Most altcoins are good for shortterm in this present market condition, might be a better choice for those who like predicting on bet platforms but if you know which altcoins you hold you won't get rekkt, i almost change all my altcoins to old altcoins now because they seem to be better than new projects

I see people encouraging hodling doing so to reduce supply to market in favor of themselves to hkeep the price up for themselves to sell. I happen to be a victim with junks of tokens in my wallet. I am not in the club of quick seller.

If you hold altcoin have lower rank on coinmarketcap maybe you will rekt with your assets, its not care how long you holding or not because shit coin is not have chance get much profit, but if you hold top altcoin on coinmarket cap I think you will get much profit although holding just few days or few weeks with your altcoin assets, now you have way which one altcoin have to hold.

Simply holding coins will not yield you any profits. You have to be careful and have much knowledge to get benefits. Cryptocurrency is highly volatile and one should not wait for long time thinking it will rise up, up and up. My suggestion is just hold, assess the situation and sell the coins when their price goes up a bit. Do not wait for too long.

Oh man do not tell me about alts. They made me lose most of my investment because of that bear season. I still do not understand how some alts can decline by %95, they left some people hopeless in market. If someone is going to enter the market now, I advice them to look at good projects which have high all-time-highs. They will be the ones which will increase the most.
I lose most of my funds to altcoins investment too, i guess those altcoins that surge at that time are not all good coins, if i have knew then what i know now i won't be in big lose today, now i know how important it is to always do better research on projects before investing

You really get rekt if you hold a shit coins, just like mine I have many shit coins in my wallet since in the last year, they are all dead now. I should sell them in the first place if I know that they no longer to survive.

I think there isn't a single person here that doesn't have at least one shitcoin. Nobody can predict the future, we chose to believe in some projects, if knew better we wouldn't invest in them in the first place. I had a chance to sell some coins at their ath, but I somehow missed that golden opportunity and I got busted, some of them worth 1 satoshi now.
There's no time for regretting, we need to learn from that experience and to try to be better with our investments now and future ones. Regretting is contraproductive in anyway, focusing on today's challenges require concentration, how else to analyze current market conditions and to do a research if you aren't focused on that.

It depends on what alt. you hold. If they are at top 10, I think it will not be. But if it's true, at least you already have a plan for cutloss at right price to minimize your loss.

Bitcoin is the only investment that a person should make. Altcoins only looks pretty they do not make a lot of money.

Often times I read various posts of people/traders/investors preaching HODLing some altcoins for years and so on thus I took some to research on altcoins 3years and guess what? Most of the altcoins in 2016 are no more to found anymore. You can take a deep look as well via https://coinmarketcap.com/historical/20160103/

My candid advise is to trade with the five senses intact and not with emotions. Don't get on some shitcoins with the intention to hold for years else you might get rekt.

I almost feel bad for making money by selling some of this coins before they died, but to be fair, i lost a bunch with developers that just left or disappeared.

But as you talked about avoiding emotions; hodling some of these coins from 2015 would have made you very rich. You just had to pick right ones.
Back then there was no shortage of shitcoins either. They just had smaller budgets to market themselves. Instead of being tokens, they were just forks.
Most of them have only announcement left of themselves.

And if you go even further, they didn't have an ico, or even a real developer. But after tokens came, the amount of vapor projects multiplied. The money raising factor made them even more scam instead of being hobby projects. So the changes of holding a vaporware now is way bigger. At least if it's a token.

Most Altcoins dont get high liquidity when they first launched on exchanges it will take time before it could get a solid growth. Unlike the top coins in the market new altcoins some of them might not recover if the team decides to abandon the project, thats basically the consequence if we invest in cryptocurrencies sometimes only hopes are left.
Hopes also tricked us to patiently wait for nothing, most of those new projects being listed and dumped inside exchange don't have any chances to recover back, most of them ended up nothing and failed the investors. Developers without long-term projections about  their projects will
runaway after seeing that the project fall  hard, knowing that they already have decent money to enjoy. Alts might be an opportunities but only
those team/s that have good views about the usage that they can offer along the way.

If we holding it blindly, yes we can go rekt. Most altcoins from the past are dead, they have no development.
We should be very picky when we want to holding some coins for long time, otherwise we may holding some useless coins.

there is truth in what you say, I have taken altcoin for 4 months and it turns out that until now it has no value. altcoins that I hold have turned out to be shitcoin and coins just die.

I expected a drop off, but nothing like 95%. Or in some cases, closer to 99%. I thought at around 70%, most alts would have hit their floor. Luckily I didn't buy into any alts at highs, but I'm still at a pretty big loss as I didn't count on this summer dropoff.

But yeah, if anyone bought in at the highs, I can't see any real hope of recovery for a lot of coins. I guess by now most sold off though, taking big losses, but not disastrous losses. And if holding currently, might as well just keep holding ... either the market will recover or one might as well go down with the ship.

It is difficult to make altcoin as a long-term investment because of its speculative nature. I agree that many altcoins are no longer actively traded due to many factors but I don't think we need to be traumatized to invest in altcoin because there are some that are worthy of being a profitable investment tool

Holding the coin in a long time now does not produce anything. Maybe the disadvantage we can get. This condition certainly has changed and not as in 2017. Since the decline occurred in 2018 until now, I am convinced that from all of you can not make much profit from holding the coin.

It is worth noting that the coins you hold are not coins of poor quality. Update your portfolio because many of the coins are experiencing quality degradation because developers are hard to get investors.

But other side holding altcoin could take many profit with pump price, many altcoin could raised more than 100% after one year listing on exchange market. Many altcoin have success with keep holding in long time.

Depending on the altcoin, if altcoin has a good product and is also traded in large exchangers, I think it's reasonable because of the large liquidity. Many altcoins die because they don't have a product or are left by the developer team
