Many people have been gambling all their lives and have no problem with gambling addiction. Someone gets a gambling addiction after only a few gambling sessions. Therefore, gambling addiction is not a stigma on every person who plays casinos. Each individual must monitor themselves during a gamble and analyze how it affects gambling and take the necessary steps if notices that the becomes a gambling addict.
Many gamblers have undoubtedly found themselves in a situation where they've lost control due to gambling addiction. It's truly frightening, considering the number of people who have gone bankrupt as a result of gambling.

Some suggest limiting gambling, but it's an incredibly enticing industry. Many individuals push their own limits and spiral out of control. They may even resort to selling their belongings when they've exhausted their funds.

Although I haven't personally experienced addiction to that extent, I can imagine what it would be like. The first step I would take is to consult with a psychologist. I would seek rehabilitation to overcome the gambling addiction. Then, I would actively pursue other activities that would occupy my time and prevent me from gambling again. Recovering from any addiction takes time, but I firmly believe it's possible, as many people have successfully overcome such addictions.

I never stop to gamble because I know the risk and I gamble for fun.

If you and some else want to stop gambling, it's better to seek a professional, because they already know how to handle it to cure your addiction. But it will not be easy as gambling is promoted almost in every where, to really stop gambling, I think you need to just stay in home and never touch anything to connect with digital world.

One thing common about gambling is that it's very easy to start but difficult to stop because we all enjoyed gambling especially when it comes to having fun together along, but I don't want to believe that a professional solicition is much needed because it's what we ourselves should be responsible for and if we are truly determined to change anything then it must first comes from our own self before others could interfere or contribute further advising us on it, most cases where external professional guide is needed is when we have gone outrageous with gambling.

I have a friend who does not gamble at all, but he does not know how to control his diet, he is so fat that it greatly interferes with his life. I think this problem is very similar to gambling addiction, because only he decides how much to eat. In the same way a gambler decides how much money he is willing to lose and how often he plays at the casino.

Gambling brings so much joy especially when you're on the winning side, when things are all in your favor it just seems like you should never stop. But when it gets bad, you look for a way to pour out your anger, either on someone or on something.
When someone is addicted to gambling I feel it's worst than one who's addicted to drugs.
I don't call gambling bad because it is a good way to spend my free time. When I come back from work I focus on it. But I can't call it bad as long as it doesn't cross any of my limits. A gambler becomes addicted only when he spends excessive time in gambling. Finding the identity of an addicted gambler is not an easy these days. There is no assurance that a gambler will be able to overcome his addiction on his own self. Because an addicted gambler never wants to be recognized as an addicted gambler. But the main point is that if someone is doing excessive gambling then he should be convinced as well as highlight its harmful aspects. He should be made to understand that gambling is not a source of profit. I think if one does these things well then he can come back from his addiction.
Before the person becomes addicted to gambling, he can stop for a moment to see how gambling affects him. But sadly, only a few can do so and find that he is already experiencing the symptoms of gambling addiction so he has to stop it before it becomes a gambling addiction.

It's not easy to overcome and it takes a lot of determination to tell himself that he should stop gambling and have enough fun. As long as he can say it, he can stop but for the most part, people will not be able to say it or find it difficult because the temptation of gambling always comes to them. That is why we must know when to stop gambling so we don't go too far and avoid gambling addiction.

I would advise that person to visit this gambling support thread if the other solutions from most of the posts above didn't help them.

It's quite easy to stop playing - you just have to switch yourself to something else. But this is difficult to do psychologically. Another hobby should bring you a similar level of adrenaline. Of course, whether you have the courage to stop playing is another question.
Having another hobby that can replace gambling is the solution that also helped me. It's easy to do it once, and then the real challenge is doing it repeatedly since they need to have that kind of tenacity before they can stop their addiction for good.

So much has been said about betting companies regarding how they should be responsible in helping those who are addicted to gambling, although is really hard to do so on there own path because gamblers can't be monitored.
I don't know if booking an appointment with a therapist would help or is something you as a gambler who wants out should do on your own.

The question is if you're a gambler or have someone who is, what's the best way to help out. And what's your story on escaping that addiction (gambling)...

How do you fight this battle?

Talking with someone is ALWAYS a good idea.  You may not find the right therapist/psychologist on your first go round (meaning you might have to try out a few to find a good one) but eventually you will be able to find someone who can help you with all issues in your life, not just your gambling issues.  Don't let anyone ever tell you any different, therapy works!

For me, it's never been an issue, but I can see how addicting it can get, and yes very much like a drug addiction.  I wish anyone going through either the best of luck!

I agree. I would suggest to switch to another source of entertainment, like video games, they can be very fun and if the genre is the correct for one, they can even bring a similar sense of enjoyment to gambling.

There are people who say that everything is better with friends, so perhaps even some online gaming could replace for some time the urges of wagering on a casino. The important thing is also to seek for family support and even professional psychological help if one feels the urge is too strong and continues to affect the full development of our life after trying to quit and replace it with other activities.

As usual, anything is excess is harmful to anyone.

In general, happiness comes from nice things, and when you're unhappy, you can simply target your rage at something. When you win a bet, you get this euphoria that makes you believe that you are smart when it comes to gambling. You feel like you are on top of the world and forget that gambling is a two-sided game with a 50/50 probability of success. You should be able to stop playing when you've lost a number of games in a row and curb your greed.

When someone is addicted to gambling I feel it's worst than one who's addicted to drugs.

All addictions are terrible, whether they involve gambling, drugs, smoking, or anything else. People with addiction often feel awful about what they do after they have done it, and after a while they still want to do it again because it is a part of who they are; they know it is bad and they want to stop forever, but it is very tough.

Being addicted on either of the two is unhealthy since it causes you to emotionally harm yourself and has a negative impact on your health because you won't have time for other activities. When you have a gambling addiction, you won't have any other use for your money besides gambling. You'll constantly want to get back your lost money at any cost, which will result in you losing more money. However, in my opinion, gambling addiction is much better than drug addiction because drug addiction shortens a person's life span by causing organ damage. It is harmful and causes premature death.

I occasionally gamble and am happy that I am not an addict because I have witnessed the bad effects that gambling addiction has had on a number of other individuals. Fortunately, I don't know anyone close to me who is hooked to it, but I believe that, like the OP suggested, prayer and counseling could be helpful.

The question is if you're a gambler or have someone who is, what's the best way to help out. And what's your story on escaping that addiction (gambling)...

How do you fight this battle?

Best way to help you out from excessive gambling? Well, it's you who can only help yourself and that's the best way. If someone who cares for you brought you to a therapist or a rehab, you will still find a way to gamble again because it was never your decision to quit gambling in the first place.
So, the best way to quit or minimize gambling is to convince yourself to take necessary steps to ease the urge to do gambling in a daily basis.
But if you still enjoying gambling and not lossing so much money, then I think you're still fine since you need it to keep your mind sane after a stressful week of work.
You are the only ones who could really solve out such problem without the need on spending some professional fees or having those help from other people. If you are really that just having that will and self control

then you could really be able to solve it on your own.Although there are people who are really that who do fail up when it comes to controlling up their emotions and making up some targets or whatever they would be deciding to do on which they do really fail on doing so. Stopping gambling addiction is hard, it might that sounds to easy to say but when you do get shackled with addiction then there's nothing you can do
but you should really be quitting it up before it would be too late.

It would be mainly destroying your financial and even with your family relations and all of things on the time that addiction gets really that being too severe. This is why you should really be
that careful on dealing with gambling.Always be having that in moderation.

Outsmarting a gambling addiction, is it feasible? Its as complex as the gamble itself. Your approach: attempt, fail, adapt, quit if needed - they sounds too simplistic, doesnt it belittle the gravity of the issue? Can it be that easy?! Addiction, in all forms, is a psychological maze. A mental snare. Its not a 'snap' decision to break free. It requires expert help, behavioural adjustments, and a strong support base. Also, implying gambling isnt an issue unless finances are at stake is a tad misguided. Its more than money—its the relinquishment of control, the strain on relationships, the dissolution of tranquility. Yes, a therapist's aid is a good start towards regaining control. But remember, its not a lone battle. A supportive surrounding is crucial in this journey.
You are already talking about a serious gambling addiction, it can be very difficult to get out of this state on your own. And although this should be an integrated approach, but first of all, the player himself should want to get rid of this problem, without this, all attempts by others to solve this problem will remain fruitless.

If a person is aware of the problem, then he has a chance to cope with it, if contrary to the comments of relatives, the player believes that everything is in order, then unfortunately, in this case it will be very difficult somehow to fix it.

If you really gamble just for fun, then you're a lucky man.

I was introduced to gambling about 30 years ago. In my life there were big wins and big losses and mistakes and discord with friends etc., but I was able to overcome all that without anyone's help. Every gambler must understand that if you do not want problems with gambling you have to learn to control yourself and never play for other people's money.

first of all it's essential limit the money available to bet and set deposit or spending limits on each site
example for crypto users: use cold wallet/password protected (of course in a second location respect you're living).

next steps: self-exclusion from all gambling sites.
if this is not working as supposed to be...request for professional help (via doctor or counseling group).
it can be helpful talk with family members or friends but it's not always the right solution...

Life is not as difficult as some claim, if I try something that requires money and it doesn't work, I will give in to trying another strategy; if that also doesn't work, I will quietly give up considering the implications for my health or my bank account. Those who are looking to use gambling as a way to get rich quickly are the only ones who get frustrated when their predictions don't match te results of their events, gambling doesn't have to become an addiction, but if it does, those who can't help themselves should seek help from a therapist, and those who feel they are losing more money than they are making should take a break, is as simple as that!

The fact that therapists can cure smokers and drug addicts makes this no any difference,  if you are addicted to gambling, you are the only one that can put an end to it, by strictly forbidding yourself from it.

Gambling addicts believes in that flickering hope that's fading right before their eyes, they believe that there is still some light left after they risked everything and lose it all to gambling, instead of working on themselves they go out and look for more money to gamble, this is the most stupid way to gamble.

If you are not making money through a job you should not go for gambling, money most be coming from a source at least, even if you keep losing your monthly salary to gambling you will wake up, because all the hard work just to lose all the money? That hard work will set your brain right.

Same here, I will not even deny that there might be some losses already in my side but that's just fine as I just gamble for entertainment and for past time, and not to seek money in the sidelines. So, whenever I win, I just take it as a bonus because in the first place, that wasn't my goal.
I'm just giving myself a safe distance before everything goes horribly wrong as I know that if I will get addicted, I will have some serious struggles for sure and that's not what I wanted.

I think that if addiction was not a serious problem as long as you are still having sense in your mind. I meant you can know how many funds that can be spent for gambling. The problem is so many gamblers with addictions were losing their sense. They could not think properly about how to give limit for what they should be spent for gambling purpose. Limiting your fund has become one of most effective way to prevent yourself from being addict in gambling but anyone has different perspectives.

You can try to start it by yourself. I prefer to put limitation for how much money that could be spent to play in the sport bet.
It's far better rather than forcing yourself to avoid it. It will not make you able to stay away from your addiction. The progress can be done slowly.
As some said above if the main things must be how discipline you are.
