If Satoshi came out with Bitcoin2.0 would you use it over Bitcoin current client, if he advised you to and let you exchange your current btc into it?

Why not if i can have believe and confidence in using bitcoin from Satoshi and i got lots of trust in his delivery capacity that if he can be successful in the launch of the first decentralized digital currency bitcoin as the number one cryptocurrency and it's working and going as expected then giving a try on bitcoin 2.0 if launched shouldn't be a thing of doubt by all means, write now i confidently use bitcoin in making transactions and not only that, but its also a world wide recognized digital currency, and I don't expect you as well to have doubt on what can comes out from the him because it will always be an improvement over the existing one just as bitcoin comes to solve the challenges in dealing with Fiat currency.

Once a man, twice a child!
I would use it, if he (or any other person/group) came up with another revolutionary idea, which would make Bitcoin obsolete. It wouldn´t matter to me, if he signed with his pgp key or early private keys or not. It´s the code that counts.
This OP was made three years ago, precisely in April 2019, and since then no one has come forth as Satoshi till date. I think the whole Satoshi identity thing isn't going to be resolved. It's buried in the sand now. BTW, there's a crypto called BTC2; as in Bitcoin2, but I don't know if it's trading now. When it debuted a few years ago, I thought it would've the same potential as Bitcoin. How wrong I was, looking back now.

Well, this is a very difficult question to answer. But do you really think that he'll do that? Why can't he just fork the already existing coin to include his new ideas? Anyway, let's talk about this unlikely scenario. In case that happens, then obviously I will be tempted to invest in the new currency. But right now it is difficult to say how much of my BTC I will be willing to sell at that point.

The question by the OP is not realistic and it is just an imaginary thing to happen. We all know that satoshi identity is unknown so there is no point in thinking that he may develop a new chain. I am not in favour of bitcoin 2.0 or anything like that.

It is not a difficult question to answer, Satoshi Nakamoto is anonymous and we should not expect anything like that as he did not even plan to make bitcoin to have 2.0 because it was not on the bitcoin white paper.

Another thing about this, bitcoin 2.0 proposal will only lead to a fork which will bring about another altcoins.

Let us assume there is a launch of bitcoin 2.0 by a random person. Does that mean it is Satoshi?
He used his keys, and for that we can't believe one to be Satoshi.

He won't have such plans and in that case already we've got more number of Satoshi in the cryptospace. If you go through the coinmarketcap and search bitcoin we'll get to see a big list apart from the real bitcoin. Satoshi have innovated the technology and beyond this there is very minimal chance to think of 2.0, because when there is no limit automatically the system gets into destruction same as printing money.

Initially I believe that Satoshi will not make a move for it but let's just assume he does, I will definitely use it because bitcoin 2.0 will definitely be an upgraded version of the initial bitcoin, there will be an improvement and lots of other things in it, just like the way lots of people are keen and waiting for ethereum 2.0

Sorry for the necro-bump but I saw this post and thought it was interesting.  Personally, I wouldn't follow satoshi into Bitcoin 2.0 at this point based on the fact that the creator of Bitcoin was releasing a new coin.  I would have to see the code and learn what improvements were made, then evaluate if I felt it was better or worse than my current investments.  I didn't buy Bitcoin because of satoshi, and I wouldn't buy Bitcoin 2.0 because of satoshi either.  If it was a great idea though and I felt it had a future, I would definitely invest based on the merit of the idea.

This is a great quote...
“Small minds discuss people. Average minds discuss events. Great minds discuss ideas.”

PS - I once used this quote when debating politics with a liberal.  They said, even your quote was made by a liberal, Eleanor Roosevelt.  I responded that I didn't care who said it, I cared about the idea behind it.

^ My thoughts are the same with Bitcoin, Bitcoin 2.0, or Bitcoin (insert latest gimmick here).  I don't care who created it.  I care about the idea behind it.

I don't really understand why do we need another btc when this one is ok. Anyways, let's see.

Can you image how much having bitcoin 2.0 is going to confuse people. I can just see millions of $$ being lost from doing swaps from silly people who don't use proper security or who send everything in one transactions. I don't even get fork coins because I don't want to ever have any problem where I sent my coins to the wrong address or I lose access to them somehow. I very much dislike the idea of moving an entire wallet and every single bitcoin you own for fork.

If btc was to fork I would probably do the swap.

I want to use a metaphor for this because I don`t think 2 people understood in the polls.
Keep in mind Bitcoin 2.0 is not Bitcoin2 I have no clue what that is

Bitcoin = Playstation 1
Bitcoin 2.0 = Playstation 2

Bitcoins = the games

You can use ps1 games in a ps2. Why would you not accept a ps2 for free? LOL

You can't compare like that. Some "updates" are more like downgrades. Not all "upgrades" are an improvement.

I'd be happy to accept PS2 games for free, but like other Bitcoin spinoff coins, I would probably just sell them.

What would make it "2.0?" Just the fact that Satoshi came back and said so? Or because on its face, it's a truly superior technology?

I'm pretty uncomfortable with this sort of appeal to authority. Satoshi released Bitcoin obscurely and anonymously and disappeared the same way. He let the market decide. I don't think he's interested in using his authority now to push an alternative technology. If he wanted to release "Bitcoin 2.0" then I think he do it anonymously and let the market decide again.

If he would really make one, why not give it a try?? And if Satoshi would make version 2.0, it means that it's more developed than the first one since it's "Bitcoin2.0". That would make sense right? He wouldn't make one if it ain't a better version.

But I highly doubt he'll make one.

Of course, as we know bitcoin does lack of many features and it has a lot of problems which are seen after Satoshi left us like it takes time for the transaction confirmation and it needs higher txd fees. if Satoshi makes a bitcoin 2.0 then, of course, he is going to cover all those issues and what if he can add even more benefits to the coin. that would be life changing but that's not gonna happen.

If satoshi comes with bitcoin 2.0 that means bitcoin 1.0 fail. And that's enough reason to move to the new version. The problem here is when someone says he is satoshi and launch his version without prove he is satoshi, just like CW did it. That way i just will ignore that version and stay with the old one.

the poll is closed for some reason

The poll timer has ended. The people have spoken, they were all given a equal amount of time to react if they wanted to, just like how it would work in decentralized voting.
The verdict is two people miss clicked out of 20. (feel free to repeal and open a counter poll)

90% of people said YES
10% of people said No

What about a offspring chain? like after you have two kids (so we can keep our populations in order) you have to give up 1/2 your UBI to your kids chain and so does the mother, and you have 4 kids, you both lose your BIP.
If 2 people do not have more than 2 kids, population is maintained.

Instead of killing them if they have more than 1 and it is not a boy.  Roll Eyes

At the end of it, if people are doing fractional reserve banking they will end up with no nuts to reproduce or if they were giving out monopoly money in trade for real goods and services.

the poll is closed for some reason , but I will reply here:
I will not use Bitcoin 2.0 in any shape or form
there is only one bitcoin and whatever is created won't be bitcoin buy something else whatever you call it
as for Satoshi's vision , isn't Bitcoin SV standing for Satoshi's Vision?  Cheesy so you can tell that sometimes even the greatest of visions are crappy Grin

You trade your current bitcoin into it, let`s say you have 1 bitcoin and you send it to bitcoin2.0 (which is still bitcoin), it still has the same value as a 1 bitcoin which is 1 bitcoin,  you are not buying anything.

Bitcoin SV is not being done by satoshi, just because it is called that, just like how the bank of america is not owned by all the american people.
They used a quote from him, It is not him quoting bitcoin satoshi`s vision in the current, if that makes sense to you. https://bitcoinsv.io/

This is not Bitcoin 2.0

This is just a fork, just like

    Bitcoin Cash (BCH)
    Bitcoin Gold (BTG)
    Bitcoin Diamond (BCD)
    Super Bitcoin (SBTC)
    Bitcoin Atom (BCA)
    Bitcoin Core (BTX)
    Bitcoin God (GOD)
    Bitcoin Private (BTCP or ZCL)

ETC ETC

and you guys want to talk about volatility, stop trading your bitcoin into fiat, stop trading your bitcoins into alt coins. You know what makes volatility USING DIFFERENT MONEY SUPPLYS, for the most part, read the sentence on the original white paper. Like if we are going to use a money supply, we need to use one, like where is the Universal coin at. We are the dumbest traders in history. I think all animals are smarter because not a single other species even uses currency, probably for a reason, But if, we are going to use one, lets all use the same one, so it is not so stupid when it comes to trading.
