Not just the creators of the project. It may happen that the creators have also left or they were just hired for it within a specific time frame. I guess you should contact the one in control of the project even though it is already dormant, the ones who have the rights and legal ownership over it.
well I guess no one will interest with the project because it was already abandoned, people will no longer trust they do not want to risk that already failed. It is better to launch a new one.

If you have a good use case in mind then find yourself good team, introduce something very new and useful then you will caught the attention of the community, once you have a strong community support you will be unstoppable.
If a project is already dead, it's best to skip it because investors won't trust the project anymore. If you keep trying to develop it then it's just meaningless action, it will quickly die again.

Sure, you need to contact the person who created the project. If they were still there, it would certainly be easy. But I bet they got out of this market when they let their project die and cost a lot of investors. Before you do this I suggest you do some research maybe you can find information about a once dead coin that was bring back to live and did very well in crypto market, well I haven't seen a single project that was once dead doing well today, better to leave them dead
Don't you think its best to just create a fresh start instead of restarting reviving the dead?
If you haven't picked the dead coin to revive you might wanna think over again because the dead coin you cold pick could have lots of problem in the end. Probably the team had been already accused of scam. Or the previous developer still has lots to dump. It's hard to rebuild a ruined reputation.

It's bad idea trying to revive something that's already a total failure, you have many challenges in front of you and the most scary on is winning the community back, investors won't trust you, no one will be willing to take risk on such project
If they dont have public repo with code with right licence than you need to talk with team. Maybe they ready to sell or gift this project to you
Why would you want to resurrect someone else's failure? I think you would be better off starting from scratch. If you take on someone else's project you also get all the disappointed investors from that project as well as the reputation of having failed. It is hard enough to find success. Do yourself a favour and start from scratch. If they have some tech or code you want ask to buy it or license it.
Usually, we call a restart of a dead coin is a takeover if the original devs willing to part away. This is the hard part since even it is a dead coin, some devs don't want to giving it easily without any compensation. I think its the best if you do a takeover in a swap process. Dead coins can be swap to a new coin and it is now in your control. Whether you want to keep the spirit of the dead or improve it further is on you.
It will be hard to be revive especially if those projects had accusations or had bad reputations. People or investors will remembers it still would accuse ofnl something similar in the past. I would say try to create your own, and be unique and will stand out for its competitors and will get the attentions of investors and community in crypto world.

You will do extra work on the dead project if you plan to revive it, you want an advice? Don't! You would need to approach and tell them if they do have still plans to revive the project or not, but i doubt that you cant simply find them since majority of projects nowadays is been created by anonymous devs unless if you do attached or engage with legit projects with known devs or team then you do have the chance for you to approach them.Yes, any project can have that chance I see lots of abandoned crypto projects with potential and lets say I am interested in one of them and want to keep the devlopment going. but im not sure if the dedication would be still the same in talks with dev's side, once they do fail and do able to saw that theres no much support in the past then they will presume that high
chances it would be repeated out. It all matters with projects relevance or actual usage for it to get some recognition.
You shouldn't, it's a bad move entirely you will end wasting your time, I suggest you create your own idea and your own coin, once a coin get abandoned investors moves on
That's the best approach here, just create your own project.
Because as a developer, you can use some open source codes and just rectify it.
Dead projects - it will be hard to talk to those devs and I don't think they will be willing to lend their time to guide you, as they already abandoned the project.
You also need to buy your own domain and hosting, don't ever think that you will just use their old domain and acquire the ownership from the old dev, that's a total headache.
Better start on your own so you don't have to be relying on someone that is not reliable.
I hope the OP will not go the route of chasing those old devs. Just be your own boss.
I am still learning grips of crypto currency and to the best of my knowledge regarding altcoins, what is dead (alt) will never rise again.
Remember, there's a difference between a dumped token and a dead altcoin project.

no need, just create your own altcoin.. its better than to restart a dead altcoin.. there are so many disadvantages and you will just waste your money..
How much efforts and possibility of recovering a dead crypto project into alive one is bringing back a died person into alive status, its almost impossible so don't try doing it. 
Why restarting a dead project when you can pull up a team and create yours; unless you have no idea which is applicable yet. However, if you want to go that path, the best is meeting with the CEO or team of the project to discuss with them and know what actually lead to the death of the altcoin. There are many reasons which might lead to the death of an altcoin such as the team losing focus, listing on bad exchange etc. Also, another thing to bear in mind is there are holders with large amounts who won't hesitate to dump when there is opportunity thus a concrete plan need to be in place to ensure it is controlled.
