As someone who works remotely, having a quiet environment especially away from distraction will provide more efficiency in my task however it doesn't mean that you should isolate yourself among other people but rather to be able to have enough quiet environment to focus on. Yes, it is hard to work if your children are asking for this and that and playing which could distract from our work but still having someone around or beside you is a great thing to have if you're working remotely.
There are some tips that I do to avoid distractions during the day, without the noise and of course the kids fall asleep quickly. Night tends to be more effectively used for work. Well, that's what I've been doing since the 2020 pandemic started. I changed the pattern of working time moved tonight (stay up). The stillness of the night and the cool atmosphere gave me a much better level of focus. No need to isolate yourself from the people around you. We just need to manage time as ideally as possible.

It really depends on us. I would love to stay at home doing my work. It saves time and money consumed by travelling from work to office and then on the way home and the meals and snacks. At home I can easily grab any food or even cook while having a light work. And I don't have to get dressed well except if there are cameras needed.
Actually I also want that kind of thing for myself at this time because it's clear that working at home is much more comfortable than in a certain office or cafe.
Because someone is always more free to open anything at home than outside the house, for example, such as opening certain websites and also other things that many people don't need to know.

Quote
I know there are also positive reasons to stay at our work places rather than at home. The focus is better. Everything needed at work is always at reach. But if I am given the choice I would love to work at home.
I also prefer to work from home if given two options like that. But for now I still can't work at home because I still live at my parents' house so I need to go out and go somewhere else to work even though it's not more comfortable for me at the moment.

Finding the right space is an important point for someone working remotely. because we will be more focused on work if we are in the right room. imagine if you work in a room where your child is playing back and forth running. it will really disturb your concentration. so make a special room for you to work even if it's in the corner of your room. and make the space special as a place that only you can enter. so you will not be disturbed by people in your house.

Also, other than having the right place, Being able to communicate with someone freely, especially someone who is from your work is one great thing to have as it can provide enough distraction and focus on your work as you won't be able to slack off or be bored at the same time be able to discuss work-related things.

Distractions and lack of boundaries
Many people work from home because they want more time to spend on their hobbies or with their family. But the lack of a concrete boundary between work and home can lead to distractions such as interruptions by the kids or doing domestic chores during work time.

That's my biggest problem. When I work from home my family acts like I'm available all the time. When I work I have my headphones on because it helps me to focus and filter background noise. They see it but still ignore it and poke me all the time asking questions when I can't hear them.

Imagine my wife talking to me standing in the hallway and then when I don't react because I can't hear her she comes over and asks me if I heard what she was saying. Makes me want to scream profanities every time.
Ohh, yeah...I feel that the same as what I've experienced and I felt I was not productive anymore as I can't work efficiently.
With the nature of the environment being at home feel like we are just at home actually and certainly, it affects our mindset and our performance. But I guess, it only needs some adjustment just like what I did, I locked the room and told them that I was at work. But I think it was more convenient for us if we are at the office as our concentration is only on our job, not with the other stuff.

Knowing when to stop
As a remote worker, it can be difficult to know when to unplug and stop working, making work feel never-ending. In one study, 39% of remote workers reported working longer hours than they were supposed to.
This is true but to consider that you are working in the comfort of your own home and with your own PC then we know that we could access out everything specially social media's which even if we do have some work yet we could really ease out the stress and being tired whenever we do access out or looks up something different within in our desktop which is totally my kind of behavior where you could just simply
make out some ALT+TAB sessions even if you are in work unless if your employer is strict when it comes to accessing those sites or having some monitoring but most of the time
they arent really that strict as long you do your job or work.It will vary since not all would be ending up on the same terms and kind of rules on where their employer gives.

To effectively combat those issues, here are some tips;

After the Covid-19 pandemic, the concept of working remotely has completely entered our lives. Even those who previously saw this concept as a utopia had to work in this new order... I did not work remotely during the pandemic. Therefore, I do not have definite ideas about its difficulties. I think creating routines solves any problem. If some routines are created in work planning and we stick to these routines with our teammates, we can handle all the work without any problems. I can't see very sharp differences between remote or normal work. In addition, if I worked at home in pajamas, my motivation would probably drop. I'd try to be minimally serious about clothing... Still, I think it's not a serious problem, anyone with a minimum of work discipline can get used to this new concept over time.

I don't know your specific job but you should pay attention to the tips in the thread above that we can allocate time for all daily activities, even if you work as a freelancer of course you have time to rest and refresh your brain.

But I like freelancers because we can work anywhere as long as we can complete the work on time and according to the expectations of the employer, we can also take time off at any time without being tied to an employment relationship and we can work again whenever we want, so you should be grateful because you have time to be with your wife at home.

as far as i have experienced it is very difficult to be productive by working from home .. there are reasons to procrastinate work which makes it very difficult for us to be productive .. not to mention the many distractions from home and the difficulty of concentrating due to the environment ... i totally agree that looking for the right environment will really help us to be focused and productive

Not on every occasion, if you are in a crowdy location it will obviously be difficult to concentrate and work remotely with all the noise and distractions and less productive, but in a situation where you have a less noisy environment to work, working from home can be great and you can work more than you would necessarily do at work imo.
This goes back to our nature because in this case it is quite difficult to say which one is actually the best because each head obviously has his own opinion and desire because it is part of nature.
There are actually pluses and minuses to both of them depending on how we respond to it because in this case it really comes back to each other's perspectives.

As long as you don't enjoy providing your services and have no purpose in your life, otherwise you won't get bored or irritated easily.
because most freelancers are creative and multi-talented so they can enjoy working from home and doing many activities in their spare time too and besides that they can create side jobs that can be done without the boss or office people knowing, and I think it's very exciting.

This is one of my struggles when we first shifted into a remote work setup. Given that my tasks revolve heavily around reading a lot of stuff and putting things into practice, my attention is easily distracted by my gaming computer or just about anything that moves. We're also not supervised in any way and so I can literally just sleep for 8 hours and still not be reprimanded because of laziness. I got all the comforts that one should have in order to get themselves motivated to work, but it still isn't enough to cure my short attention span which causes me to not care much about the task at hand and do something productive. Gradually though, I learned to focus and get things done. I isolated my workspace in a room wherein there is enough natural light coming in and I can just peek through the window and see the trees etc. Somehow it helped me, as it had a relaxing effect on my mind that gets me through each day with lots of things finished. Unfortunately not everyone has the luxury that I have in order to work comfortably in their homes, but are still more productive than me because it's really a case-to-case basis at the end of the day.

A single lady or man can be productive working at home,  when the environment is less noise, except that you have children that works that's when you can say that it's not nice working at homes, giving you little instance, during COVID-19 many workers do work at home and especially bankers, working at did not stop them, so it's someone that has kids that can reject working at home provided it's a brain work not something that deals with workshop

I have been working remotely for past few month - it is the most difficult thing in my entire career.
The point you have mentioned it very valid - one should be properly dressed before the meeting and before the work - because it adds to your performance
I have noticed that when I work in my night suite I m more lazy but if I shower and change my dress  - I am. more active.
I suppose that it depends on your preferences, personally I find not having to commute or dressing up to be very refreshing, as I can perform my job very well regardless of what I'm wearing when I am working, but I can understand why some people may not like this and could prefer to dress up and follow the same routine they have followed for years on their regular job, even if it isn't absolutely necessary since they are working from home.

In the end I think just do the work that we feel comfortable, if we are comfortable in doing the work, it is certain that the results will also
be more effective. Since I don't want to do the same routine every day, I prefer work that can be done at home. As you said if we work at home
we don't have to spend time dressing up or don't have to think about what clothes to wear. I think working from home also saves us more time,
because we don't have to spend time traveling from home to work. If we want to socialize, there are also many social media that we can use to
make friends, so we don't feel alone.

In my opinion, with the ease of internet access, it is time for us to use the internet to make money. But there are also people who are more
comfortable working in the office, because they want to socialize directly to feel more alive. There is nothing wrong with that, the most
important thing is whatever our choice, as long as we work without harming others and do not violate the law. Both working at home or working as
usual in the office are both good, depending on each person who goes through it. So we have to decide for ourselves which one is best for us,
because only we ourselves know what is best for us.

I think it is a trend theme but it does not mean something new or something that has not happened  before the pandemic, remote work increased in some areas and it became new in others, just that.

Perhaps for some it is a novelty but in any case, just like a job in the company, if you now want to do it from home and they allow it, there should be nothing exoteric or rocket science methods to carry out the activity that corresponds to your abilities.

It really is a matter of assuming it and proceeding to carry out the competent tasks, then if you do not perform, change jobs or you will surely be fired.

For me, working outside the home seems like a lot of trouble. It is necessary to wake up on time and allocate time to do makeup, then there are the road and traffic jams; and finally, communication with not always desirable people.
Working from home, I belong only to myself. There is an opportunity to get enough sleep and do all the important and necessary things that my family needs, and only after that can I devote time to my work. I see it as complete freedom. What I need to do when the day is lacking, I can borrow from the night. But the work will get done anyway, and it won't make me a robot doing the same movements every day.
Actually there are some things that are good and some are not depending on our comfort.
Maybe in terms of personality, people who are used to being alone or often called introverts work at home and in their private rooms can feel more comfortable, but it's a different story for people who like to mingle with others or extroverts.
Actually, it depends on how you react to this, I think, because it's like you like it or you don't like it, it's yourself who feels it.

The stress and the hassle on getting up on bed early and make those usual routine specially on daily commute is really gone when you do work remotely and thats the beauty of it which it cant really be
that stressful on your part but in exchange which you do work on a space where you are just the only one on that certain place or on your bedroom which other people find out to be that too boring
on doing such thing which i couldnt really blame them on because there are really times which we do really love to socialize and interact with other people thats why they do really prefer on going into
certain job sites and do able to see and feel the ambiance with other people but since there are ones who are lonely types or just love to work solo then its up to your choice.
We do have different preference and interest in life.
