I think that Bitcoin will never become a widely used cryptocurrency. There are a lot of disadvantages, unlike other alternative cryptocurrencies. A high commission and a very long wait for the confirmation of the transfer completely kill the desire to use bitcoin.

Paying with Bitcoin at supermarkets is a bad idea because confirmation times are so long, waiting makes things worse. Bitcoin is not such an instant means of payment.
We can withdraw money from Bitcoin ATMs located near supermarkets.
The use of credit or cash is better because of their reliability. After all, they are just one currency like any other. The purpose of the payment is the same. I realize that paying by credit card can help accumulate incentives. This will be an advantage over other means.

Yeah, I'd rather spend the shit money and save my bitcoins, but I can't wait until I can use real money everywhere. I'd rather get paid in bitcoin and spend bitcoin.

You don't know or not but there are many supermarkets and stores that accepts Bitcoin.
Even a KFC in Canda also accepts payments through BTC.
Yes i know it's yet to be globalised to accept is a primary way of paying for bills , but still i like seeing the progress growth of the coin.
And yes if you are working online then there are many companies who pay you through Bitcoins but still not major of the companies do it.
Nevertheless let's hope for the best, and see where Bitcoins take us to the near future.

Just wait for few years, everything will become cashless as we enter the cashless society. As of now, we see that there are merchandise that develop and integrate the e-wallet in purchasing items. Malls are also open for digital payment such as paypal and gcash. Soon, we will see a new qr code posted in cashier. All of sudden, cryptocurrency will become new ways to pay the products. We will shop without worrying how much fiat we brought. It will happen soon because internet is now everywhere. Well, I hope this happens to my country also but we knew that it's kinda impossible since the volatility of cryptocurrency might affect the businesses. Some stores are already accepting digital payment, but I doubt they will accept cryptocurrency as payment if they can accept digital money, a practical way. Those who're using cryptocurrency payment have a lot of investments in bitcoin so it doesn't matter if the price goes down.

Here in India, I have been shopping from supermarkets using Bitcoin for the last one year. Here is how I do it:
1. I get Amazon Gift Cards in exchange for Bitcoin
2. I add the gift card to my Amazon Pay balance
3. I shop from Big Bazaar (largest super market chain in India) and make the payment using Amazon Pay.
Another method is to purchase Big Bazaar gift cards, either directly using Bitcoin, or using Amazon Pay.

Why people want this feature so much? What will you get from this? You will only loose on conversion at transaction fees
Indeed, why spend your bitcoin like that when you can actually use that to invest more in crypto, you should use your spare money when buying something especially your basic needs. At a time like this bitcoin is becoming popular and there's a lot of countries that are adopting cryptocurrency as a payment. It is really helpful this time because of the pandemic so we don't need to hold physical money or fiat.

The time is nigh, i supposed as major businesses and investors are moving in. This is probably the start of a major adoption, and big companies such as grayscale, Fidelity, micro strategy, square and recently have recently been buying Bitcoin allocating 1% of their portfolio into Bitcoin, and sooner or later when Institutional money comes flooding in. There's just not enough Bitcoin in circulation.

The only way this scenario could become true for bitcoin is through lightning network because no one is going to pay a 3-5$ fee every time they buy something. The way i see this going down is some kind of big company creates a special token/coin to be used for this type of micro transactions(payments at supermarkets, local stores, coffee shops and others like that).
pretty much true. With the current state of transaction fees, adopting bitcoin as a form of payment will be really hard for small business which is basically the first entities to dictate a change in the business world. If we compare digital currency with physical currency, I prefer digital currency, including Cryptocurrency.
But for now, I still like Bitcoin's not so fast development model, because for now Bitcoin is not ready to be used by 7 billion people in the world.

The idea is nice and interesting but not everyone is waiting for such to happen nevertheless it’s coul start from your neighborhood. It’s all about awareness and orientation, you can as well introduce or initiate the idea to the local stores supermarket in your neighborhood. Using bitcoin to pay for items would be really amazing and smart to operate. Its just for the store to have a valid bitcoin address and wallet to access The funds and keep their key secure.
I can’t wait for the day I would walk into a store and after purchasing all my needs I would have the option of paying through either bitcoin or using my credit card. Until then we keep creating the awareness of bitcoin to everyone and it’s importance.

I think this system will start soon in my country but many shops own don't have any idea of bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies for payment which will make them find it difficult to transact with those who want to use bitcoin to pay for their goods they bought. This system will really reduce those who are still making use of fiat money for payment. Many bitcoin users will be very happy with this new system that is about to happen in the country to make things easy for them in the area of buying in the supermarket, shops, and pay with bitcoin.

Not until LN is available and widely adopted. Just imagine spending BTC for daily purchases today - a few dollars of fee if you want your tx confirmed in next block most of the time, ~10 minute wait till your transaction confirms - how that would even work, do people have to stay in the shop until their transaction gets confirmed?
For now, if you don't want Visa and your bank knowing what kind of butter are you buying, you should stick to cash. It's better to convert your BTC to cash once a month and spend it, inflation doesn't matter on such a small scale.

I agreed with you, there is still a lot of work to be done if Bitcoin can be used as a payment method everywhere. Transaction process and time is one of them. I can't go to a shop and wait until my transection is complete, it's not possible. Again there is a matter of fee and costing where bitcoin has to do a lot of development yet.
Most of us knew that once the full use of LN it will make things possible, with more business who already seen the potential of this chain, there many online business who accept btc as payment.
It takes time before the full implementations as fees and transaction speeds still holding many people to use this system.
But when the time comes for LN and everything run smoothly, the big chance to
use bitcoin in everyday transactions is always there to come.

It depends on the location you leave to in most western countries we have seen some changes to this aspect you are talking about. But in Africa I think this will take much time and also people need to be educated about the potential and opportunities available using bitcoin and crypto in all. Then we will see much more supermarket and big companies using bitcoin as mode of transaction.

It is way better if we will going to replace fiat currency by bitcoin that if only government will going to approve. Fiat currency is already an old way of exchanging transactions though it was proven effective and efficient but it could not compare when using bitcoin.
First, you can be anonymous in doing bitcoin transaction and that privacy is very important to you.
second, transaction is decentralized and that no one will be making your transaction except the miners that will only take minimal fee as much as possible compared to when using third party services to make transaction done.
third, you have hold your funds not like in fiat that you need to store it in the banks.
So, I guess using bitcoin is relatively good but for now it is still not possible.
Government won't let it happen unless bitcoin starts to pay a large amount of tax and it will not be a good thing because if bitcoin starts to pay a big tax, it will be having a small price rise and big price down. We are going to have a bitcoin crisis and our earnings will be smaller than what we are expecting. I hope that government let peoples to pay on supermarket using bitcoin even if bitcoin is not paying a large tax so that people still can earn using it and can have a better accessibility. It not supermarket but some small merchants here in our country are accepting bitcoin already. I just haven't tried it yet because they're far from where I'm living. I'm currently in my province and it's in the city. Maybe when things are well with the pandemic and all, I'll see it for myself and try to purchase a thing or two with my btc.
There is also an online shopping platform that accepts btc as payment but I haven't tried it as well. Still trying to earn more btc and spend an amount that I can afford.
