I am also feeling very sad after reading your thread. Earning Money is very hard work and time consumption.
I don't know why scammers don't understand someone's feelings. They are making quick money and making others life difficult.
Hope you will get your money soon at least some of that BTCs.

I am deeply saddened for your loss. I also had some coins and BTC stolen from me through various hack attempts and some phishing sites so it is always good to be extra vigilant and careful. Especially if you are working hard to accumulate some funds and then someone is watching to come and steal from you, that is a very sad event indeed. I hope we can get more and more security features in the future whereby we can secure our holdings, big or small for the future and for our safekeeping. I hope one day you can make that money back in the future but it is very hard.

Next time keep it safe your money and also bitcoin. That is not easy to recover or to take it back. You need to safe your money or bitcoin in a different wallets. Because like that, Once your key or password loss its all gone. don't make thing that you can all lost.

Last night, my wallet was emptied of ALL my BTC, 13+ coins.

This is a warning to everyone and is a terrible experience too. I would rather have it withdraw than put it on my wallet for a long time because there are genius hackers out there, trying to hacked your wallet and robbed all your BTC. I would be very sad if this thing will happen to me. But, those robbers will be punished terribly.

There are two things that you did wrong that's why you've lost your Bitcoins, first you didn't transfer those Bitcoins to a new address/wallet before attempting to sweep/import those private keys to claim that forked coins, it is always advisable to do that because we can't just trust any third party software or websites with our private keys that has Bitcoin on it, especially with big amount. And lastly you had stored a large amount of money in just one address, you should store it on different Bitcoin address for better security. And you said that you invested all of your life saving in Bitcoin, this is totally wrong. You should have hold those savings and only put the amount that you afford to lose on any investment that you want.

It is very sad and unfortunate to lose such a huge amount of bitcoin to hackers, I encouraged hodlers to learn a lesson how to secure our wallets by taking more precautionary actions towards protecting our btc again we should avoid tampering with technical issues in our wallets such as forking out coins from the existing btc this can expose and makes us vulnerable to hackers.

Sorry for your loss bro. It has been said times without number that before you attempt to claim any fork you should move your fund to a new wallet before proceeding with the claiming procedure.

Its unfortunate that  scammers still exist and they are always on the look and very alert to take advantage of the slightest mistake you make to steal your coins 13 BTC is quite a lot but the problem is even if the thief is reading your post now, he may never return your BTC,

It is hard to imagine hackers doing such bad things. In fact, I can not imagine and endorse any way or method. Unlike MEW, bitcoins are safer. Unfortunately. It's relatively high value right now.

? ? ?

Are you really comparing MEW(a wallet) to bitcoin(a cryptocurrency)?

I have not actively sought out who holds the BTC.
The BTC looks to have moved a couple times and has been still for a short bit.
It’s out of my hands completely as to whether it gets returned or not.
I truly hope they find it in their heart to return it and release me from this nightmare.
I’m very humbled by the experience and will be changing my OPSec going forward regardless.

It's really very unfortunate, I who know it alone feel very sad and shocked. It seems that it could happen because of our own mistakes or indeed there are who can hack all the wallet you have. It is true in need of more security if such cases are frequent.

I’m taking full responsibility for this security breech. It was my fault and I have to live with the consequences.

Bitcoin is the accumulation of all that is good and all that is bad within society. If self sovereign money is possible, it’s incumbent upon me to have secured my money better. I thought I was taking good precautions. I was wrong.

You made 2 big mistakes:
1. You kept too much money in one wallet.
2. You tried to get forked coins without moving out your real money away first.
~snip~
I think he fully understand keeping all Btc in 1 wallet because he want claim it as much as he can by counting it in block fork. Even many suggestion that shouldn't keep it into 1 place, but none can predict what happen with our fate.

And people, including me, were repeating it over and over. I think I even saw theymos write it.
It's not worth it to risk your BTC to get a couple dollars worth of a forked coin. Especially one of those new forks like diamond, god and so on.
You can quite safely get your BCH and BTG, but always think about it. Do you need another 100$ at the cost of 10k?
~snip~
This is good advice to be able to control our greed. Because i'm sure with that 13BTC Op can gain more profit by just holding it or doing trading.

I’m way more redpilled to realize I’d be a USD ‘millionaire’.
I’d have the same amount of BTC as I had before the hack.
1BTC=1BTC

1 Month ago, I was notified my position on our Program is ending next Spring 2019.
My Corp is retaining me until then. When I was told this, I actually felt a sense of freedom to explore the world.
My plan was to HODL until next year and reevaluate.
Maybe sell the house? Maybe pay off the house and find a new life path.
Starting a new career and use my BTC as the startup capital. Advance adoption through usage.
All that seems to have shattered...

Anyone support a hardfork to recover? Totally kidding. Immutable means immutable.  Cry

Damn... I can empathize with you very well. Few months ago I thought I lost my coins because of a stupid mistake too. Then I recovered them thanks to the forum people.

People usually don't understand how important it is to secure your private keys/seeds, wallet files or your PC in general till they actually become a victim.

Many old members warned MEW users to be careful yet many people still got hacked. They warned us to keep our keys offline and not to install shady software to your computer while you have important files in it, yet we still do. If you keep btc/keys in your hot (connected to internet) PC which is already risky, at least install these shady altcoin wallets on your Virtual Machine.

Btw I just learned this BitcoinDiamond has a closed source code only. It screams SCAM!

Man, I'm shock to this and though it's not mine I really feel sorry about your loss.
Now, you gonna have to work the rest of your life for nothing.
Motivate him instead of telling this, there's still enough time to ride before bitcoin gets on bull.
Personally, I’m an emotional wreck. Every time I think about this, i just start shaking. I’m NOT suicidal to be clear. It’s just really hard to think my financial freedom from this whole fucking rigged system is gone. The whole reason I entered this space was to have control over my destiny. I’m helpless to the cosmos. Maybe this is a lesson that I was helpless all along. Please, if you’re out there, spare me from my mistakes.
Mate just don't think of anything that's near to suicidal and it's good to hear from you that you aren't. It's normal to have that feeling of being emotional wreck and you shake. This isn't the end if you have a day job, you can still grow your money by re-investing again.
