The only way this scenario could become true for bitcoin is through lightning network because no one is going to pay a 3-5$ fee every time they buy something. The way i see this going down is some kind of big company creates a special token/coin to be used for this type of micro transactions(payments at supermarkets, local stores, coffee shops and others like that).

If I am only earning through crypto I would also be thrilled with the idea since I don't have to pay for any transaction fee on converting my crypto into Fiat and the withdrawal fee.
But I think for those who are like me who only earns in crypto for extra income and have Fiat I think most of us would rather pay up with Fiat than to lessen what we hold in crypto.
So far, for instant and micropayments, the use of fiat, both physical and electronic, is still quite efficient. It can even be more effective because we know that there are very few people who accept transactions using crypto. That is why we need to pay attention to its effectiveness with the needs and availability of networks around us. So you don't have to choose one, we can use both depending on the situation and conditions, use the best at the right time, it will be more efficient.
Well, I am very happy related to PayPal innovation with crypto, this will make the reach of crypto wide so that many people know about it.

The Standard Protocol - Solving Inflation
Just a feeling I have. It's all credit cards and dollars and shit.

Yeah, I'd rather spend the shit money and save my bitcoins, but I can't wait until I can use real money everywhere. I'd rather get paid in bitcoin and spend bitcoin.

I am sure everyone who uses bitcoin have thought or wished for this at one point or the other. It is only when buying and selling can be made with bitcoin in the mainstream world such as buying goods in the supermarket, paying your plumber and carpenter for their services with bitcoin, does bitcoin achieve its true purpose.
When bitcoin was made, it was made to be a currency just the US Dollar and the Euro and the British Pound only that it is not controlled by any financial institution or the government

God, save BTC!
I think that it is still a long time!
For now, even when buying via PayPal, your bitcoin will first be converted to dollars, and then there will be payment for goods!
Well, first need to develop a mechanism of taxation when paying with bitcoins...

We've got more number of stores accepting bitcoin. Right now more people have started to spend from the holdings same as the traditional currency. This means people were also giving importance to it as currency rather than just an investment asset.

Saw a thread, a dentist has started to accept bitcoin for the treatments provided. Same as that supermarket owners personally can start accepting bitcoin. This might slowly encourage more business people to get into bitcoin acceptance.

Bitcoin is accepted as payment for services in many places. I recently saw that tickets to a rock festival were sold for bitcoins. Then, half a year later, the organizer of the festival wrote on social networks when bitcoin grew in price, that he had already forgotten about bitcoin, but it significantly increased in price and profits increased over time.  Smiley

It's not even remotely realistic that we will see paying using bitcoin at the local supermarket in the forseeable future, and i'm talking in the next 2 to 3 years time span.

Maybe in the next 10 to 15 years we might see something like that take place, but not anytime soon.

In Code We Trust
That's a good idea, but I prefer it when I want to pay bills or buy goods in e-commerce using bitcoin because I'm lazy to leave the house especially during the current pandemic.

Are we pertaining solely to bitcoin when we say we want to pay using bitcoin in supermarkets? Because for me, even though I am not directly paying through Bitcoin, I have a wallet where I can sell bitcoin for credits such as the CRO wallet. The means of fund came from bitcoin, then their visa card allows me to swipe it easily, so I can transact wherever I am with 2 percent discount.

Anyways, if we are pertaining directly to bitcoin, there are also some markets that accept it, in Singapore for example, based from the bitcoin documentary that I've watch, department store owner in Singapore just started using Bitcoin and didn't accept fiat. That's how we should start promoting Bitcoin to people.

I also can't wait for the Supermarket to accept bitcoin for paying the bill. For me it easier and safer when you pay through bitcoin and another advantage here is if you are lazy to carry your wallet or cold cash just pay through bitcoin and it's more easy than carrying you wallet and pay cash.

We are all eagerly awaiting this news.  Like you, I am a lazy person. I also want to shop with bitcoin from e-commerce sites.  Although ridiculous, it is true that if bitcoin is accepted in supermarkets, then bitcoin will also be accepted in e-commerce sites.

That is a possible thing yo happen but I think it will take so many years. There are still many countries that do not know cryptocurrency and they are afraid of trying it because of some reason.
Let's just wait until it happens. Or Why not you're the one who first initiates a move in your area? Like introducing to your friends, neighbors, and businesses. Then if bitcoin is already an option payment recognize by many people, it might be an option to some supermarkets to accept it as well.
If that is the case then it would so hard for the OP to do that, Imagine how broad bitcoin is and then you are the only one who is teaching it to your neighbors, of course, it would take so much time before they understand it, better for him to use social media to introduce bitcoin to people.

From my view, I think that is too costly like buying something for a single dollar. You will be paying transaction fees similar to what you are buying. Unless if you buy cars and gadgets and anything above a hundred dollars that would make sense. Unless if they change how transaction fees work on the bitcoin network. I dont trust paying bitcoin also using centralized wallets because in most cases there will be like system maintenance and updates which prevents you from using your funds. What if you are in a restaurant and is about to pay the bill but because you dont have the sh*t money because you are too confident on bitcoin and you are unable to pay because of that update. There are always pros and cons between currencies. But for me I still prefer using regular money or fiat as I just have to pick them out from my pocket and pay directly. Other cons to paying bitcoin is that if your device is fully drained with battery, mistakenly paying a higher amount than what you are suppose to pay, device can be stolen, weak against EMP if ever war occurs, internet connection required, entire internet is shut down, outages of internet services. What are your thoughts?

If you want to pay with bitcoin in supermarkets you need to know that Bitcoin transactions are slower than other forms of payment, which are cash and bank cards.
Paying with Bitcoin has a higher transaction cost. It is impractical with intermittent transactions.
I hope there will be a company that provides a bitcoin payment service but relies on another protocol like bitcoin wrap to make transactions faster and less costly.
I think paying in form of Bitcoin will be faster and smooth flow of transaction, why? It is because we promote and like Bitcoin or crypto because we can easily made transactions, of course if it's accepted in both ways. Regarding about company that will pay in form of Bitcoin, i think it will take a longer time until it happens why? Simply because some countries maybe not ready or bitcoin industry is not known very much.
Think again, if you pay via bank card it will only take a few seconds to swipe the card and sign the receipt, but paying via Bitcoin needs to wait until confirmation is first.
The purpose of Bitcoin was created to make payments fast.
Bitcoin's creator could not have expected Bitcoin to have such popular support. Like Ethereum, congestion, and wait.

The merchants that are accepting BTC as mode of payment are very small in comparison with what the revolution has to over. Hope we are going to see a mass adoption in the near future and embraced as the easiest and reliable means of exchange by Governments of all cadres.

You can actually do that already. Just get a Bitcoin credit card from Binance or Crypto.com and you can pay your food and drinks in Bitcoin. Or you can buy gift cards for various supermarkets for Bitcoin on Bitrefill or Coinsbee. Pretty easy, adoption is here.  Cool

As far as I know, none of the supermarkets around the world accepts direct payments in Bitcoin. It is not very practical, due to high transaction fees, volatility in the exchange rates and time required for getting the confirmations. What you can do is that you can convert Bitcoin to supermarket gift cards (using sites such as Bitrefill) and you can make the payment using these gift cards.

Bitcoin fluctuates every now and then so it may affect the price of the goods. I am not aware of converting bitcoin into supermarket gift cards because it is not yet legalized in our country. Bitcoin does not have its physical form so the only thing I do is to convert my bitcoins into fiat currency and spend it in supermarkets. Also, the volatility of the market makes bitcoin not widely accepted in some large merchants as well as there is no way to reverse the transaction once it is done.

Unfortunately, regulation is becoming more and more strict. Thus, 2 years ago South East Asia was seriously discussed the possibility of implementing digital assets operations into daily routine, but currently they support Blockchain development, but not crypto. Also, got bad news from CIS region that crypto holders could be even imprisoned.
China launched Digital Yuan for inner usage, but actually it's not active in daily routine, as my Chinese friends say....
Do you think the situation can change in future?
