I prefer to choose altcoin investment like ETH and LTC because sometimes we don't know what happen in an ICO if they will succeed or not so we have to be careful before we invest.
Yes I agree to some posts here that ICO's are really risky. If you will be in for a scam, it would be the worst day of your life. But if you have chosen successfully you might end up in a very good returns of investments. This really needs a lot of research. Altcoins investment as well may also be at risks. Volatility and FUD is a common problem but it is a bit safer than losing everything in a scam or Failing ICO. Its up for you to choose.

Both of them are good to me, it all depends on the ICO and the famous coin, some famous coin may not get 2x for one year, like wise some ICOs may not get 2x of their price for one year. But before you invest in any ICO, do your research thoroughly.

If altcoin went deep to ICO price or even below, it is better to buy altcoin. But the project should be good, shitcoins.
Otherwise it is better to invest good ICO. According to analysis tokens of exchanges give good gains. For example there is lccx.io - looks like promising exchange based in London. Well developed white paper, experienced team, located in politically stable jurisdiction.
Both actually have advantages and disadvantages but be sure to not buying or funding shitcoin, only choose the good one.

But the main problem lies with analyzing the ICO. With lots of scams and shit ICO, finding the best is a tough task. Whereas in altcoin trading, have a mixture of large, small and medium cap coins for diversifying the risk and making an average profit margin. Try to understand the market scenarios and read the price action.
yes, and I think it is better to do altcoin investment if we want to hold for a long time and although ico investment can give huge profits, I think it depends on the dev, the team and the project itself. there are a lot of ICO around us and it is only few ICO that could survive in this situations and besides that, we need to choose what ICO that could survive for a long time. and in altcoin investment, as long as we can choose from top 30 lists of coinmarketcap for the investment, I think it is enough for us to choose for 5 altcoins for our investment.
I think ICO investment will be good judgment for this year. Moreover, there are many good ICOs over there. As for me. I think it's better to invest our money in a famous coin instead of ico's project.
It is most likely to come from pre-ICO or altcoins. It is more stable to invest in alts as the product is essentially finished and you do not risk anything.
better you invest in a cryptocurrency that already listed on major exchange,
because as i know a major exchange didn't listed any shitcoin in their market
and have a lot of excess and potential to grow in the future, such as waves, NEO, IOTA and manymore

I prefer to invest in ICO because with investing in ICO I can get more profit and can get experience about ICO and project developed while altcoin seems to me not very suitable for my investment because altcoin is already in market and there are already buy in cheap prices while ICO is like having a new coin made and can be like bitcoin which initially only cost $ 1 now can be tens of thousands of dollars.
First decide if you love the money you already have. If you don't then invest in ICOs otherwise altcoins. Cause the ICOs are going to give you far better returns but the potential of losing your investment is far more. But by investing in altcoins with strong fundamentals you will get low returns but your investment will be safe.
ICO investment is not good for now because of market down trend. Alt coin investments are better now. Under the normal condition, ICO investments are risky than alts. Finding a good ICO is very difficult. It should select very carefully. But it will give you better return.
Nowadays the condition of market too bad, due to this many ICO's are not able to collected the funds as they required to run their project, So in my opinion investment in established altcoins is much better in present scenario.
Usually investing in the good ICO projects is more profitable than investing in altcoins. There are few number of good altcoins which have some potential, while the promising ICO projects are several, and also you can earn by participating in their bounty campaigns without investing your money, so you are only risking the time and the effort.

Personally I will choose both. I want some of my investment in well known Altcoin while others is in ICO which I believe will have a great value to the community. But if I where to choose one, then I'll choose ICO.
