Thats why I don't like to see young minds which are not mentally ready get themselves into this gambling act, before ever you will get yourself involved in this habit, I mean you must have known that its a win or lose situation and the losses shouldn't get to you anymore because you knew what you were getting yourself into.
The rate at which young forks are getting involved in gambling is alarming and for some reason, I am beginning to see the reason why some countries ban gambling, take this incident for example, how can a student gamble away his school fees and that of his friend, what happened to the gambling rule that stated, gamble only what you can afford to lose but in this case, the student has gone beyond that warning by the staking amount that is above his risk level.

But suicide is not the way to go about this.

Young people have the tendency to decide such fatal options because they can't handle emotional stress yet.
This is why younger generation are prohibited to gamble as much as possible.
If they are old enough, they may opt for better route, because they know, they can solve the problem no matter how hard it is.
But for these younger ones, it is like the end of the world, they can't handle the embarrassment they will face.
Hence, choosing to end their life over financial burden, which may be different when you are old enough to face such challenges.

It is quite sad to see conditions like this always happen because this is one of the known cases of the many cases that exist in the current trial.
He is still very young but is indeed addicted very badly because perhaps in this case the factor of him rarely socializing and being more alone makes him a little closed.
But indeed cheating his friend instead of restoring the financial condition is obviously also something that seems like a very desperate act from him.
Hopefully in this case we can take the lessons that exist because it has often been said before to be a good and responsible gambler, which is indeed something like this is often done by many people.

When a gambling failure happens for the first time or when we've got no more money to spend on our needs as a result of losing in gambling suicide thoughts used to pop. In my personal life I've gambled a lot and during the beginning days I've got good sum of money. At some point the luck was completely against me and I lost everything. That was the time I experienced such a big loss. My mind wasn't ready to accept and I was into the room for a long. I don't know how I came out of the thoughts and later on well understood about gambling and never think of suicide and self harming for the losses. Maybe this story will let more users understand gambling and stay on the safer side.

And I guess it really depends on the personality of the individual, I'm not blaming the kid here, because he is the victim, the failure of the system. But each one of us if we think logically, will not take our own life. On the other hand, we should be man enough to face any consequences of our gambling addiction. Maybe his parents will understand it in the end and perhaps cover the losing school fees and the kids strengthening his life up because of his bad experience. However, it's too late for that, again, maybe if he could have reach out to someone and spoke about it, this could have been aborted. And for those who are in the same situation, there is still chances though with our problems and never think of taking your own life to solve it.

no doubt that this is a very sad story, and that makes the people who listen to it feel sad, but in this type of stories there is not only one villain who would be the person addicted to gambling, the person who is pressuring you to home and that makes the addict very afraid to confess his mistakes, when we have parents who make threats to their children, then the children won't tell their problems when they realize that they are serious problems because they know that the parents are going to torture them and I'm not talking about psychological torture, I'm talking about physical torture, for example in my country I see many parents torturing their children

It is unacceptable but unfortunately the police do nothing to prevent this type of crime, now imagine if a child who suffers physical torture from his father will want to tell him that he embezzled money to gamble, of course he will not, that child will rather kill himself than tell It's all true, so part of the blame for these types of suicides lies with the people who live with the person who committed suicide, in my opinion, society doesn't help people, society is judging people, and this is a very big and serious evil which has led to frequent suicides and which could have been avoided

I don't know what to say based on this story.  I tried to read the link you shared, it seems that the child is depressed and desperate for what he has done, he has no solution to replace the money he has used for his gambling. which in the end, a narrow decision crossed his mind to take an act that could not be justified. not only did he hurt himself to death, but the impact was bigger on the people he left behind. especially the parents who have been educating him, sending him to school so that he can achieve a better life goal. but unfortunately, his addiction ruined everything and not only that. in fact, he has made his parents destroyed in deep sorrow.

One thing we can learn from this story, or story. similar things can happen anywhere, maybe even in our own environment and our families are no exception. not just a gambling problem, but could involve many things. however, because of the context that we are discussing is gambling addiction. so, we should have more responsibility for what we have done, especially in gambling. very important, only make gambling part of the fun entertainment, nothing more.

Another sad story in a world of gambling, suicide rate regarding gambling are continuously rising and this is very alarming.
If you are already in a level of addiction with gambling, I hope you will have the courage to seek help and guidance because you really need it.
If you are too depressed about your losses, then stop doing it and focus more on what matters the most. Life is too short, we should enjoy it instead of stressing yourself with addiction. I hope everyone of us here will not end like this, we have to be more responsible always and gamble within your means.

That is a very sad story, how people can't figure out the way out of the gambling addiction but only see suicide as a solution. Gambling addiction is dangerous for people who can't control themselves and keep continue betting on various sports events with their life savings. We have to educate gamblers to keep themselves safe and don't get stuck on endless loss streaks which is possible due to the house edge set by the casino aka house. We must help people suffering from addiction to prevent stories like this to appear.

The importance of understanding the bad side of gambling which must always be studied and understanding how gambling works will make us realize that there is nothing magical about gambling.
So if we already know and are able to learn how gambling works, we will definitely avoid addiction which must involve someone's life or our own life.
There have been too many suicides just because of gambling and this problem often makes people think negatively about gambling.
I think the incident experienced by the person borrowed his friend's money without the owner's knowledge in the hope of doubling the money. that's so wrong.

So sorry to the family of the victim. It is sad to see this.

Some people do not think about the consequences of using high amount of money on gambling, but when they lose the huge amount of money, they will be depressed and some people will feel like killing themselves. He is young, but he supposed to have faced what comes after and change for good. If there is life there is hope.

Supposing he knows about this forum, maybe he would have learned some lessons from what we are posting.
I don't know what to classify such individuals who think and take gambling as money doubling scheme that guarantee them winning that can change their life over night, and with that mentality, their stake unbelievable amount hoping to win, but when the money gets goofed there will not be able to handle such loses and at that take some stupider action like suicide.

This show that the individual is not mentally mature enough to handle gambling and its demands, but ars just in to try their luck even with having proper preparation to handle possible losses.

It's really a shame, this is really one of those sad stories that really tell the dark side of sports betting and gambling in general, I could not help it, but had tears rolling down my cheek while reading this story..

Another future father, a future millionaire maybe, young 22 year old boy with a promising future lost to suicide after losing his school fees, and that of his friend to sport betting due to gambling addiction..

We are in the 21st century, until when before people realize that suicide does not put an end to problem, but rather create more for those living??

This is really a sad story though, ya all can read it on https://punchng.com/how-ogun-student-committed-suicide-after-losing-school-fees-to-sports-betting/?utm_source=telegram&utm_medium=social

I hope we all as gamblers learn a thing or two from this, and go back and look at our gambling life and see if there is a thing or two that needs to be adjusted..
I pray non of us, and any of our relative shall ever be a victim of such a sad story 😢😢.
This is definitely saddening, as a life has been lost needlessly because of gambling, at the same time it also opens the fact that this is a common trope when it comes to gambling and gambling addiction, most people who find themselves in a rut will definitely resort to these types of activities to rid themselves of the suffering and the ensuing problems that would come with such a grave issue.

You cannot blame the people who did the deed, they saw nothing but that option during that time and to them, it's the most viable solution to their problem, it doesn't mean that what they did was right and should be justified, but in the case of suicide victims, you can't really put the blame on them, as that would only cause them to resort to that later down the line.

Ultimately, one should make sure that you only gamble what you can afford to lose. Money that's so important such as school fees, utility money, and others of the same priority shouldn't be touched, and gambling should only be seen as a way to let off some steam, never as a way to gain profits.

As someone who's dealt with suicide in their family, I can easily come here and tell everyone it's simply not the answer.  Sure we are all going to get ourselves in places that aren't comfortable.  We are all going to screw up and put ourselves in a place that feels like we can never get out of, but there's always light at the end of the tunnel and after a little bit of time and work we can all pull through.

I hope no one here ever gets even close to this point.  Gamble responsibly !

There was a time when the Spartans threw weak newborn children off a cliff because they understood the value of the resources and strength invested in a person. This guy was too weak for this world, so he didn't try to solve problems, he just chose the way of the weak man - by committing suicide. Don't feel sorry for such people, because each of us chooses our own path. I had very serious problems at his age, but I did my best and got rid of them. Everyone can do it and there is no need to look for someone to blame. More often than not, we ourselves are to blame for what happens to us.
You aren't totally wrong on your statement, but the ancient times are already gone. We should have compassion for those around us that may be weaker, but are still human beings struggling to survive and to deal with their inner challenges, just like every of us. Not everyone has the same abilities and self-control, but it's up to the strongest ones to help the weakest ones. The problem with individuality is that selfishness and loneliness come together.

This case was a fatality, but there were serious evidences of the addiction suffered by the student, since it wasn't the first time he used school fees money to bet. Family and friends knew about his addiction, so I think they should have been more careful when giving him access to a large amount of money.

Not the age but to all of the gamblers in this industry. We are all prone to depression in the first place so what more if we are the ones creating problems resulting to such situation? If you're here in this industry for years, for sure you'd be tired of hearing "bet an amount you can afford losing". It is really making more sense due to such unfortunate and sad instances and for sure there are more alike stories from players. Ofcourse no one would really be okay from losing but atleast manage the expectation and risk. If you'd end up in deep situation if ever you'll lose to tbat certain game, then keep away from it. We should all expect more of losing than winning in order to make ourselves ready.

It's always sad to hear this kind of horror stories, especially if it involved a young boy, who still has a bring future ahead of him and cut short because gambling took over his life and he has no control over it and probably suffer from mental depression and just decided to end everything.

Similar to what we heard about another young kid who took his life when he lost everything in trading crypto.

Gonna be hard for the parents, and hopefully those who are reading this might not go to this route or better yet, quit gambling as early so that they won't come to this situation.

Knowing that there are still people whose lives are being ended by gambling is extremely distressing. Gambling involves risk, and if a person isn't strong enough to handle it, losing might cause despair. Giving up or, worse yet, committing suicide out of hopelessness is never a wise course of action. There is still time to find solutions and fix things.
Gambling is not for those who are emotionally weak, hence it would be best to avoid it if we are. If we don't want to endure difficulties due to consequences in the end, there should always be a limit.
It is tragic that a young person took his own life because of gambling distress. If he persisted, there might yet be a bright future in store for him.

And yeah, I understand the point you coming from though, I've once been depressed due to relationship problems, to the extent I felt like taking my life, but God be praise I had friends around me, who kept distracting my mind with their discussions and at the end, I forgot about suicide.
^You must be careful with all your decisions and never get alone, I remember your story of one of my neighbors before.
He died when he got suicidal successfully alone and that was his 3rd attempt. At that time no one was left at home and he was depressed about his love life and his family as well, seems like his dad and mom are always busy at work. We should always put in mind that suicide is never a solution to problems and that there are always other options and sources of support available and sharing your struggles with trusted friends, family members, or professionals can help alleviate the burden.

Back to the story, we don't know the whole story why it triggered the suicide. I'm sure it's not just because of losing school fees.
The whole story is contained in the link I shared in the op, it's a pretty well detailed story, the writer took time to put it together, it contained how the whole thing started and how it eventually ended, I will advice you take some time out and read it, in as much as it's really a heart touching story, I give you a guarantee that it's a pretty interesting read that wont make you bored, from beginning to finish..
