I think that portion of your earnings are still good compared to what I did before, I spent all of my salary to gamble. Thats the time I became addicted and almost lose my family because of this addiction. Good thing I overcome that stage of my life and now im focus on my family. I still gamble but with discipline and limitation.

I am single , so I dont really have to take out money for the family . Gambling for me has been a personal affair and is always going to be , so I dont think I would be ever disclosing my wins to my family. I have ad would have a job with good salary to support my family , beside that gambling wins can go to fulfill desires .

Agree and after all, it's not always you just spend money on gambling of that percentage and at least there is definitely a good time to earn from gambling. Anyway, the decision to quit is better but there will definitely be a certain time for you to come back again to gamble even though it is only done occasionally using money that is not much I feel also it is not a problem because you still prioritize the family.

Exactly! And as I also observed some of the people that maybe we can say "below average" people or poor are still gambling, I don't think it will solve their poverty.

And also consider those people who are gambling just to be entertain only. Family first before everything else, you should feed first the family before spending some of your money in a very risky way which is gambling.

Indeed, it won't but somehow they put some risk for the sake that they'll might be lucky someday and become an instant millionaire. But the sad note is that they never realize how much they lose for many years they've been doing this.

Believe it, gambling is not a solution to poverty but it leads us to have a miserable life. We can't see it now but could be visible later when we are struggling with debts and then we realize that we are already in the wrong path.

the explanation is familiar . oh i know , this happen to some families that i saw on video documentary where the family hasnt food to eat and children werent going to school because the father is an addicted gambler .

we are lucky that we are still in our right mind despite of spending some time on gambling . as early as possible when still can think properly , its better that we put a mindset that family should be our first priority if we dont want to end like the ones that we saw on some videos .

Sigh. Gambling should really just be for entertainment purposes and with a side of profit if your lucky. It's like going to an expensive theater to me I come get some fun and head out. I think the question has the presupposition that there is a certain amount needed for gambling. There is no money needed for gambling. It should be zero. If there is money used and intended for gambling, it is not because it has to be there or it is necessary or needed. Gambling should not be part of everyone's regular budget. Nobody should be saying like 50% goes for food, 30% goes to savings, 10% goes to gambling, and so forth. The money going into gambling should be the extra of the extra savings.

Good reasoning there, I support it. One should never gamble with someone else's money, whether it be his/her friends', parents', relatives' or acquaintances' money. And when you have a family, yeah, the money you make aren't yours completely. You have some obligations to fulfill, and only if something is left after that, you can decide what part of the remainder you are going to spend on gambling.

You're an idiot and a certified addict in gambling, if you do not prioritize your family's expenses more than what you allocate in gambling, your wife can charge you for abusing them, by not giving them their immediate needs, that is why chronic gamblers do not have a family, either they left it for gambling or their family left him for failure to provide the family's need.

Honestly the worst feeling in the world is that time, I struggled to change it as soon as possible, to become independent. But of course the dice drew me in, but I couldn't play with the money they give me, out of respect.
Usually, when they study, people ask their parents for money for "studies", but of course they spend on stakes. I never understood that, because they wonder how parents are? Parents think they're sending their son money for school, maybe barely raised, if their parents don't have the money.

The people you are talking about are completely addicted to gambling even if they deny it because that is the only way to explain their behavior, a reasonable person should use 90% to 95% of his income on the needs of his family and the rest could be used to for some luxury that he may like, if you decide that you want to gamble with that money then that is fine but as soon as that money runs out then you need to stop gambling immediately and if you can't then you need to look for professional help.

If I may suggest though, you might want to cut down on daily gambling and be surprise how much you will save in a week. Weekly or bi-weekly gambling is the best as it helps reduce spending. You might want to try saving up to the till you will finally decide on staying on your own.

Saving is always been suggested and preferable but doesnt mean that you shouldnt play gambling yet you can save up even if you do have this activity and it will depend on how you do mind on saving up for future.
Its totally crazy if you do end up on having no savings because you do focus on spending all of your money on doing gambling activities.Sooner or later you would surely realize that you should have saved earlier
