everything in this world have its own advantage and disadvantage and just like bitcoin,there are greater risk involve and that is why you must be careful not to put all your money into bitcoin ,the price is been driven by speculation and sometimes you can buy at higher price and immediately the price will start falling which can cause panicking and lead you to sell at lower price and this will bring you a loss of your hard earned money,also there is speculation of bitcoin been divided unlike ETH and ETC and if this happened,the price of bitcoin won t remain the same and investor will loss their hard earn money if this happened
I just wanted to know that,what amount of risk is there in investing in bitcoins.
Right now i am planning to buy btc approx 3-4 btc and just hold them as i guess the price of bitcoin will increase in future and i will get some good profit.But i want to know what is the risk involved.Can bitcoin price decrease and is this right time to buy the bitcoin.
Evey investment contains risk, you can't just sit there and ask if Bitcoin investments contain risk or not, it depends on how you make investments in Bitcoin, when you buy and when you sell. I personally believe there is extremely small risk in investing into Bitcoin. The reason why is you will always own (as long as you manage your own private keys) the Bitcoin no matter what the USD value is, so it holding on the BTC while the prices recover. This has happened over and over again but the trend is always up.
My self i am not thinking about risk on Bitcoins. why because have trust on bitcoins. Day by Day Bitcoins currency increases and number of peoples are interesting invest on Bitcoins. in future everything will Bitcoins only.How many bitcoins you have you are the richest person in the world.

most people will says bitcoin is good as the future investment but the risk still high especially for the wallet itself and normally for long term investment people will save their bitcoin at offline wallet but there is some people did a dumb acts that they losing their access to their wallet because got hacked or losing their private keys then automatically they're already lost their bitcoin so in my view even the price of bitcoin will grow but the risk still high

I think bitcoin will be good in future and number of people want to invest on it for future use.if bitcoin price will increase than we will get benefits and gets the more profits,here we have some changes to decrease but decreasing is not an permanent,we have to wait to increase.

While this could be true, it may not stand true for a long amount of time. Think about it when it comes to Bitcoin, it's not like we've always seen price rises. So depending on the time in which you bought in, it could HIGHLY risky. Though it doesn't really matter, the biggest problemwith Bitcoin is going to be the volatility every single day-- and I'm not one of the many people on here that think that this is all going to end up with a net positive. I personally think that it would be better for Bitcoin to hold at a certain price, though that's not something a lot of the traders and others that are in here for the money want to see.

As you can see happening right now there are already attempts to take control over the core protocol. Right now it's mostly from the inside, and lots of it is just noise and bluffing.
However one day there might be forces from the outside trying to split Bitcoin into several chains just too destroy or undermine it's unique characteristics and features.
That's why you never ever should go all in into Bitcoin. Sure the upside potential is incredibaly huge but do not ever underestimate the bad actors and old system! These guys are schemers and know very well how to manipulate, divide and conquer.

well if looking or aiming for long term goal and really using bitcoin as it use to be then you are correct no risk at all but if you are just looking for short term investment and you are aiming for just a day trade risk is everywhere as we really doesn't know what will happen overtime. Basically we don't know the risk in every site if you invest money in a site first is you don't know if the site was trusted there are site that can give you small profit but many site are just scamming people who invested.
Yes it true, we cannot tell how much risk it is. It depends on the site you use some are scam and others are legit. My advice us find a reliable site and that's it when you find it, it will be less risk more profits. It's the site and people you invest in are risky, the coins are not especially bitcoins that rises its value from time to time. There is no risk in bitcoin investment. How about when the coin has split? We don't know what's going to happen on August 1. We don't know how will SegWit activation affect us. The days when you can simply hold your bitcoins and earn profit after a couple of months is already over. The scaling issue is being solved and it can greatly affect the price.
Bitcoin investment is risky right now because of the new update. I want to advise that you use an altcoin to avoid the price decrease of bitcoin. When the price of bitcoin has decreased a lot after August 1, bitcoin holders will be devastated but the price of altcoins will increase. Otherwise, if altcoins' price decreased instead, then it's okay. That's the small price to pay for trying to be safe from the incoming wave.
This SegWit activation is the real pain in the ass that we are all worrying about, splitting bitcoin and stuffs that they want to happen is so confusing, of course if this thing is really going to happen on August 1, just like what you have said, it will be either the price of Altcoin will increase or the price of bitcoin will, either way, it is really risky, because any wrong choice that we are going to made is going to be regretful in the end.
Still, it will depends on us what decisions we are going to make, either we hold it or we are going with the flow with SegWit.

I agree with your first sentence, but not so much with your second. Yes, it can be volatile due to its decentralised nature, but that also means that it needs to be self sustainable to a certain degree. I see no future in Bitcoin crashing drastically as there will always be supply and most importantly demand. People like bitcoin for its decentralised state, something that is the problem with most of the currencies that we use today. Bitcoin will forever and always rely on its users, and there will never be a so-called "middleman" handling the funds and manipulating them.

I do not think that investing in bitcoin can be any risk at all. We will see bitcoin's popularity to grow in the next few years due to the constant supply and demand that is being applied to it. I have invested quite a bit into a bitcoin and so have a few of my friends. Its obvious that the current currencies will not be able to sustain itself in the near future and that we need a uniform currency that we would be able to use all over the world. The only danger that bitcoin can face is it being taken over by an alt-coin or corrupt politicians who do not like the idea of bitcoin being decentralised. This would mean that they cannot sway and manipulate the market in their favour of extra profits.
