As of this time, I would highly root for Ethereum as the best long-term altcoin to hold because of it’s London hard fork upgrade where it burns $8k every minute that would make the demand go higher in the long term. Although this is just my own prediction, I could say that ETH might reach a minimum of $5k to $6k before the end of the year, but $10,000 per ETH is still possible for me.
If you want to spend your money for long investment, i suggest you to invest in Top 10 coinmarketcap, or for this moment better you invest hype investment method like in Game using NFT as the base of the game, game like Axie, binemon or Lime Odissey. but I don't guarantee this is the best investment for the long term, I still recommend investing in Bitcoin, Etherium and BnB
for long term maybe we could involved in NFT gaming revolution , i see huge opportunity from this project developtment. I don’t consider NFT-games to be good long-term investments. I think that it is just a hype around them now, that is why people bring so much money there and as a result we see such a significant growth. Get some Kusama dots or ada if actually you plan to hold long term because those coins are still very early in the space and is likely that anything can happen with them if they really pick up..plus lots of ksm and dots will be lockup for parachains for years meaning there be token not been available in the market for really a long time

If you are looking for safe and long term investment, I recommend you stick on the well-established altcoins and has been around in the business for several years already. Very good examples are ETH, LTC, XRP, ADA - my portfolio is packed with these coins. I am also keeping a fair amount of Stakenet's XSN in my bag. I don't realize EOS is a safe investment. It has been sliding to no bottom since the beginning of 2018, a big crash for me. I agree ETH, ADA is very good. My suggestion is that the layer 2 options are trending to expand, stacking up for Dot, Polygon, adding Theta would be a nice stack.
for easiest decision pick bitcoin or ethereum that have strongest community , its good assets for long term purpose and even for 4 years cycle will give you more. holding major coins never make us disapponted as long as we didn't sell i when market crash, need our patience to see the maximum price to sell.
