Does anyone know how it calculates how long I've been online. I looked at the statistics in my profile and says I've only been on for under two hours.  Could have sworn it's longer that that.  Oh well, I'll keep researching and poking around till it gets there.  Looking to post in Marketplace eventually.  Seems pretty effective and keeping out spammers though.  Grrr.... said I already posted this.  Hmm....

if you are doing some activity then time counts and if you stop then its also stop its simple rule for working of this forum

There is a sticky post "NEWBIE README", which should answer most of the newbie questions.

Thanks for the link. I missed it though it is already sticky. Tongue

I am a new user to bitcointalk, but i am not new to bitcoin..

We have all read about the alleged bitcoin heist of $100M US.   The thief is having a hard time getting the money out of the system.   Effectively his bitcoins are worth a lot less than the market rate (potentially zero) because he can not get the coins into fiat, products, or services.

This poses a very interesting dilemma.  If stolen coins can not be converted to fiat than merchants will become fearful to accept bitcoins that are stolen.  To ensure that the merchant does not accepti bitcoins that are stolen, merchants will ask for a database of stolen bitcoins.  If there is a database for stolen bitcoins then effectively there ARE chargebacks!  i.e. One could use a bitcoin and then add it to the database.

I am big bitcoin enthusiast and investor.  Can someone please alert me to where my logic is misguided?  I hope it is!

If my logic is not flawed.  I assume there are solutions?

Thanks,
Steve

It is necessary to write 4 posts and to wait 4 hours, why it is made not clearly.

I keep getting "you already posted this" or "need to wait 360 seconds" errors, despite my posts never showing up anywhere. System seems a bit glitchy...

I don't think the system is glitchy.  You need to wait 6 minutes between posting messages or replies.

That much I understand. However, I made 5 post attempts in different threads on this newbie forum over a period of 4-5 days. Every time, it came up with "you must wait 360 seconds" or "you've already posted here". The post you replied to, was my first actual post that got through.
