Bitcoin = Financial freedom
But when someone decides to create topic only for gaining merits it sucks.Many newbies trying this trick in recent days but without prior knowledge, they are not going to make merits even if they create constructive topics without contexts.

Not your keys, not your coins!
Frankly speaking, most guides are regurgitated. For instance, how to post properly, how to trade Bitcoin, how to spot fake giveaways, how to rank up, how to impress Satoshi, how to report scammers, how to flatter theymos.

We need some innovative ones, but then the forum stats have also been overused Cheesy
It does not matter if you can make a better thread and OP of the best thread (on same problem) is inactively on the forum for too long and is not able to update that thread. Fundamentally, the content you write is a matter.
As you can see in other sections, people are just dumping many non-sense posts on many threads. They still don't know what's the feeling of having a thread and it's very satisfying to discuss something that you knew very well. There's no restriction on good discussions, It just shows that having threads have more benefits than the typical reply posts.
Replies in Mega spam threads are useless because no one read such replies no matter how you those posts are. For Mega spam threads, simply ignore and don't reply. For the others, I feel well to reply to help OP in a very few pages of each thread.

Threads composed by good OPs are much more contentful and helpful, I agree but don't self-restrict how we contribute to the community like that.

...
Please don't quote the whole OP like that. Instead, please use @OP or simply reply if your target reader is OP.

3. You will get a strong reputation and credentials because you are making an effort to make a quality threads.

This will only happen if you actually create useful threads, otherwise you might get the opposite of what you want - people will see you as merit hunter, topics might be deleted for being low value, users might put you on their ignore lists if you post too many useless topics and so on.

There's one important rule before creating new topics - use the search function first and see if anyone made a similar topics in the past. This can save people's time from having the same discussions over and over again, and you yourself can read old discussions to learn from them.

one could argue that you should already have the knowledge before starting the topic and share that knowledge not to want to gain it after the fact. specially if it is a guide topic. i sometimes see such attempts that ends up being more misleading than being helpful.

I consider this better than holding onto the wrong notions about a particular topic.
One shouldn't make guides on topics they do not know much about though, but the fear of mistakes shouldn't hold one back from learning. I make it a habit to indicate that I am open for discussions so more experienced members can either approve or correct the ideas I put out.

It is your responsibility to know and research about the topic but at the same time, you should accept that there is something you still don't know about it. It's an opening to engage in a healthy discussion. There will always be someone who has a different opinion or understanding about a certain topic and it's better to engage in a discussion to clear and inform who's right about it. It will help others to understand and be more knowledgeable.

I have been caught up in situations like these, were I see something online and eventually put it out as a post on this forum only for other users to debunk it. It's a harsh learning process but it allows you to know which knowledge to accept and which not to and it teaches you that not everything you see online is completely accurate.

To make a good guide, you have to have knowledge at fundamental level, at least; then using more to search for available topics on the same issue on the forum. After all, spending more time to compose a good guide, both in contents, and grammar. They all contributed to grow composers up.

sometime we missed something and others filled in the gap on our topic. This always happened and thats normal cause not everyone has 99% knowledge on the subject. There's always 1% that we dont know.
Usually this kind of thread is called a discussion thread and all people involved will complement each other so that the discussion goes one direction and with the same goal. Because none of us is perfect, it is very possible that we still need others to correct our shortcomings.

A well moderated discussion thread usually gets a lot of new lessons and opens broader insights to the OP as well as other users and the people involved are usually quality posters so we can all gain more knowledge.

hmph..
The benefits of creating quality topics is very simple;
1. You'll gain more knowledge.

This is the most important things happen to me. Maybe i was far away from HQ poster in this forum. But, when I trying to create a topic, I also learn something that i don't know before or just hear a little bit information about topic idea. Because I want to share with other member, so i must doing a research. There are the reason when we are trying to share anything with member, we will gain more knowledge as you say. Same as you, I'm starting to contribute in my local board where language not a problem to communicate each other.

To compose a guide, user have to spend more time than simply reply to a post. My statement excludes shit guides that only are created for merit hunting, without any new knowledge or contributions.

Sometimes it's easier to discuss about something you've learned well because you're going to build a successful conversation that serves a forum function.
Discussions can be started by yourself or by the others but at the ends they are discussions.

Thankfully, your long list of created thread will help me find and review your post easily whenever I needed it.

As I see it, you are making this forum as your personal diary whenever you have learned something and then sharing it to the community which can strengthen and to test if you really understand what you are trying to convey to the people.

Alternatively, since most of the people here sees bitcointalk as an academe of learning cryptocurrency, posting what you have learned serves as a test to know if you are learning the correct information with the help of other forum members. Cheesy

This is right. Ive seen also some created topics that instead of presenting the idea, the topic went far, and become irrelevant. Knowledge is important prior to clicking Post but this change depends on the topic subject. And also I am agree with this line said by finaleshot2016;

Other users that reply to your thread and shares information will let you learn the things you missed on that topic.

I am happy for you, I really wish you good luck as you will upgrade to legendary very soon, keep helping people here on this forum and also keep advising upcoming members like me.

You are very right. I created few ones too and I noticed creating topics is better than posting. This thread will be helpful for beginners much.
So many newbies are getting it wrong but only posting and not making threads. This is wrong. I will advise them.to look for quality threads like yours and the English ones before making threads, because they will learn, and getting merits will become easy for them.
