I had the opportunity to work remotely during the pandemic period. If this question had been asked to me earlier, my answer would have been that I would prefer to work at the workplace. But once you experience it, you realize that even going to work is a waste of time. Because there are too many alternatives other than the work done at the workplace, and this distracts you from work. Being away from work while at work. It's ironic, but true. Working from home, you can be fully focused and use your time more efficiently. I think working remotely increases productivity. I have experienced and seen.
Depends on what or how would be the set up if your employer is strict when it comes to working hours and your cam shouldnt really be turned off or something like that which you could eventually still
focused on the work just like when you are working on a real office but the thing on what people do like is that you could really indeed do some sort of things if you do work on the convenience of your own home which you could still see your wife and children around if you wanted too and completely do some chores or activity if your work is already done and your employer isnt really that strict
when it comes to that situation. Now that we are getting back to normal then remote workplace is changing up and would be going into those offices that we've been get used to.

As somone who has worked in freelance world for a long long time, I can vouch for the time management. I lived through some horrible times, and even in those days I always calculated what I had left in my time to certain periods and tried to work. Many nights of working at coffee shops, many early days at starbucks, many hard working periods at hospital cafe, all thanks to having some time management.

Its still quite hard, because it gives you the chance to not work if you do not want to, its freelance work so if you work then you earn but if you don't work then you don't earn and that gives people some devilish thoughts of "I already spent so much time on other things and got tired, I do not want to work today" and sometimes I lose to it, but usually I do gather myself quickly.

Time is the currency you ar eselling, everyone can write, code, design, whatever you do, its matter of learning and everyone can learn it, I am not some smart mastermind and say nobody else can do it, everyone in the world can do what I do, its just about learning how to do it, and that requires time, and then requires people to spend time doing it after they learned how to, and that is time too. So you are selling your time, and thats why its so important.

Actually this heavily depends on what you do remotely. There are various jobs you can do on remote and some of them really don't need any travel, while some may be more efficient at office or workplace rather than staying at home in PC.
Personally I would prefer remote work but that's because my work is really venue-independent. I agree OP's points, you have to create the right working space even if you work remote. Setup a clean and quiet place to work, change your clothes even if it doesn't necessarily mean that you wear suit at home, organize your time and use it effectively. That way you don't have much trouble working remotely. Considering wasting too much time and money on travel, you may spend these time and money wiser.

Yup, you got my point. It is a pain that you won't get immediate answers from your superiors especially when you are all communicating through some software like Slack which is the common messaging platform that teams uses.

Also speaking of social interaction, it is better to have personal and physical conversation than just having it done via email or electronically.  Even though I am an introvert, I still enjoy some few physical conversation with people rather than eletronically.

Working from home has actually become a double-edged sword to a lot of workers. It would have been better if working from home remains to have fixed time setup. The problem is that there isn't to many workers. I have heard of complaints from teachers here in my place that working from home has actually made them a lot busier than it was when they worked at school. They're now heavily loaded that the time they're spending working has actually increased. So while you're working from the comforts of your home, it isn't a big deal since you're still too absorbed in your work.

The main advantage of remote work is the ability to plan your day.

By working remotely, you can earn the most valuable asset in the world - time.  But time is only a valuable asset if it is used productively and interestingly.  Therefore, remote work should start with entertainment planning.

What do I want to do today?  Go to the theatre, cinema, go to the beach?  Have sex with a beautiful girl?  Once you have planned your activities, you can get to work.  After all, now you have an incentive to do the job quickly and efficiently, and free up time for an exciting pastime!

Or maybe you want to work in a cafe on the beach?  And swim in the sea during the break?  This is also a great option!

True and no more exhausting trip on the way home which almost feels like death for me everytine I logged my time off and cannot do anything else that I would love to do.

Sadly, many companies are now going back to onsite working due to post pandemic situation we have now and some workers might not see the benefit of being able to work remotely soon though there are pros and cons to both anyways.
Cant really deny which there are really having con's when you do work remotely. One is having that social interaction with co-workers or even with your manager in times of some difficulties or something like that.
Its true that it is really that a big convenience when we do work in the convenience of our home but there are people who do really love to commute and having interaction with other people or simply
does really seek out for some ambiance and not just on their own home. When pandemic hits then this had been the standard which most people been working from home but now
that we are gradually going back to normal then people do really start on working into those typical and daily commutes. Smiley

Working remotely is now a common thing, and some persons may quickly choose that option of work if offered by a company. Working remotely can become as hectic even more as working in the office if care is not taken. Before sharing tips on how to effectively manage working remotely, some major disadvantages and problems this can cause are;
Quote
Distractions and lack of boundaries
Many people work from home because they want more time to spend on their hobbies or with their family. But the lack of a concrete boundary between work and home can lead to distractions such as interruptions by the kids or doing domestic chores during work time.
Knowing when to stop
As a remote worker, it can be difficult to know when to unplug and stop working, making work feel never-ending. In one study, 39% of remote workers reported working longer hours than they were supposed to.
Loneliness and isolation

To effectively combat those issues, here are some tips;
Quote
Find the right space
Whether it’s a room in your home, a shared workspace, or a favorite coffee shop, the environment matters when working remotely. Make sure temperature and noise levels are comfortable for you, you have plenty of space for your equipment, and it’s somewhere you’re not likely to be disturbed. Look for areas that offer natural light to help you feel energized.
Set a schedule
Working remotely often means more flexibility – so you might have more choice about when you do your tasks. But while this can be a very good thing, you might find that not having such strict deadlines means work bleeds into other areas of your life, which can be stressful. So it’s important to set yourself a schedule and stick to it as much as you can.
Get dressed
No, seriously. It may be tempting to work in your pajamas, but it won’t make you feel professional. And it’s not a good look on a video call. Clothes influence our mood and emotions, so wear something that makes you feel motivated, professional and confident. Getting dressed for work will also help you mark the distinction between work and home life, helping you switch off when the working day is over.
Plan breaks
With no prompts to take lunch and coffee breaks, remote workers can find whole days passing in front of a screen. Taking a break is energizing, especially if you can get outside, so set yourself a schedule and make sure every day features at least a walk around the block. If it’s not possible to go out, get some activity going indoors.
Communicate, communicate, communicate
Working remotely requires more communication – not less. Use instant messaging and group chat to stay in the loop with colleagues and projects, video call into meetings, and above all, check in with colleagues and managers.
source
For someone who is exclusively working remotely and has not been inside the company office ever since the break of the pandemic, things like these are very important because well, working remotely could be just as stressful as working from the office minus the commute. May I also add that sitting in front of your computer everyday could cause some detrimental effects to your health so besides planning your breaks, might as well include exercise and a balanced diet in your plans. That's the least you could do for your body and should be the last thing you will neglect because without it, you would not be able to do any work at all.

You mentioned research. We don't have to go far to do research on remote work. In this forum 90% have joined the campaign. Of course this is a remote work that we do.
The terms and conditions applied by the campaign manager are the best, and simple. First we must know in advance what to do. Second, how long the target time must be completed for a job.

Third, where we have to do the work. Fourth, what are the terms of employment. etc. If real job owners also implement this system, I think their work will hit the target every month, even weekly. But in reality, current real enterprise owners are failing to hit the target if the workers are remote. Because the work from day to day continues to change, so the concentration of workers becomes unfocused.

The key to success to be able to do work in a remotely is a compact team and understands the job description, the most common mistake is communication, and even though we can work remotely, offline or coming to the office is still needed to discuss strategic things such as work secrets and so on.
Communication is still one of the important factors in this matter, but regarding chemistry like this, it can actually be anticipated because even though we work as a team, we still have our respective main tasks and responsibilities at work, so this can still be done, plus when we carry out discussions such as when a Zoom meeting, for example, includes discussing apart from plans, of course a discussion of shortcomings as a reference to make our work more focused and better.
Working from home and working remotely is very difficult task - but people have given theri words that they have done more work from then going to the office and wasting so much time.

Remotely work needs many things such as communication and leaders can understand and direct the team according to the procedure, sometimes the leadership does not know the habits and abilities of the team so that what is ordered remotely is ineffective.

Not all types of work can be done remotely, usually light work that is always done repeatedly, if work that requires communication between departments, of course this is very difficult. In addition, it is very vulnerable to fatal mistakes due to mistakes in making decisions.
What everyone must understand is that the work is divided into several models or methods, so that the process will certainly be different and not all work can be completed using methods via the internet. For example, learning to drive a car, although there are many procedures through the internet, but it will not be so effective if it is not touched directly by people who want to learn. So not always every job can be completed remotely by using any tools to support it.

The remote working has a lot of advantages if you can manage your domestice stuff. Many business have prefered and switched to the remote working option and they are happy with the cost cutting . . and end result

Managing domestic stuff during work will cause you working less effective. It will increase time to do regular task (as your primary work will be on your mind all the time), and the quality will also me affected. If a person can do his job, and parallel do some house cleaning or cooking, then his job isnt that hard and if his employer find that out, he might get his salary cut. But you are completely right about cost cutting. Part of our employees work remotely, and companies bill on electricity and gas (building has gas heating) are not murderous (consumption decreased, but utility prices are still high).

Things will probably get messy and it will take you at least a few weeks to get everything organized. But once everything is in order, you will feel very comfortable working from home without any reduction in work efficiency, sometimes even better work efficiency because you will not be under pressure from the boss. When stressed, you can go out to play or play with your pet to relax mentally, especially those who are married and have children, you will have more time for them. To be honest, I am also working from home and I am satisfied with the current situation.

I've been working from home for a few months now and it's true it has pros and cons. I used to work on-site where I was known to be really productive, I've always been recognized as the top employee and doing all my tasks in a timely manner without being idle and distracted. When I tried working from home there was a lot of temptation since no one can see personally what you are doing. There are times that I don't use my working hours productively without even being noticed. Another thing is you will be working with less supervision, if there's something that has to be done right away you will have to communicate it with your leads and wait for a response. Aside from this, there are a lot of conveniences working remotely, you handle your time effectively, save you from traffic, can do more tasks at work and at home and etc. I guess it all falls on how disciplined are you as an employee, it doesn't matter if you are working remotely or not.

For the first time in my life (outside of the Coronavirus 2020 ordeal) I’m working remotely from home and I couldn’t be happier about it. Many of these tips you list out here are all things I try and frequently do. It’s not always easy to be perfect, but I do find myself burning out less and being more productive overall.

Nice to get stuff done during breaks and then being ready for the evening by the time work is over !

Working remotely is now a common thing, and some persons may quickly choose that option of work if offered by a company. Working remotely can become as hectic even more as working in the office if care is not taken.

managing time like we go to work for a company with 5-7 working hours every day even though we do it from home it will be more efficient.  don't lose the habit of interacting with the environment so you don't get stressed easily because you have work pressure.  besides that, you can schedule a day for vacation every week so that you can give justice to your family to spend vacation time together
That is correct working from is now a very common thing these days - many employers are now preferring to hire freelance and the remote worker
But to be a remote worker you have to manage your work and office together at the home - which is very difficult thing

and sometimes the working hours are different from regular working hours, there are many reasons why homework requires extra time, including homework and children the main factors that make extra time to work,
It's very difficult to manage time if you work at home, it takes time to find the right time to work

Force yourself. That is something that not many people do but if you are going to work long term then you should be forcing yourself. You are having trouble waking up early? Force yourself to wake up early, too early if you have to, that way you will go to bed early as well, having trouble finding food to eat, or can't decide? Force yourself to eat healthy, having trouble exercising? Force yourself to do it.

If you keep doing these for a couple of weeks in a row every day, it is going to become your regular day and it won't really take that much time neither and rest of the time you could relax. I have been working remote for so long and never been happier in my life.
If you want to end up not regretting and be able to keep your work, then yes forcing is a must. After all, the adjustments are just in the beginning phase. Soon you will be used to it and will love the new environment and scenario eventually. Although I am also having my remote job these days, but the only difference is that I love its idea in the first place and it’s effective for me.

Not really that difficult if you dedicate a home office place on where you could really do your job and get dressed.Just make sure that you are really that out of  distractions so that you would really be able to make

yourself that productive and wont have the risk on getting fired just because you hadnt done your job well. Its not really that much of an issue and just treat it to be a job which you do go on everyday.

I do prefer on working remotely on which you could really make yourself that comfortable since you are on your own home but eventually you would really be missing out those
social interactions with other people. Its not had if you do just stick out with the basics and let other family members know that they shouldnt really be distracting you
while you are working.
