Anarchy is not chaos.
I will soon have a premium hotel. How to make as many as possible bitcoin transactions out of it?

- Give 5-10% off of advance room reservations when paying bitcoin (wpb)?
- Give 20% off of restaurant bill if it's over $100 per person wpb?
- QR-code room service menus with one click ordering?
- In bars, also direct ordering from tables wbp?
- All staff wears/carries QR-codes for tipping?
- Huh

Cool if I can be responsible for multimillion$ increase in bitcoin market cap Smiley

Wow, this is amazing. Seeing as you have good reputation, I'm willing to help out with anything I can.
Student with a lot of time on his hands and fluent in 4 languages.

4 languages? Impressive!

There was a joke once circulating around:

What do you call a person that speaks two languages?  Bilingual.

What do you call a person that speaks three languages?  Trilingual.

What do you call a person that only speaks one language?  American.  Wink

I, unfortunately, fall into the last category.  I guess we feel like we can get by with English in most of the world.  Also, I think start teaching foreign languages too late in our schools.  Most students only start taking another language in high-school but studies have shown that it is much easier for very young children to pick up other languages.  Oh well.  I am thankful for Google translate.

For Americans, maybe English and Ebonics count as bilingual?
Nah. Ebonics "speakers" can't even understand each other.

Well as long as your alive you can learn, that or watch some drama or TV series with subtitles and learn the slow way Smiley

Well... if I devote 30 minutes to learning a new language every day, by watching the YouTube tutorials, how much time it will take me to master the language fully? I am referring to a world language, such as French, German or Russian.

Well spending 30 minutes of your time to watch a language tutorial may be faster than watching some television series with English Subtitles
But you can learn the connotations and the subtexts while learning the main language through dramas and television shows
French I guess reading Le Petit Prince and learning from Children Stories would help
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4mVBaKd45jk
German and Russian never tried myself although
Guess you can find stories as well bit slower but in exchange more entertaining
That or find your favorite series and try to find the subtitles in English and rewatch in German Russian or French
Or music Smiley

(native) German, English and some Slovakian here - and of course, always open for opportunities to work or support in Bitcoinbusinesses Wink

hmmm... I am fluent in English and two local languages, and I can read the Cyrillic alphabet. Should have taught myself either German or French long ago.  Angry Now it is too late to learn any additional language.

You could wrap up speed and convenience in a way that people will notice.  You could have restaurant, bar, or room service menus with scancodes.  Your customer can just scan the code and touch the 'confirm payment' button that appears on his phone, to order and pay for an item in one step.  Done.  No waiting for waitstaff, no need to call roomservice, no mistranscribed orders, no messing about with the bill, etc.

Likewise any 'extras' that the hotel might provide as convenience services, such as hair salon or spa appointments, dry cleaning or laundry, conference rooms, A/V equipment, stay extensions, and the thousand other things in your hotel service directory -- Scan once, and done.

I can even picture the hotel pushing the 'convenience payment' for services outside of the hotel itself; for example cut a deal with a cab company that allows them to put some predefined scancodes into your hotel's service directory.  Then, if someone wants a cab to the airport/downtown, they can pay for it the same way they pay for things in the hotel itself, and it's absolutely seamless as far as the customer is concerned.

Or, you know, they could use that old-fashioned phone number thing, go through the hassle of talking to a human, then go through later hassle of getting out their wallet and paying for the ride in a separate step, etc....  that's in the service directory too, but it's a pain in the ass by comparison, right?

If I visit the hotel, I would prefer to make as few bitcoin transactions as possible.

Maybe you could have an BTC account that guests can fund before/during the stay, and then make a smooth UI to pay for the services?

Provocative idea.

Because Bitcoin is programmable money, the hotel in an ideal world, upon arrival has you issue a series of small denomination bitcoin transactions whose sum is slightly greater than what you will spend altogether. Each of these transactions requires the private key of the hotel to spend. FYI, These are called N of M transactions by the protocol. The hotel is the escrow agent in this 2 of 2 version.

N of M transactions are defined by the protocol but not yet a wallet feature.

In the ideal world, the smooth UI you mention simply notifies the hotel of the item particulars and enough of the previously issued transactions to cover the purchased item are spent by the hotel.

Pay as you go.

Hi,

why to "reduce" it to your own business?
AFAIK especially in the luxuysegment of tourism, every "tourist attraction" loves to offer their activities to Hotels.

If you have someone, doing the contracting with them, you could easily offer to accept payments in BTC for everything that belongs to a (Luxury-)Holidaytrip from A-Z.
Even if those involved 3rd parties would like to get paid in local currency, you just have to exchange it for them.

- Airport Limousine Services / Taxi
- guided Sightseeings
- all the Wellness stuff
- Tickets for surrounding Museums, Concerts or whatever events happening around
- Vouchers to other Restaurants or Shopping Malls
- Wine tastings
- ...and everything else the region has to offer
***EDIT: and of course, you could also do the booking for the flights etc. too!

So you really could say: the whole stay is paid 100% in BTC.
What do you think?

I feel stupid now.  Thanks.  Wink

I understand enough Spanish and French to order at restaurants though!  And I can also pronounce the names of most NHL hockey players.  That is something many Americans can't do.   Grin

A Great Time to Start Something!

I am assuming you will be utilizing the castle in Estonia as a hotel right?

Hopefully we can make a trip out there next year if all goes well.  If BTC reaches $10,000 or so I see many trips in my future!  Grin

The kids want to go to Disney World first though.  I guess I can't blame them.  Wink  Although I would prefer Europe over Disney World at this point.

When the Dollar is low, many people come to the USA for vacations, weekends and sometimes just shopping trips.
If BTC goes high enough, someday many of "us" will be able to travel ......even travel to the Moon!  Cheesy

Estonia? I thought that Risto Pietila was from Finland. Anyway.... having a hard time in differentiating between the Finnish and Estonian names... they sound so familiar.  Grin

Has he posted any pictures of the hotel yet?

Yes he is from Finland but the castle is in Estonia.  http://bitcoinexaminer.org/bitcoin-castle-born-estonia/
