This year I learnt how emotion took over most of our decisions in crypto trade when we should be strategic, most old members were beneficiary of every run because of the experience. Things happen so fast and we couldnt cash up with it. First, was the bitcoin baby run, early IEO profits on big volume exchange, turn over from some exchange coin, now is the baby run of some altcoin. At least some bitcoin will be take from ETH run in recent days. They are so quick and slippery. The most important season is the bitcoin run coming soon and we need to make good profit from it

Often times I read various posts of people/traders/investors preaching HODLing some altcoins for years and so on thus I took some to research on altcoins 3years and guess what? Most of the altcoins in 2016 are no more to found anymore. You can take a deep look as well via https://coinmarketcap.com/historical/20160103/

My candid advise is to trade with the five senses intact and not with emotions. Don't get on some shitcoins with the intention to hold for years else you might get rekt.
You meant to say' holding bad altcoins can get anybody rekt?'the fact is we have many good altcoins and many more bad projects with dangerous aims, it takes lots of lessons to identify good coins that deserve to be hodl for long term and that lesson is sometimes learning the hard way

In general, I would not want to risk my money by investing them in new projects.  Perhaps I have not yet learned how to determine the prospects of a particular project, but indeed since the time of 2016, most ico companies have not been implemented and many teams have disappeared from sight.  Many projects do not support their communities with project development announcements.  This makes us think that most new projects have no future and are a waste of time and money.  Based on this, I prefer to invest only in proven cryptocurrencies, which are in the top ranking of the cryptocurrency market.

True. It's also true that believing on some things that this might get help you swim over being rekt but it won't it just make it worst. I would like to tell you this scenario I experienced. I was holding a good coin before the drop after bitcoin soared to 20k. I was enjoying profits that was like $1k profit on my part and then it went all the way down. When it goes down by 46k profit, I told myself I will not sell because I guess this will just go up again. But it didn't that was a massive drop.

HODL strategy attracts investors because it leaves hope for the sale of coins at a good rate in the future. For the most part, it is provoked by the greed of the investor and annoyance about the lost profits.

This is a candid advise which is so true, most altcoins won't have a functional project in years to come. Some altcoins I held for long turned valueless and that was a great lesson learnt. Now before I hold an altcoin, I make sure the project development is extremely cool, if not I bounce. Presently I'm holding just 3 altcoins with BTC taking 70% of my portfolio.

I agree with the opinion of the original poster. Most altcoins are just personal business of a certain people with the sole aim of making profits. The fancy Whitepaper is just a means to an end. If you must hold altcoin, never loose your emotions are focus on your target. Never let the team dump before you else you are rekt. As for me, I will only hold btc and maybe Ethereum which has a foundational structure

for altcoin holding I think it's still a potential as long as doing altcoin holding is in the top 10 cmc. this is useful to stabilize profits and eliminate speculation if holding altcoin will hurt.

It is not only about the coin itself but the holders too. I have been holding top 10 and 50, all of them are underwater right now. For a couple of months, it's fine but someday ago I was in need of money and forced to cash my altcoin. Roughly, I lost around 70% of my initial capital because of it. That means, even if you are holding top 5 coin. That does not explain you will not get rekt, instead, make sure you can afford to hold it even though you are buying top 200 coin. As long as you are not selling it lower than your buy order, you will not get rekt.

True, but by the looks of it, it seems like altcoins is starting to rally again as of today. XLM was up 40% earlier today, which is impressive.
You gotta do your own research on the right alts though, because some of them will die for good, with no working products. ERC20 tokens is a great example of this, where the devs burned through their ICO money already, and is basically without any money left.

High cap coins is probably the safest option in terms of profits, but if you're looking for something with insane upside potential, something that enhances BTC, and LTC through Lightning, you should take a look at Stakenet, who is soon ready with the first Lightning DEX. This DEX offers instant trading, low fees - Basically anything a centralized exchange offers (except FIAT gateways obviously). Wink

No,  you are wrong. Trading Bitcoin with high leverage without any trading skills will get you rekt or wiped out entirely of your portfolio. While holding altcoins even with basic risk management won't get you rekt. It is more like waiting for a long time before you profit.

Reasons in holding your assets and keeps believing that it can bring good success needs to be more done from researching and analyzing your investment, it's not an easy task to deal with but mostly important to established before you make a certain position with your target assets, many failed doing this business with high hopes and full of emotions, it won't help but just to rekt things out after seeing the fall from the market as automatically your emotions will push you to make decisions that will not be appropriate, keep enhancing your self observations and act according to what you believe.

You are quite right holding of shit coins for longterm in hope of good value can end you up in 1 satoshi value. I believe in high trading volume coins because low trading value coin can diminish in the long term So one should always do proper due diligence before holding any coin for long-term.
Every coins start with low trading volume this is why i belief that some new projects will reach greater heights and those who invested at earlier stage will be very luck, bnb token once traded at a dollar per token and now its over 30$ per one, no one is perfect but better research can make you spot worthy projects

Holding altcoins can only get you rekt if you hold on to the bad seeds in crypto space, many altcoins are useless projects with no real working product but if you can take your time to investigate and do better research you will know which project will worth holding for long term

Given the fact that over the past two years altcoins have only fallen in price, then of course, if we take the last three years, the situation with altcoins will be very bad. Altcoins basically began to appear on the ethereum platform, which itself appeared in 2015, that is, four years ago. What then to expect from altcoins during this time, and even with the tough price dominance of bitcoin? In my opinion, it is too early to judge the death of the bulk of the existing altcoins. You need to at least wait until the cryptocurrency market grows well.

I myself prefer very good coins and more volumes like bitcoin and ethereum for long-term investment because it has very profitable potential, if we rely on shittcoin to survive it is very risky because I have been like that and often get very bad losses big, now I trade with coins that are very high in profit potential

that is already a common sense and i believe every crypto investors know that fact  . sh8tcoins are not for long term investment but they are only best at short term since this sh8tcoin can pump up after thier release date because someone is going to manipulate or hype them  .

sh8tcoins can dissapear in the long run but what about the regular coins ? they cant dissapear yes but thier value can still decay .

btc isnt excluded with it of course  .  we still need to monitor  our assets  .

Holding at a higher price can get you rekt. Holding bitcoin at more than $12000 is the same, or holding Euros when it was 40 percent higher is the same thing.
That's why you need a lot of patience and should know a little about trading before buying cryptos.

Point taken.
But there are a few who grew in value.
I think you must really pinpoint them with a lot of research.
Let us say BNB. Before it was just cents of a dollar and now look at it.
Good thing I withdrawn most of my altcoins into ETH and also took a chance to sell at the ATH of it.
Choices should be made and for a lot of times you need courage to avoid a zero value portfolio.
