I'm 36 - I've been a longtime lurker, first time poster.  I heard about Bitcoin at the same time I heard about SR, I think it was a Wired article.  Probably mid 2011.  I just bought my first bitcoin literally 2 days before the SR takedown.  I've been a gold bug since 07, so BTC caught my interest immediately... unfortunately back then I didn't have the spare change to invest and was too concerned with feeding my family, paying bills, etc.

I like the fundamentals surrounding the BTC economy.  In addition to investing & using BTC now, I'm also accepting payment in Bitcoin for my web design business, though no one's taken me up on that payment option yet, it should only be a matter of time...

I'm in my mid-twenties. I wanted to use a premium service that was only available through payment with bitcoin or Google wallet. Since GW is incompatible with my banks policies I had to use bitcoin.

I'm over 40 and have been interested in distributed computing solutions for many years.

I first tried (cpu) mining in 2011 when I decided I should experience it first hand since I was warning people away.
To be clear, I never expected to actually succeed in mining on my own, but I wanted to see how setting up the client, syncing the blockchain, etc worked out because people were asking for my opinion.

The power to reward ratio, being what it was didn't change my mind.

Then this summer a buddy of mine was tapped to join a new ASIC company, so I grabbed a USB Erupter and played with it on a Raspberry Pi to get up to date.  After 3 months I have only recovered 25% of the cost, but i'll keep it running for as long as it's generating more revenue than the cost of electricity. [Right now I'm only generating about $.07/day profit including the power for the Pi,Hub and ASIC]

I continue to work on my own distributed compute projects and while I remain hesitant about the future of bitcoin, it seems foolish to ignore the current window of opportunity.

Im 20. I first read about bitcoins on a pokerforum. I read a bit about it back then, not too much though. When I really got more into bitcoins it was because of esports-betting.

I am on the wrong side of sixty and retired.

Only heard of BTC a few months ago.  Quivered and shook a bit when I bought my first BTC, after reading all I could after about a month.

I still read all the news about BTC and have bought more.  My average buy price to date is US$111.00/BTC, wish I found out two years ago.

I really would like BTC to be adopted globally, sick of reading about huge payouts to banksters, everything is so corrupt and the poor are getting poorer.

It really concerns me what future the youth of today will have.  If technology advances for the good, like BTC, then there is hope.

I actually did a research paper last year, and I chose to cover the deep web and that ilk. Well, of course by researching that stuff I came across bitcoins and got the wrong impression of them (used only for drugs, illegal weapons, etc.). Teacher loved it, got an A, forgot about everything for a while until I saw bitcoins in a news article and everything came back. Only in the article they weren't presented as an evil currency of hackers and criminals, but a full fledged investment strategy and explained what they were and how they worked, albeit just scratching the surface. Started going in depth on my own, got a wallet and officially jumped in.
