There are many investment opportunities in the digital money market. If you have 500 USD to invest, you can make ico with this money or invest in the right subcoins.
I think I'd put it in $MAN or $VEN...or perhaps more of a high risk project like $TIO or $INS. Many options to choose from, perhaps even getting some eth and wait until it reaches ath again would be an option?
Why not go with this money to a promising ICO? In my opinion, this would be a win-win option, since you definitely do not lose anything. In the worst case, your $ 500 will stay with you. Better stack up some neos. it has a great future
consider yourself lucky as that amount can currently get you very good coins. you can but 1ether,which i strongly recommend, or venture into other cheaper alts with good potential live NEO. you can also buy small units of BTC
i think safest is ETH , EOS , VEN ,Ncash , XVG ..... n more within the budget !!
with such a relatively small amount, even if top 10 coins were to double their market cap, you'd still just end up with $1000.

If you are newbie, better to invest and hold the stocks in the top 10 coins. But, if you are able to figure out the outcomes of the lower top, which can cause more profit, do this way.
I think that you have to invest a part of these 500 in Neonexchange because it still is under the radar and has many remarkable things. And it is very strongly underestimated, in my opinion, at the moment. And you receive a good piece because of its cheap price. EOS is also a good coin for investments.

You did not think to buy tokens of projects with a good rating and buy them at presale, wait for the ico and sell.
Focus to make research all coins in 20 top ranking Coinmarketcap, spend times to make analysis in fundamental one by one of each coins. But in my opinion all crypto is bubble so will be better to trade that your money, buy 2 or 3 different coins like NANO, ETH, NEO and hold it in a few month and then sell it, and buy back at lower price.
with money Tang you possess now, I will not suggest a lot of coins for purchase. only one coin entitled you buy the coin neo, coins it has the potential of the future and the price was quite low. you will get a coin more.
There's so many altcoins that have a great potential not only Neo, yes it have a potential but there's more than great like ethereum is the prettiest coin that will give you a huge profits.

You have a good plan. Investment is risky although it is risky it is also profitable. It is a matter of putting money in the right project that the security at the end is not losing but it will be gaining. Put your investment that the amount you've want to invest is you can handle. As a matter of fact you can invest your money on what altcoins that in top 100.
What's the best way to diversify starting with $500. I am overwhelmed right now with all the coins i am interested in. I'm just not sure if i should be only focused on the top 10 or can i pick xxx coin that's ranked between #40-#150. I can say i like about 15-20 coins/tokens i just feel that's way to many for $500. I would like to put half in blue chip coin and invest in some alts with the remaining half. I was thinking put $50 into 4 atls???

With that you should DYOR and trade carefully on assets having real value and being undervalued. I started with less, 100$ and I'm having around 20k$ now. Cryptos make massive gain, but there's also a price that comes with it.
500$ is not too small, just take that into account.
Personally I would take a look at WANchain now, they're having news on the 16th of April.
Altcoins may not survive this crisis. I think you should go to the top 10 coin.
