You can ask the developer of the project if you can, because most of them will leave the project and just let it be. Other than I really doubt if there will be a user who will interested to the project again. Although you make a creative promotion but must likely the project that you develop will be a shitcoin for the second time. I am weird to you, if you are developer and can build a project with well, why you don't create your project? You can start everything that you want and you can promote the project that you want.

Is not the project that has been abandoned is no longer trusted by the community so that many leave it?
Continue to be here want to run on the development I think it needs from the beginning again because the project is dead so it's better with a new name or a new project with a new concept then I think it will be more appealed to have to continue the project that was abandoned.
Need to persevere in building a solid project and team to market it.
Same suggestion's with me,if you have a good idea that you think will have more support from community its better to have your own and start from scratch it is the same as making alive a dead project. The things better if you are the owner you have the control of the supply when ,where. What will the plan to supply distribution.

If you dont know how to make your own then you can hire a blockchain developer to make them for you.

There must be good reasons why it was abandoned in the first place, old dev might have even use the project to scam already, do not waste your time trying to revive a dead coin, they are better left dead, if it's good it won't be dead

Some of the coins were not scam. I remember HeavyCoin, for example.
Such coins may even have full github source code and list of bugs and fixes.

But.. most such coins are from the (dead) era when a coin was considered good only because it had a new mining algorithm.
Those days are imho long gone and never to return. Now a coin has to be better than that. It has to have a good use, a good platform behind it, an idea, a niche; else we can simply use Bitcoin or some established altcoins, which we already do, so your effort will be useless.

So the conclusion is basically the same: you will have to come up with a brilliant idea, not just programming skills.

Are you kind to your neighbor? Think it through
Hi,

I see lots of abandoned crypto projects with potential and lets say I am interested in one of them and want to keep the devlopment going. What should I do to achieve that?
Do I need to talk to the creators of the project?

Looking for some insight on it.

Thanks

My first question would be, why are you interested in a dead altcoin project ?? And do you think you can actually revive such and complete its product development ?

Well, back to your question, you certainly can get access to such, first you need to contact the ceo of the altcoin, and its dev team for proper handover of the project.
Then you would need to conduct to a token swap and burn to reduce total supply, and keep you in control of the token supply.

I am not sure it is the best of choices, but you can dyor and make it work

Just relaunch the ICO to get funds from the investors as long as you have get enough funds you could easily continue the development of the dead token.

But since it is already dead I don't think a lot of users is still going to invest in your token since it already has a bad history, Creating a new one could be the best option also there are already a lot of scam ICO or token in the market so I think it would be difficult to make a successful token this day if you are just relaying in the investors funds. Anyway, it was just my opinion.

It will be better if you relaunch the coin with new name and some new features. If you are going to contact with the team of the project, I think you will get no response because you know if they were active and interested, the porject would not die at the first place.

Looking for some insight on it.

Probably not good idea though. Cause it's too much risky to invest or own that projects which people or investors didn't showed so much interest about it earlier. But if you think that project have unique idea and have possibility to reach success with doing proper advisement/marketing then it's worth to try.

For that of course you have to contact with that person who owned that project already and try to convene him with proper idea about why you interest to restart that project again. But you have to careful in every single steps otherwise you will get scam very badly. In this crypto world trust is precious thing, if you have doubt 0.0001% about anything then stay away from that.

Why not creating a new one ? Or if you want, you can fork the coin to the new coin.
The previous holders can receive the airdrop base on the amount of their coins.
Continuing a dead coin is harder than start a new coin because the trust of people already gone on dead coin.

Depends. If this project was abandoned means its has nothing rare or good to offer. But theres always a doubt about that right. What you need to do is study first how the projects work, then talk to the developer and create more strategies on how to promote it.

Forgot about them, if they are realy decentralized, they should have an open source code, so pick the code, improve it and create your own better project than making a live dead notworking project Smiley.

This is also good. An open source can be improved by interesting individual, and those who owned it can probably agree with such collaboration. Money is needed but if you can spare some then there is no problem. Continue to improve it and make some community members that can support you.

You can do this, if the product is working or has potential. Showcase its strenght then if its good. Community will help you to spread it even without any compensation at all.

You shouldn't, it's a bad move entirely you will end wasting your time, I suggest you create your own idea and your own coin, once a coin get abandoned investors moves on

Agree with you, why not create your own project by building your own team. Because if you take over it will definitely require costs by them and people already have a bad view that before it had failed before

You must re-build the reputation of the project and this is the most difficult task that already avoided by so many new developers consider that needs a very long time to do that. Abandoned project doesn't always mean if that was totally abandoned by the developers and in another way it can also be a scam project too and how you can build the trust from investors to trust the scam project again? it's impossible to happen.

Honestly, I don't think I have ever seen a cryptocurrency come back from the dead, at least not from completely dead like you appear to be referring to.

Ethereum Classic (ETC) recently experienced a revival of sorts after pumping a bunch of money into the project, but I'm not sure you've got the kind of capital necessary to do something like that.

I'd personally just make a post in the project development section and ask people if they're looking to sell or hand over their project. If you've got the right team, funds and skills, then nothing is impossible.

But I'd imagine starting with a dead coin is actually even more difficult than starting with something completely new.

I see lots of abandoned crypto projects with potential <...>
If a crypto was abandoned, it's very likely that it was because:

1) It was vaporware or a scam
2) Probably wasn't listed on exchanges so the market didn't care about the coin
3) Developers didn't want to spend time and resources on a dead coin and decided to bail

Honestly, don't waste your time on them. Be original and create your own project from scratch.

To boldly go where no rabbit has gone before...
I've seen it happen many times, and my advice is AVOID at any cost.
Because even if you do make something out of a dead project, and it somehow ends up in an exchange, the previous owner/dev will somehow show up with bags full of it and dump it into the ground.
You will loose all you money and confidence from the people.

So stay away. As said above, create your own from scratch.

Yes, you can start with talk CEO or Creator if they are interested on your next plans. Last year and 2018, I saw several projects dead for lack funds. This legit project was refunded which investor trust those projects. Development team was good or not, justify before start talking with CEO. Of course you need more trust something and more better team members.
