My strategy for profit in ICO,
1. I firstly select ICO after a bit of research, the team, the plan and how the coin can be profitable.
2. I use 1/10th of my current ETH for buying token (a strict rule that helps control emotional buyings).
3. I get the coins as early as possible to get the largest pre-sale bonus.

No one can really dictate how much you must invest because it is all up to you. How much are you willing to risk? How much can you afford to lose? It is all based on your budget. You will be the one to decide for yourself so you won't have to blame anyone who told you the price. Just my opinion Smiley

I'm using the following rule of thumb:

  • If I like the concept and wanna "see what happens", typically 0,5 to 1 ETH
  • For projects with good team, product and user base generally 2,5 to 5 ETH
  • For projects I'm really bullish about (niches that I know), 5 ETH and above

These are my figures, but I know friends using the same proportion within their own budgets (some higher, some lower than mine). But in any case as new ICOs are popping up on a daily basis, its super important to stay cautious and do some research before funding the ICO. Try to diversify your investment across multiple projects and be prepared that you might suffer a heavy blow.

Hey guys,

I'm starting off with a relatively small budget, but I do want to invest in a few ICOs. However I have no idea what can be a potentially profitable amount, not necessarily short term, but in the long-ish run.

How much do you guys invest in an ICO that you believe in on average ?
In my case, I invest 10-50$ on ICO's that I believe are average. In fact I rarely invest on ICO's because I only invest on ones that I see potential for growth. If I am certain of an ICO's success and it's profitability, I invest more than 500$ or more depending on my budget for that month. For long term holding though I invest as much as 1400$ especially on ICO's like omisego and other top coins. Still, at least 10$ would be a profitable amount itself if one is in for long term.

This depends on the project itself. If I see a lot of potential I am willing to invest more, but for projects that only have a certain level of potential, and dont look that promising to me, I rather go in with a little money, just in case it takes off. So that I dont loose out if it does. In most cases I go in with around $250 - $500. But this strategy also failed in more cases then it did work out, most of these ICO's I invested in are now below ICO price and I would have had a lot more gains if I just stayed in BTC. But thats the risk.

1-10 ETH, with multiple ICO's below their initial price, anything else is assuming quite a bit of risk.

If I fully trust it, I can invest something around 5 ETH approximately. If I liked the idea, but not about the team, I invest around 1-2 ETH generally. This  is my style.

I normally invest about $2000 in an ICO if the project looks promisable in the future, but most of the ICO are not successful so choose the right ICO to invest or else you might lose your hard earned money.

I take chances with ICO a lot. For a very good project, invest between $1000 to $5000. For project I am not certain of, I invest between $100 to $200

everything from about 100 to 1000 $. Maybe more if I am very sure, that it will rise. Most of the time it would be better to buy it after the ICO phases...but yeah I cant wait if I think it is worth it Cheesy
