the importance of communication between parents and children because, in the old days when parents were children, the conditions in their children's era are now very different. Hence, parents must supervise their children well and guide them to grow up well.
Many parents need to be cautioned about handling there children or else things might keep going wrong. If we train our children in a way that is polite, they will keep living to that kind of lifestyle or else something else happens. Parents need to go extra miles to watch there children activities to prevent them going too extreme in the wrong path.

There are some certain age we don't have to allow children to go into gambling because of the big risk that can make the child become a gambling addict that the society frown at. When there is no proper care for a child, he will not be able to easily be influence by  friends peer groups.

While you are right about that, actually, teaching our own children what to do will not be enough to keep them away from harm because that alone will not put them in a much safer place where they will always choose to do the right thing, instead we should be a role model for them as that will make them to follow us. It will be hard of course specially if we're almost the opposite of it, but we need to tread the line more carefully if we wanted them to be safe and as a parent, we would go to an extra mile just to say that it's somehow guaranteed.
As a parent then it would really be our responsibility on telling things on which it should really be taught into our children specially on things on which it could really put them on harm on which it would really be just that

normal but there are parents who are really that not minding much about this thing and wouldn't really care at all until things get messed up because of being irresponsible and this is where regrets do come out.
We know that there are things us parents cant really be able to monitor completely on what our children been doing but as much as possible or early as you could then it would be always wise on teaching them about the things that this life has and on what are the things that should really be that avoided so that you wont really be ending up on getting messed up. Gambling is really a serious type of problem on once people would really be getting caught with addiction.

On the time that your children is involved with this and never tend to tell out their parents but behind they are already that suffering with such addiction on which it comes to a point
that it would really be spending up money which arent theirs on which it wont really be resulting in a good way.

Even how tough it was, parents needs to extend their efforts to make sure that they are doing the right thing, better than regretting if you find yourself in a same situation with the parent of that kid who committed suicide due to this un-anticipated situation, Parents will continue to be liable with how the kids being influence with their proper guide those young minds will be protected, but if they are not doing anything, the problem will come up.

For sure, there's none of us as parents who in the right mind that will blame our kids for doing that suicide, for the love that we had. We will always blame ourselves for such action that is being committed.
no child will go too far to gamble if their parents pay attention to all the activities that the child does..  for 24 hours, as parents we can't occasionally see the progress of the child and ask him about the days he has been through!!

the children will still be very unstable, they are immature in thinking, so when they experience serious problems, they are short-minded and feel that death is the best way for them to take.  money for the child is indeed important for the parents to look for, but the mental condition and also the education of the child is something that is very obligatory for parents to pay attention to, don't let the child become addicted to gambling or commit suicide, we as parents regret it for life.
