I think the best way to spot it, is to listen to what you close friends and family have to say about it. Sometimes players are so addicted that they don't even notice, that their lives had change a lot. Like spending much more time in gambling and having no interest from other activities that they use to like before.

Yeah sure, I will like to add that if he keeps borrowing from friends and family for gambling or even steal from them to make recovery of list funds then he's addicted. Lastly if he's always found in the midst of gamblers or casinos and other betting houses almost every time then you should know his problem.
