Sell or not? That is up to you. We can't decide that. Once it hits the ATH, it means you are already on profit. Do you think you have made enough profit? Do you want to sell and enjoy the profit? Then go ahead, sell it. You can buy again later when the price drop or a market correction takes place. But know that the price might never drop again. If you think you the price will go up more and you can hold longer (for years), then keep holding until you reach your profit goal. This is something you will decide according to your own plans.

Assuming I've made up my mind to hold on to a token for many years but after a year this token hit a new ATH what should I do as a newbie? Sell or not sell?

If your need to grow your wallet 1st one  your need a transaction.Join bounty campaign and airdrop and invest some stable coin.increasing your investments through trading and need hold of some stable coin.i am also hold on to many token for many years but most of token it's fake.So don't worre it's easy.crypto depend on your luck and hard working. There are many ways in the crypto if you wana grow your wallet, buy sell transaction it is most importent and need to create NFT and sell them.
WALLET will never grow, your assets/money can be grow if you holding promising coins for long term. You got misunderstand, he/she asking about for the long term investment not for bounty or airdrops. And what is the benefits you see to holding stable coins? I don’t know why you need to holding it.

I still believe that alt season is about to come soon. When that time comes, just like in the previous bull cycle, most alts will do well in the market. I would suggest holding top-ranked cryptos as they have more potential and are more stable to weather the market. Create a portfolio in your wallet for those cryptos and sell those with lesser potential. In time your portfolio will grow in value.

I once had an experience like you buying a super cheap token called WIN, when I reached a new ATH I sold it, I didn't wait for tomorrow, one month I sold the price it fell worse than what I bought, I made a profit.

If you look from my experience, now you can draw conclusions.

No matter how good the token looks always take profit, if you still have some interest in the project wait for corrections and buy again, you will grow faster if you take profit and buy back because the quantity of tokens you own will increase more.
The advice you gave does look very good and can be used by those who have patience and high optimism on a project or coin because some people still don't have enough patience to run it now and also in the past, even though the way it has been very good.

I am assuming you are talking about the growth of the capital/Coin that you hold in your wallet. It totally depends on you whether to sell it or not If your set target is hit you can sell it or if you plan to continue to hold I would suggest you take out your principal amount at least so that If it drops you will not be in loss. If I were you I would prefer to sell at least 50% of the coin and book the profit because I do not want to repent later when it drops back because this market never runs in one direction it runs both ways.

Everyone holding coins only expects new ATH, so that the investment they run gets the maximum profit, then what do you expect after the new ATH has been reached, holding back may be very speculative for the future, especially if the coin you hold drops at its lowest price, for me it's more well you let go of the coin, then try to find another coin that is likely to reach a new ATH again

For me it really depends on the project. Some projects are worth selling at some point and some projects are worth holding for many years. But if you know certain types of analysis or knowledge on determining possible coin/token trends, reading charts, even at least few knowledge about it, you can definitely sell at a certain ath and again buy at your assumed lowest point if you think the project will soon reach another ath in the next few years. It's just like increasing your investments through trading and I think that's smart.

Take a profit you never know what's going to happen, that's my biggest regret I HODL a coin for a year when it hit an all-time high I failed to sell a portion or percentage, and when it crashes I'm left waiting for the next all-time high, this is one of my biggest regret being too greedy always thinking that it will still go up but unfortunately, it did not.

And that's the number one rule as a trader, I mean what are the other reasons of investing or trading other than taking profits right. There's no such thing as growing wallet but growing portfolio and assets are the main goal of each and everyone, also I would like to add that it maybe not easy to grow our assets but it is possible here in cryptocurrency what it only need is for us to know how to grow it and how to make an effective strategy to take profits everytime we trade or invest.

...Sell or not sell?

I think that when you bought this coin, you set a goal for yourself, with the achievement of which you wanted to sell this coin. And if the price of the coin has reached the target zone, then you should sell it, because very often after the coin reaches high, it goes to a deep correction.

there are many ways in the crypto world if you want to get rich, or just grow your wallet, Airdrop, create NFTs and sell them on OpenSea or Binance,
or also you can trade, indeed trading requires capital, but the return you get if you are proficient, then your profit will be more than your salary, keep fighting but make sure you don't feel selfish and don't feel greedy, because it will all hurt you when trading.
Creating and selling NFTs will take time to develop and get an market, most of the sellers there are working on that and it is defenitely a competitive market where you have to depend on your buyers than trading where you only need the money at hand.

Airdrops are worthless these days, with only shitcoins being spammed into wallets with the theft of personal information which is collected from the wallet owners. Stop falling for these easy data-grabs that some shady groups are doing.

By far, trading is the most consistent method to grow your crypto assets, but needs to be done with a calm mind and with the ability to identify buy/sell points in short times. Most of the members of this forum have some day job and they can allocate a fraction of their salary to trading if they wish to instead of spending on shitcoins. Shitcoins should be sold as soon as possible, there is no use of holding them for years and watching them in red.

I advise you to sell 50% of the profits you made from this token that hit a new ATH and recover your capital and leave the 50% to the coming years. The token that hit the new ATH is a good indication that this token is good to hold and supported by a strong community and a strong team that is still on the way to achieving the project goals and it has supply and demand, so sell and hold the rest in your wallet.
That is not a bad strategy in the case the ATH of the coin in which you invested is at least twice as high as the level at which you bought, this way you at least recovered the money you invested in the coin and now you are playing with free money, so even if you were to lose all the rest of the money that still remained invested in the coin that should not be a source of worry as you lost nothing while kept open the possibility of making a lot more money in the process.

Frankly, I hesitated between answering this question or not. Because any wrong information I will give you may cause you to lose your money completely. But in general, the cryptocurrency you invest in is very important. 1 year is a long time for cryptocurrencies. Because the fomo in crypto money is changing so fast that those who leave big money today will not leave any money tomorrow and can be garbage. You need to do your risk analysis very well. Finally, I am in favor of keeping marginal cryptocurrencies for a long time.
I think the same as you. it's true that the price of crypto coins moves quickly and is difficult to predict. maybe today or this month can reach Ath but we don't know if the hype will still continue or it will be extinguished. and it can bring down the price instantly. I remember the token that I held for quite a long time because so many news responded positively to this token and a lot of news said it was good for the long term. but the reality is that instead of reaching a new Ath, it keeps going down and down so that assets are getting less and less. so the point is in crypto sometimes something unexpected can happen. so in my opinion taking advantage when profit is much better. because the price of a coin doesn't always go up. there must be a price correction and go down first. and buying back when it goes down can be a good move. don't be afraid a coin will never go down in price. In fact, the bitcoin rate can go up and down.

It depends on the potential of the tokens you get, usually a quality project and their fundamentals are strong with a long project path can be ATH many times, but if the project is a very short project there is very little chance of hype going back, it's worth selling immediately when have already ATH because their project is about to be abandoned, but it's your choice, basically it's holding and selling it depending on how good the project is.
