Cautionary Tale: I messed up. Big time. Please don’t pile on harder as I’m already sick to my stomach.

NEVER EXPOSE YOUR BTC KEYS/Seed to an forked wallet.

Two days ago, I attempted to split my BTC Diamond and BTC Private. I could not get it.

At some point, I exposed my Ledger Nano with my BTC on it, to each of their Electrum Wallets.

Last night, my wallet was emptied of ALL my BTC, 13+ coins.

Here is the transaction.

It appears that I have now lost my entire life savings. I’m not begging for a handout but rather attempting to warn anyone new to the space. I’m sick to my stomach with the loss and my only hope is to gain the attention of the culprit.

If you have any space in your heart, please return the BTC. I’d accept a fraction of what was stolen. Please don’t completely bankrupt me.
That was too sad that you've lost 13 BTC? wow!! That's a too big amount of yours and now you've just lost it.  Cry It's too hard to move on on that amount because that is a too huge amount for me. You can already make your own business in that amount but someone stole your own money with your own wallet. WOW! Maybe you have a friend that knows your private password or private keys and get all your BTC in your wallet.

That was really huge amount of bitcoin, I'm sorry for your lose.  From my view I think that it's impossible to get that bitcoin back. Next time be more careful and try to hold your bitcoin on Ledger wallet and don't share your btc seed.

If it makes you feel any better, I blew 20 BTC on a hand of Seals poker. Of course, that was years ago and the coins were worth $200 or so.  Smiley

I think that it's not the same to lose $4000 and $117 000.. btw. do you remember guy which pay 10,000 Bitcoins for pizza , how he feel now? Cheesy

Extremely sad to hear what happened with you. Angry

But can you or some one else please explain how exactly this happened??

So how exactly did this happen?

I believe the point of compromise happened at one of two places.

1. Using the Ledger to connect to the one of the two BTCP/BTCD Electrum Wallets. The BTCP has an app on the Ledger. The BTCD does not.

2. I don’t recall doing this for my BTC seeds but I might have input them in my hand into the BTCP/BTCD wallets.
That would mean a keylogger has compromised my setup. I’m not normally adventurous in downloading foreign software, generally, aside from rogue Bitcoin wallets (heh...).

So I’m not blaming the BTCP or BTCD Electrum wallets outright as it could have been me inputting my BTC seeds. I don’t recall doing that with my BTC seeds but Indo remember doing that with the old seeds that’s had the BTC already moved.

If anyone is familiar with the BTCP Electrum wallet off Github, that’s where I got it. I’ll have to confirm but I believe I also got the BTCD from there.  I’m sorry if this is unclear. My head is spinning and I’m not sure on where I was compromised.

It is a really devastating thread and I have read it with sinking heart. I too was extracting BCH and BTG from the BTC wallets and just thinking how easy it is to fall a victim if one is not very very cautious and thinking and rethinking what one does before actually doing it, well, it makes me sick.

Probably you will not retrieve those founds and they are lost for you, but I hope that story will be a cold shower for some fork enthusiasts and will save somebody from doing those mistakes again. Thanks for sharing.

is it true 13 BTC is really horrible to save assets in ledger better store it directly in blockchain.info because the wallet is proved to have very high security. it's better to avoid the risk than to lose that much asset.
What? are you sure with what you are suggesting and saying?

Coming from you that hardware wallets are more vulnerable than a web wallet? You're wrong in here and you misunderstood on what happened with OP's condition of doing the fork thing.

I don't understand, was your computer compromised, is that it?

Are any of those wallets you use compromised?

I am sad to see the calamity that befell you. I can feel the sadness you feel, you must be very sorry and disappointed with what you have done. on the other hand you should take this as a lesson so you are more careful in keeping your bitcoin dompen.
I hope someone who has earned bitcoin from your wallet, he is willing to return it back to you.

Compare rates on different exchanges & swap.
Sorry bro. If you can prove you own the coins and have lost control of them you can still ask for help or beg for donations. I bookmarked your profile just in case.

Do you still have your browser history, so you can check where exactly you've downloaded those possibly compromised wallets from?
I really hope you can find out what exactly caused this, I'd be interested in knowing if it was the BTCP wallet.

Maybe it would be a good idea to file a police report for this? I mean chances of getting your coins back are slim, but then your name as already 'tied' to those coins.
In case they eventually bust them, it's good to have everything on record.

I am completely sorry for your biggest loss. I hope you can get your 13 BTC as soon as possible.  But, you had a biggest mistake while keeping great amount of money in one wallet. This is the most risky behaviour in this bitcoin world.

First thing, why did you invest your whole life savings into something as risky and volatile as Bitcoin? No one should feel sorry for you as you made the mistake of doing the one thing that everyone asked you not to do and that is never invest more than you can afford to lose. i don't think there is any way for you get your bitcoins back now.

I think this can be lesson for everyone to be carefully, to keep safe your asset don't trust anyone or any institution when they ask about private key your wallet,or maybe for preventing do not install any suspected softrware on your computer, do not open any suspected link if you get on your email, install good anti virus to protect your computer and once again do not trust anyone if they ask your wallet private keys.
sorry about your loss, and keep your health buddy
