Many people recommend to use cold storage so that's what I use.. They are all saying that online wallets are not 100% safe. Even storing your bitcoins on exchanges has no guarantee that it will be safe.

Correct, this web online storage is not that safe compare to the hardware wallets or offline wallets, unlike the web wallets, this hardware wallets are more secured and you are sure that yoir bitcoin is in the safe place. It couldn't be easily hack unless you are going to give your private key to someone you don't know or you accidentally posted on the social media.

I store a part (very small percentage) in an online wallet where I use them to buy litecoins for gambling but the chunk of my savings are in the core wallets with my privatekeys saved on a flash drive.
If you can encrypt that flash drive that way even if someone gets his hands on that flash drive then they will not be able to use it to steal your coins, maybe it could be a good idea to hide that flash drive instead of being around your room that way the chances of being stolen get lower.

even though I feel that security is more important than convenience, I still find myself sticking to convenience more. Tongue I use an online wallet provider, easy and fast to use. Does anyone use an offline wallet for storing purposes, and do anyone suggest using that? I place my trust in the online wallet provider, so I hope nothing goes wrong. :

I usually store my bitcoins in an online wallet like blockchain, coinbase and xapo wallet. Ive been using these wallet for a long time now and I didnt even had a problem. I feel secured and safe everytime I keep my bitcoins in this wallet.

I dont think that keeping coins in web wallet is a safe idea as you can see in web wallet you are not in control of you wallets and any time they can do anything with your wallet like now when their is problem in ETH the ETH COINS are gone and you can do nothing with the web wallet

The problem with a desktop wallet is that if you don't know what you are doing you can easily get hacked and lose your coins just the same. I suggest a hardware wallet because its safe and easy to use even if you aren't very good with computers.

Hello everyone as the title says ^
Do you store your bitcoins online or on a wallet on your computer, perhaps cold storage?

I store my Bitcoin in different gambling site and different trading site. I used them in trading site whenever i see a potential new crypto to trade with, and i used my stored Bitcoin in Gambling site when they have new promos or competition, This way i save a lot of transaction fee.
to store your bitcoins in gambling sites is really risky, because it is really very difficult to prevent yourself from playing gambling and specially if you have already put your money in gambling. i always like to store my bitcoin in online wallet i always feel my bitcoin more secure.

Even online wallet are also risky as if the online wallet stop the service then what will you do so it is better to store you bitcoin in desktop or hardware wallet where you are owning the private key of your address.

my almost all bitcoin will be in exchange online wallet because bitcoin is the mode of currency i will use that and exchange when i really need cash or money.

what you are telling correct but keeping bitcoins in exchange is not a good idea if the online exchange goes scam or they got hacked then all your coins will be lost and even they wont be liable to refund you and as you are not owning the private keys of the wallet so you cannot claim your wallet. That is why it is said that use desktop wallet which is fully safe.

Actually, I store my bitcoin in online because it’s totally safe and secure, then you can a sure that no one will try to hack or stealth it. However, there still some people who use cold storage also called hardware wallet that you need to install in your laptop or computer. Lastly, the best way to keep your bitcoin safe is to store it in online wallet.

I consider storage in a cold purse as the most reliable. But just in case, it's better to divide the coins into several purses.

I'm storing my bitcoins on my web wallet though I find the risk is very high. So right now I'm trying to sync my bitcore wallet but it really needs to take a lot of time before it will be connected to the blockchain network. I'm also aware about what is going to happen with this BIP148 so I'm going to store it there for security.
Online wallet also has a good level of security. You do not need to worry, you can activate 2FA. This is a very proven security service. The important thing is you open the online wallet on a secure network, make sure the device you use is free from viruses. You should be able to do maintenance and control it yourself.

Yes, they are good and trusted when it comes to their security. But the only risk is the private key, you don't hold the private key. Though there are some people that are worrying about them because they can still run from their users but I really can't see a chance that they will do it because they are business and they are building trust.

For me my bitcoin stored in my wallet but sometimes i trade it to collect a big amount of bitcoin. Most of the time i exchange it to a real currency specially if the bitcoin value is high.

Of course we are storing on our wallet because there are no storage for bitcoin except to the web wallets and hardware wallets. But I prefer to store it on the hardware wallet because it is more safe than the web wallets. Web wallets are too vulnerable for me, too easy to penetrate for hackers, so having this hardware wallet gives me assurance and safety, I'm not saying that it couldn't be hack, what I'm saying is it is too hard to hack.
Good statement no just only a hardware wallet you also have your private keys unlike some of the web wallets .If you are just storing bitcoins it is better it on hardwallet and leave some amount in web wallets for your own use ,investments or for other expences .
In web wallet especially having a large amount of bitcoins it is better to scatter it in many web wallets so it will be hard to access all your bitcoins wallet accounts.
