It would likely depend as to who  he is and if he has previous records in the government if any wrong doing or what not. I am sure many will try to get hold of him as he is someone who created  an innovative technology that affects the flow of money in the country. If things happen, well it is pretty amazing lols even more interesting  Grin

I personally don't feel that Satoshi is a single person .. ; Might be a team of genius Smiley

I also thought that Nakamoto is a group or a company. But even if they reveal themselves or himself what will be the basis or how can he prove that he is nakamoto. With so many developers copying bitcoin there are many people who can claim that they are nakamoto. But even though nakamoto reveal himself bitcoin will still bitcoin, nakamoto doesnt need to reveal himself his contributions by making bitcoin is enough.

I believe it will cause some volatility in short-term but will not influence bitcoin in general.

The main idea is that concept is living without its creator..

We never know about satoshis mystery. We don't happen the satoshis reveal because  Bitcoin is familiar of us and because of that bitcoin also use by online job because of its famousity.
Hail mother Mary what in the heavens is this  Grin The man behind the name Satoshi already appeared once in the name of Craig but no one was willing to accept the fact that he is truly the one who invented the bitcoin. Now he doesn't care to reveal the rest of the facts because everyone wanted to humiliate his character ,bunch of noobs, and it is a fact that no one will accept even if anyone is going to provide any proof unless and until the first mined coins are moved  Cheesy

I think that the presence of satoshi that is needed to sustain the bitcoin ecosystem has always been overrated - in fact satoshi is not here anymore to support us, and still bitcoin is working fine, except for a few debates here and there.

But if he was to reveal himself, it is likely that he will be prosecuted by the government, but bitcoin prices would still probably rise since there will be a hype around it.

That remains to be seen (as to the effect of these "few debates here and there")

We see that the Bitcoin developers are heavily intriguing against each other, very much like what happens in real life when employees are on a loose leash. If I remember correctly,  something like that was going to happen a few years (or maybe over a decade) ago among the Linux kernel developers, but it didn't get any progress altogether since Linus made it pretty clear that he won't tolerate developers fighting with each other. That's was Bitcoin lacks, namely, a proper management of the core developers and their activities

Well, if satoshi introduced himself, may balance has been maintained during this time will collapse, and will make the development of bitcoin's value has increased. the government will not stand by to see that happen, satoshi might be working for the government if he introduces himself
Why bitcoin will collapse is Satoshi reveals himself ? Do you think he will start selling his hoarding ? I could not find the any solid reason for this.

But I am too sure, if Satoshi reveals himself, governments will prefer to work with him for a better payment system for their country. But why not they start thinking about adopting bitcoin payment system now itself?

satoshi is one of those identities that we may never know who he/she or they really was/were and i think that makes it even more interesting.

but if the identity is revealed i think that day would be the hottest day for bitcoin and there is a possibility for a price drop because of panic.

Why would there be a price drop? Bitcoin can go on with or without him because the miners and holders are the one who runs it now..

But it will be a big help to the community especially in this forum because he can now answer some pressing question that the bitcoin community are looking for an answers.

Nobody would ever believe he is the real Satoshi Nakamoto.  If he hasn't come forward now. he is not going to.
The real satoshi could easily prove he's the one. He could for instance log into his forum profile (https://bitcointalksearch.org/user/satoshi-3), but I think you're right, he's not going to reveal himself. Maybe 50 years from now, someone buys a house and finds a drive with Satoshi's original walled stored in the wall and we'll find out who he was and where he lived.

60% of all bitcoins mined have never moved. If they belong to Satoshi Nakamoto he wont surface.  He is too rich and doesnt want to become a target. At least if it was me, thats how I would feel.
Not true at all. It is old misconception about bitcoin. A total misunderstanding of how Bitcoin works that you can find it even in bitcoin research papers!

In fact: "researchers found that 64% of all bitcoins are stored in non-reused addresses and interpreted this as 64% of coins have never moved."

So, what that's saying essentially is that there is a high likelihood something like 64% of Bitcoin passes through online wallets or exchanges?

Something like that would make sense, since most of the time addresses aren't re-used for those sites for outgoing transactions as they are for incoming ones.

Sounds like a somewhat shody investigation job, however that's a good article you posted.

I wish that he remain anonymous. If he reveals his identity, then he is likely to face all sort of legal issues, including charges that he is aiding drug smuggling and arms trafficking. What happened to Ross Ulbricht can happen to him as well. He will be jailed for the rest of his life, and all of his coins will be seized and auctioned by the FBI.

What do you think that will happen once the real Satoshi reveals himself (and proves that he created Bitcoin)? Will Bitcoin ever be the same? Will governments try to pursue Satoshi and put him in jail?

This will be something interesting to know, once it happens (if it ever does) sometime in the future. Please feel free to share your thoughts here.  Smiley

and will you believe that he is the real satoshi nakamoto? i think you've forgotten to include this question by the way I don't think that there will be an effect on bitcoin if ever he showed up to the public so of course bitcoin will still be the same and also why do the governments have to put him in jail i don't see any thing wrong with his creation he never bombed a country with bitcoin Grin he just wanted people to escape the traditional bank system and as well as the taxes Grin

.... governments are getting interested, banks are adopting the technology, discussions are going on and many more developments...

And people are watching with monkeys listening

Bitcoin price fall : For the same reason than the above reflexion, seeing that Satoshi has moved its bitcoins will create a panic as never seen. Imagine what could be said. People could say that Satoshi is back, but his bitcoins too. Those bitcoins that were never put on the market could from a second to another being put to sell on an exchange, and considering how big his stack is, the fall will be hard

The price fall is not a given

Unless he actually starts wildly selling his bitcoins (and he has somewhere around 980,000 of them, just in case), the effect might be quite opposite, i.e. price might actually surge on the euphoria that peeps might feel when they find out that he is still alive and kicking. Or it may rise when he decides that he is going to become a benevolent dictator (like Linus Torvalds of Linux fame) and direct the development of Bitcoin from now on

I agree with you, but we're not in the same case, so here comes the difference in our visions. I had the contradictory vision that in that argument he would simply move its bitcoins without revealing himself on TV shows and in the case of veneration he would have. You're taking the option that he would

I thought about that and came to a conclusion that moving his bitcoins without revealing himself is impossible unless he moves them between his own wallets. Say, he wanted to sell some part of his bitcoins. But how could he do that without revealing himself? He would necessarily have to reveal a lot of personal info about himself which would basically mean him revealing himself. He might register with some exchange through a Tor browser, sell a few bitcoins, and what's next? He would have to withdraw fiat, but that would be impossible without a bank account or a plastic card...

And after that his identity can be firmly established by the trace of the money

With all his wealth, he could just hire a couple of gorilla-sized bodyguards, and that would solve most of possible problems

Yes he might, and that would probably solve any kind of kidnapping, but that doesn't exclude the possibility to be killed a la Kennedy

Without grasping his bitcoins first, shooting him makes no sense since he is not a politician. But after grasping his coins, shooting him makes even less sense
