You lead and I'll watch you walk away.
You'll see Satoshi reveal himself when he starts to sell his massive million coin premine.

perhaps, if satoshi introduced himself, bitcoin is still the same as this. however, it will make satoshi become more famous, and probably will be the target of several organizations. Well, maybe he could add to the number of bitcoin easily, and most likely, his life may be very inconvenient because it will be a lot of fans of bitcoin will look for it.

p.s. in the end bitcoin is still bitcoin

And Bitcoin still can't scale or innovate (i.e. Segwit).

But I'm sure Satoshi don't mind.

first of all the 1 million is a complete estimate and it may actually be a lot less than that.

though there's ever more early miners coming out of the woodwork it was effectively only him for quite a long time. if you were the only miner back then you'd be getting 7200 coins a day. that's one million coins in only 138 days and he certainly carried on for longer than that. i wonder how many people came on board in the early months of 2009. not very many.

this is a discussion that has been going on ever since price started to go to ~$20 and has been going on for years, and no matter how much you argue, there is no conclusion to it because bitcoin has a certain level of anonymity and we don't know how many were mining bitcoin from the start (for example Hal Finney was one of them)

Realistically do you think Satoshi is that much of an idiot that he'd just dump his coins? I'd think the founder of bitcoin had a brain to not crash the market but I guess you think otherwise.

What if he hates what's happening with Bitcoin and wants out to start or join an alt-coin?

Again, that's fine and dandy but I can't see someone throwing away financial interest for something as petty as that. Satoshi has enough influence that simply stating his opinion on the matter would impact the future of Bitcoin greatly.

I do indeed. Satoshi posts in the yobit trollbox. He said there he's waiting for the right moment. All 1 million are in his yobit account and they're all going on sale at once '4 da fekkin' lulz' to quote him directly.

In fact it's more than 1 million now because he did the Gox hack and runs all the piece of shit ICOs on here too. He trolled the planet.

I think If Satoshi reveals himself, their will be no changes to bitcoin, except he start selling his Bitcoins (1 Million bitcoins) that will just
make bitcoin have no value, it will shut from current price 900$ to .9$ so I think its a good point for Bitcoin that Satoshi is now hidden in some where  Grin

That's correct. so He will never reveal himself if he is living in this digital world because with this price and the bitcoin amount he has got. Yes, Bitcoin will return back 10$ or 50$ and maybe bitcoin will become unvaluable.

If satoshi reveals himself, he might face huge problems. Some countries would even file complaint against him for creating bitcoin and challenging their fiat currencies. That is why he hide himself.

first of all the 1 million is a complete estimate and it may actually be a lot less than that. also you do realize that since 2008 there have been 15.01 million more bitcoins mined making it a total of 16.01 million. in other words even 1 million BTC is 1/16th of the total number of coins currently available.

i am not denying the effect that a possible movement of those coins may have but it certainly wound't kill bitcoin by making its price drop 99.9% (based on prices you said)

I think the price would see a change if satoshi revealed itself... it's a big psychological factor. It may not mean anything by itself, but it opens the possibility of him selling. Right now everyone has assumed that he is just dead, but if he proved he is alive, the doubt of his coins being locked forever would end, and the possibility of a selloff could happen.
This could really happen since satoshi have only the way on how to retrieve those lost coins on entire bitcoin blockchain network.Yes,it really give big psychological factor to public and these would surely lead in two possible scenarios on which people would not too much react on it or they would change their mind if satoshi will come out and reveal himself but i think this thing wouldnt really happen.

HODLing is an art, not just a word...
Dr. Wright is still the best fit so far.

haha

at the time i had my suspicions  about him actually being Satoshi but by passing of time and the things that i saw from him i became sure there is no way he is Satoshi or even had any kind of affiliation with bitcoin apart from investing in it.
- incapable of presenting a valid signature
- presenting a fake signature as proof of identity.
- his debt and shady history
- the fact that he claimed he will move some coins to prove identity, he never did and there was no need for moving anything when bitcoin has a sign message feature!

If he moved Satoshi's 1 million Bitcoins would that make you happy?  Smiley

good thing, real life is not based on ifs and buts and empty promises Cheesy

He would definitely be jumping up and down after Satoshi's coins have been moved, claiming that he moved them.
He has a claim to fame - he might not have invented Bitcoin, but he definitely managed to fool some journalists of BBC and the Economist.

satoshi aka nash is already passed... will never reveal himself. Who else would have known about secp256r1 vs secpk256k1 in hindsight? noone but him.

Horseshit!

I also don't believe John Nash was satoshi. I mean sure, guy was really bright, but he was too old to code, I think he wasn't that good with computers, so how would he code the entire thing by himself? It's ridiculous.

I still think satoshi is someone that is currenctly working within the core dev, probably adam back, or even gmaxwell (which may have delayed his official appearance in the community to make it seem like a different person). We will never know I guess.
You know nash had been working on the problem for decades? Also you know satoshi wasnt the coder most likely but the designer? 2 very different things. The design very much aligns with the work of nash.

I always suspected that though he never moved his early coins he did keep mining off that pattern and now lives a decent life.

If he were to come back I suspect not a huge amount of change,

(1) coding decisions would have a strong central voice, even if he disavowed the role.
(2) we'd find out more about how far bitcoin has diverged from his vision.
(3) the market would be odd, with the price either going up as the creator comes home or fear due to his coins being sold driving it down.
