Use ledger nano or trezor to protect your coins , You could use it in myetherwallet and the hackers couldn't access it if you have your coins in the hardware wallet.
I've just ordered myself a Ledger Nano S for 94 Euro. From what i saw, it is the recommended way to use on the Myethereumwallet.com when i try to log in there. If i try to log in using the Json file or the Private key i get the message "This is not a recommended way to access your wallet."
You can keep your MEW safe by ensuring that you are accessing the correct url and always check the SSL certificate is on. For additional security, use a hardware wallet which does not reveal your private key to the browser.

I think you should use only with MetaMask or EAL, or cryptonite, but I prefer Metamask from all of this

In my honest opinion to be the most secure you should be using a hardware wallet. Although if you have a hardware wallet you are going to want the best virus protection you can find and make sure you aren’t getting hacked. If you do choose to stay with an online wallet, make sure the URL is always green (HTTPs with valid certificate). Make sure your computer is protected. Make sure you have backups of private keys.
Always check that you are entering the real site and not any phishing link, secondly never use your privately from any public computer or it can be compromised, thirdly never click unknown links in the email.
The only way you can protect your myetherwallet is by not giving your private keys to anyone. Keep them safe. That is your only weapon against theft because if ever MEW experienced some kind of internal problems, you can no longer protect your account. Maybe you can if you are updated with the news and you anticipate hacking.
In my opinion, you should not log on to them often, you use etherscan to check your tokens. and only log on to them when selling them. This will reduce the risk for you when hackers always stalk account.
I am protecting my wallets by just keeping all the private keys secured that no one can be know except me. Have also a back files so that if it loses you can have other files.
by not using it! MEW is a web wallet and will always put you at risk when you use it. there is an option to download the source code for it and use it in offline mode but it is a lot of work and you'll still need to use an online machine to broadcast the transactions.
