Today is a double header in the world cup, Bangladesh is up against Afghanistan and Sri Lanka will play South Africa. Both seems to be exciting contests.
I guess Netherlands is a team should not be taken too light because they did some amazing job as a bowling team with one of the top team today and to be honest at one point Netherlands were at the peak after taking 4 early wickets but the lack of experience from lower order team took advantage by the PAK batting and stitch decent partnership in the middle overs and put decent total.
I am impressed with the captaincy skill of Scott edwards and who knows they can upset one or two team and really bring the table upside down.

Saud Shakeel, Haris Rauf, Vikramjit Singh and Bas de Leede were the leading players in this match specially Bas de Leede done impressive job with bat and bowl and have fifty runs and 4 wickets which create problems for the Pakistani team in this first game of the World Cup.
Bas de Leede was the real hero of today's game who picked 4 wickets first (including important wickets of Rizwan and Iftikhar) and then scored 67 runs with the bat. Pakistan wins the 2nd match of the World Cup against Netherlands. Pakistan bowl out the Neds with 9 overs to spare and wins the contest by 81 runs. I don't understand the scheduling. First of all, I would have expected the hosts (India) to play against the defending champions (England) in the opening match. And secondly, the opening match should ideally be scheduled on weekend. None of this was followed and in the end we got such a sparse crowd. I have posted this a few times. I think that the BCCI is not that serious about hosting the world cup. Even the schedule was released a few days before the opening match and some of the teams are not happy with the fact that they need to move from one end of the country to the other every week.
There might be some truth to it because of IPL but hosting an ICC event is also a lucrative business so I am not completely sure. Having said that if I look at the big picture then I believe the Big guys (Broadcasters) are not into ODI as a format anymore, there are already enough murmurs about broadcasters pulling out the plug from this. Let's see what happens in the next media rights cycle.
India is a very big country and I've said this a couple of times, we have "no fixed venue systems" for matches due to State boards. BCCI opted for 10 states and UT for this edition and Punjab Cricket Association along with others already made some accusations because they were left out so it's not straightforward (lots of state politics because every political party in India directly or indirectly is in charge of State Board Cricket) and BCCI has to cover all of India, no matter what.

Pakistan started very poorly, they had lost 3 wickets in the first ten overs. Then a good partnership between Rizwan and Shakeel helped them to get good runs onboard. As for now they have lost 8 wickets and have scored 252 runs. They do have 8 overs left but the last pair is on the pitch. I expected them to give a target of 280 or more runs to Netherlands. If the bowlers do their job properly today they would be able to defend a total of less than 280 runs. 
When I last time saw the scorecard, Pakistan had recovered very well after losing three early wickets. Rizwan and Saud Shakeel were playing very well and I thought they were going to score a massive score. They needed to score more than three hundred runs on this pitch. It was a typical Pakistani performance. They are unpredictable as hell. Nobody knows if they will win or not.

Pakistan 286 all out but what a strong comeback by Pakistan from 38/3 to 286/10. After early collapse, a good partnership and contributions from the lower order well played Rizwan, Saud Shakeel, Shadab and Nawaz but the Netherlands bowlers have restricted Pakistan to a score of 286. Good recovery from Pakistan. Good fight from the Dutch as well with the ball. They were in a difficult situation but the tail-enders batter sensibly and were able to cross the projected score of 280. Considering the bowling attack that Pakistan has it won't be easy for Netherlands batters to chase the target. I would say it is an excellent comeback by the Pakistani team in this match. I never hoped that they would struggle so much initially against the Netherlands bowlers. I have no doubt that today's Netherlands was a different team in the first 10 overs of the match. They lost their momentum when Rizwan and Shakeel came to bat together. The ball in now in the hands of the Pakistani bowlers and I am sure they would be able to win the match.
