That’s why they have value, you’re literally an owner of the profits the company produces. Crypto is just driven by a bunch of people who are speculating that the price of crypto will go up. There’s no real reason in goes up other than mass agreement, and because that’s arbitrary there’s also no reason it can’t go down for the same reason. Expecting to make profit trading crypto in pumps is nothing more than buying a lottery ticket, and that’s the opposite of investing.
While it is tough to refute your argument logically, I would say buying Bitcoin is like buying a lottery ticket goes several steps too far. Once Bitcoin progresses technologically, the network gets monetized inherently through the frictions it solves that alternative systems inevitably bring about. Facebook is monetized through it advertisement, but when Facebook started out it didn't earn any money yet I wouldn't deem an investment a lottery ticket. There was quality talent and a vision involved, but sure the monetization mechanism is more obvious. Bitcoin internalizes externalities that, for example banks impose upon us. Does that make sense? I agree with you. The volatility with cryptocurrencies is not what is attainable in Stock and most of the stock investors are more long term investors who have understand the company in which they are investing in and not like in crypto where people will be talking about 5 years investment, stocks are more 10 to 20 years investments and crypto is not there yet. Maybe because crypto is still as volatile as it was back then and I don't think that a lot of people is going to be able to handle those graphs that goes erratic most of the time. And I think that FUD also plays a big role as to why people aren't going in crypto, they are too scared to try.
I agree with you. Because crypto and stocks are different and there are some benefits in each one of them for people depending on yourself you can choose the market. For example, if you don't want to take too much risk in order to gain high amount of profits you can choose stocks market because this market is much more safe comparing to crypto and there will not be much sharp price movements. However, there will be much less reward and your investment can be controlled by the government. In the other hand, crypto market is much more risky and will give you more profits. Generally, people can choose the market depending on themselves.

Consider stocks like Apple or Tesla or Amazon, if you bought any of those early you did quite well until now. You also own a piece of a company that may pay dividends frequently and at some point of the company's life cycle it is less speculative and more of a safe investment compared to cryptocurrencies.

Well, crypto trading has more profit than stocks I agree, but the risks of trading crypto vs trading stocks is really very high, and stocks (of good and established companies) are generally considered as safe investments, even through the eyes of government and regulations. Plus, it doesn't harm really to have some stocks in portfolios! Purchasing stocks of good companies is being a part of it and contributing to its growth making a good work for the society!
