And Miraz, Taskin and Shariful did not allow any of Afghanistan's middle order players to stay at the crease for long. Today I saw the performance of Bangladesh bowlers. Spinners got 7 wickets. But I will say that the pace bowling attack of Bangladesh has improved as much as it is commendable.

Bangladesh batted at a low target. Even then Bangladesh's two openers failed. Both the openers must bat responsibly. Otherwise Bangladesh will not be able to collect big against any big team.

South Africa scored a huge total of 428 runs, which was truly remarkable, and they collected enough runs to win today's match. Although Sri Lanka are trying hard to win the match, but I predict that it will never be possible as Sri Lanka are still many runs behind, so they will lose the match. Moreover, Sri Lanka does not have good batting at the moment, they have lost 7 wickets, they are batting under a lot of pressure at this time. Still, Sri Lanka need to score 156 runs off 74 balls to meet the target, which is not easy, and we can definitely predict that South Africa will win the match by a huge margin. How far do you think Sri Lanka's innings can go against South Africa? South Africa are the first opponents to score 428 runs against Sri Lanka. No team has scored so many runs against Sri Lanka in any tournament before. I think it is impossible to chase 428 runs to win, 428 runs in the first innings but 429 runs in the second innings is impossible.
No batsman can succeed in a long 50-over target of 429 runs because they have to score almost nine runs in each over, if for some reason they fail to score 9 runs then they have to score 10 runs in the next over.

At 103 runs for 2 wickets in the first 11 overs, it's a good start for Sri Lanka but I'd say Sri Lanka's innings won't go far. If any one of the two who are batting is out, the run rate will decrease a lot. No matter how well Sri Lanka do, at the end of the day, the result of the match will go in Africa's favour.

R.ven der Dussen made brilliant century and scored 108 runs in 113 balls and hitted thirteen 4s and two 6s then out and other batter A.Markhum also made outstanding century for theri team. Now their batting time finished and they successfully gave really a big target to Sri Lanka team and I don't think that Sri Lanka will chase down this big target.

Bangladesh vs Afghanistan
Afghanistan batted very well at the start, but could not handle the pressure as the wickets fell, eventually Afghanistan were bowled out for 156 runs. Bangladesh won by a big margin of 6 wickets. The pair of Najmul Hossain Shanto and Mehidy Hasan Miraz helped the team win. Najmul Hossain Shanto batted very well today with 59 not out, Mehidy Hasan Miraz was out for 57 runs. The highest number of runs scored by a team in an ODI World Cup was 417 by Australia in 2015. I am expecting South Africa to either break that record today or level it. As of now, they are only short of 27 runs and they still have 12 balls to face. It is an achievable task considering the number of batters who are yet to bat. If that happens then Srilanka would have another bad cricket record on their name going into the history book. Outstanding batting by the South African batters, their form shows how much they can be a pain for teams like India, New Zealand, England, and Australia.

People are losing interest in the 50 overs formats, especially in a country like India, where everyone is crazy for T20. Another reason is the games are starting in the Afternoon when the temperature is high. By evening the stadium looks better than afternoon when crowds do come in to watch the matches.

The match between South Africa and Sri Lanka is going to be another waste of time. The way Srilankans are bowling South Africa might score more than 400 runs. Afghanistan team did well early but saw their batsmen try to play long short that is the main reason for losing early some wickets. Two batsmen lost wickets due to inside edges but most of the players returned with catches. Bangladeshi bowlers have enough praise in world cricket. Shakib Al Hasan, Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Taskin Ahmed all bowled well and they were successful. I believed from the start that if Bangladesh could pick up a couple of wickets then Bangladesh would come back in this match and ultimately it happened in the end. Bangladesh took a good win against Afghanistan.

It's the openers who failed to score runs today for Bangladesh but there number 3rd and 4th batsmen scored fifties today. Its good overall performance from Bangladesh today. Afghanistan is a strong cricketing side and you can expect them to bowl out so cheaply. Mehidy Hasan Miraz had game of his life, first he picked 3 wickets and then a half century.

I have no expectations from Bangladesh's openers. I can't remember the last time I saw this team's opening pair play well. The opening pair of Bangladesh team rarely plays well. The entire performance of this team depends on the performance of their middle order and bowlers. There are several experienced batsmen in the middle order. And the performance of Bangladesh's bowlers is decent. Bangladeshi spin bowlers as well as pace bowlers have done well in today's match. Bangladesh got more advantage as the pitch was spin friendly. Batting against Shakib and Miraz on a spin friendly pitch is not easy at all. Also we saw good bowling from Shorigul, Mustafiz and Taskin in this match.

With too much T20 cricket going on there is little interest in ODI. It took almost a day to watch an ODI and there are not much people who have that much time. If in India people are not coming to watch ODI world cup match then situation will be much worse in rest of the world. Apart from India games there won't be much attendance in group stages game.

It was a surprise that fans did not turn up but i am expecting things to change once the tournaments gets going and once the match is between competitive teams, things will change.

If they are unable to retain the fans then eventually ODI will struggle to attract fans like the Test matches, few ODI are played in the past several years as the focus shifted to T20.

Really? Because I think a lot more could have been done, and its just flat out false to say that nothing could have been done.

Sure the format is on the decline recently, but BCCI and ICC have only exacerbated the solution. This was their chance to get a lot more fans, but they squandered it. Here are some things I can think of top of my head that could have helped:

1- Tickets should have been cheaper and better managed, BCCI entirely failed in this.
2- The marketing could have been way better.
3- Visas to traveling fans could have been issued much quicker.

The list is huge, but these are just a few things that would have surely helped the situation a lot.
