Standing on your own decision as a gambler can be that easy to do when you're what I would describe as a one man squad gambler. A kind of gambler that doesn't have some group of fellow gambling friends but does his thing alone.
But it would be difficult to have your decision untouched when you are that type of gambler that has an exclusive clique of gamblers and this clique can influence your decision. You may try to hold on but there's a 50/50 chance of you or any gambler that finds himself with cliques to bow to pressure at some point. It is like a peer group influence.
It will come back to each person because our decisions should not be influenced by what others say or suggest. We must have a strong stance to not follow what other people say. But the reality is that often our decisions are based on what other people say and we immediately take their advice without thinking about how it will affect us or what we should do with the results we will get. And we often come back to them for advice on solving the problem because we tend not to think about solving it and instead expect advice from others.

Now let's take this to a discuss; how correct is this statement? And is there any similar statement like that in your home-country that's popularly used among gamblers to encourage themselves from quiting gambling because they're losing?
I don't agree with the statement "if you quit, that's when you lose". Because if you did not, is there an assurance you'll get back what you lost or be a gainer? No right. Thus, if you know the risk of gambling you'll not get easily influence by this saying.

Or would you allow your decision to quit gambling to be affected by any popular statement among your fellow gamblers or it's a no no thing for you?
If I quit, it's because of my own decision and not because I am influence of what other gamblers have to say. You don't have to depend to anyone when making a decision and you don't have to listen unless it's for your own good. Like giving advice to have self-control or play in moderation.

This kind of situation will never cease to exist as long as there is no school for gamblers to guide them through their journey to placing a bet. Every gambler is basically a learner on its own, and at some point too, you can learn some things from other gamblers. The question is, what if you are learning from a bad gambler? It means the person can still be influenced. Chasing Losses in gambling is bad, but it's absolutely inevitable in the lives of some gamblers. Yes, I also came across the thread where the student gambled with the school fee. But the worst thing a compulsive gambler can do is commit suicide. It's really terrible to do such a thing.

Commiting suicide is becoming a common thing as people turn to suicide to avoid dealing with their mistakes. The rate of suicide is increasing and an addictive gambler that would have lost all their savings or money they borrowed to gamble could turn to suicide to end it.

There are some online courses on been a profitable gamblers, I haven't taken the courses but have seen lots of reviews of how they improved after taking the courses online. Maybe they're lying or not but those courses can be considered a form of school for gamblers.

There's mentorship in every activity on earth so there would be mentorship on gambling as well but the mentorship might just be about teaching you how to bet still you need to develop your own strategies of betting and depending on your won luck to win when you bet

There's a thread that wants gambler to quit and there goes this thread that has a quote in your hometown encouraging people not to quit or else, they're losers.

Or would you allow your decision to quit gambling to be affected by any popular statement among your fellow gamblers or it's a no no thing for you?
My decision is my decision.

I will not allow someone to get on touch with my decision because I am already a grown up and I know what's best for me. Either someone says that gambling is terribly bad and I may lose a lot of money.

I knew that from the very start but I am not that type of gambler that will allow it to happen.

Or worse, people will start considering committing a suicide and eventually end up taking their own life just like what we discussed here in this forum a couple of weeks ago about a student who used his tuition in gambling activities.

Honestly, it's not really that surprising that gamblers will end up in a situation like these because right from the start, they are already thinking it wrong and chasing whatever what is lost will be the easiest shortcut towards debt and problems. Gambling should be played with a total control over your emotions and setting the boundaries so that problems can be avoided.

Life is to live and we don't have the right to end it. We haven't made our life, our parents have given it and we're living it in the way we're taught and we've learnt. To some extent we'll be under the guidance of parents and guardians, beyond that it is the self learning and the practice that makes the person make decisions. As said losing is common and we should have the mind to accept it. When we go behind the losses to recover it we'll end up losing more and more. The continued losing streak and unable to achieve anything in life makes them end the life. We should not let our mind go to such extent at any situation.

A gambler needs to be clever enough to know when he needs to quit and when he needs to continue playing. Without thinking quitting the games and without thinking keep on gambling is not the solution.

Depends upon the plan of the gambler and the results and outcome of the gambling which helps the gambler to make decision whether he should quit all or whether he should continue gambling.
Not all clever enough but all has the ability to plan before they start. They only need to make sure that they will stick on it. It's not easy especially if you already started in a wrong way but just be patient and endure the pain. You will soon get used to this and hopefully, you will not go back in your old routine anymore. Addict or not, there will be a time where we will stop doing the activity.

To Carry on or doing the activity continuously, is not a solution but it can only cause us a problem. Each has our own capacity but I think it's better stop once we already reach our target or even we lose all our first deposit. Given that it's already a sufficient amount.

Walking away is always difficult because you never know what would have happened if you continued playing but at least you can leave with something instead of nothing.
I do know that this is the better way to be a gambler, playing with your senses to make proper decision for the next time opportunity to come but most of the gamblers who have had to play until they won may not agree to this and that is why we have many losers because the percentage of losers is always higher than those winning in gambling. However, to have a reserve is better than giving everything up and hope for a winning whose chance to achieve is limited.
Most gamblers don't walk away, they simply can't do it because of the urge that keeps them gambling telling them over and over again that they will win in the next few bets which never happens but they still keep their hopes up and keep gambling until they have nothing left and that is when they stop and get away, not because of anything else but because they have no money left to gamble more when they have more money, they deposit and start again.

I've seen a lot of gamblers doing that when they have exhausted their bankroll in the hope that they might hit a big win and recover everything, they simply deposit more if they have money somewhere, and they might even lose that too, and then start regretting, but they just can't stop themselves.

gambling is gambling, so chasing losses is not the option to get back your money. if you want to change your path, better start thinking of quitting. let go of those losses you had, you will get it back by earning it from your job.
but if decide not to stop, this will only be a cycle of losing and winning, and you won't really get the amount that you want.
A gambler must have certain good attributes in order to stay in the game. It's never simple to comprehend things as they are in the system; we have both profits and losses; the issue that matters is which side you choose to be on. Losing is a component of the game, and it is this difficulty that causes most gamblers to stop, causing them to lose completely. Quitting can be advantageous in some situations, particularly when our forecasts do not pan out. Everything in the area revolves around the gambler's decision. Making the critical good choice is essentially what matters.

The more we chase back our losses, the more we lose. And if we can't control our desperations and continue gambling thinking that the next bet will be our luck, that will lead to overspending and we just realized that we got empty. I have had an experience like this before but that time help me realized that we should not fall addicted to gambling because that will ruin our mindset and gambling limits. And many gamblers suffer from this situation because of wrong assumptions and thinking.
In theory, most gamblers understand this. They know that chasing back the losses isn't the right way in gambling, but they still do it because they can't control their emotion. So, this can be avoided if the gamblers have good self control and know how to calm their emotion. That's why casinos set a minimum age for the gamblers, it is one of the preventive ways to eliminate underage who still have difficulties to control emotion. However, in fact, he ability to control emotion isn't only determined by the age. It is also influenced by many factors such as educational background, habits, neighborhood or friends, and many other things. Since there are too many factors involved, even mature people also can be hard to control emotion.

Sure, if we often chase the losses, it makes us be addiction. This way leads us to spend more times and more funds in gambling. At the end of the day, it is possible that we loss everything. Addicts can't have realistic mindset, they only think about more money to spend in gambling. They always believe they can win the jackpot someday.

Moreover, there is no sense in chasing what is already lost because gambling itself doesn't guarantee you that you can really get it back and let's not forget that in the first place, our chances of winning is much lower compared to our chances of losing. Even before we started our bet, even if we thought about it careful, our chances will be the same and the upper hand will not belong to us because that is the reality of gambling.
Yeah aside from luck there's nothing that we can have that upper hand, chasing your loses will only result to another one, that's how it is most of the time, either you'll be lucky and you will continue to proceed instead of quitting or you will experience another loss and you will add more money to your bankroll., If you want to be safe or if you want not to experience more loses better to accept your defeat and forget about chasing your money, there's no assurance that you'll be able to recover it, consider things as part of that hard learning from your gambling experienced.

Not everyone have the mindset. We shouldn't consider gambling as a source to make money. This is where the real problem arises. We can state this in words, but we find it hard while making use of it in realtime. We just gamble for fun and our mind finds good if we were able to win something. This is how gambling makes people to chase what they've lost.

The statment that is being used around the region of the OP is something misleading, because gambling is not the place where one have to be strong to fight and win. It is a place where we need to enjoy with what we can afford to loss and move on.

Walking away is always difficult because you never know what would have happened if you continued playing but at least you can leave with something instead of nothing.
quitting is a choice to win it all. even though it is difficult to stop or even keep trying and always fail or always lose, it would be better to stop betting and leave gambling forever or just for a moment.
when a gambler is able to stop gambling, I say he doesn't lose, but he win against his selfish self and win against the greed he has. gambling will not always have the hope of being able to give big wins even though you have always tried for years but haven't gotten a big win, it's better to find time to think about when to stop everything.
expecting more from gambling is a very bad situation.

I agree with this. It takes courage to quit. It's not an easy task as it seems. The moment you want to quit, you might see yourself going back again and not really making any progress because of lack of self-restraint. That is why I really admire those people who take an initial step to make a difference so their lives could be better. Because once you disregard the warning signs, you might even fall deeper into gambling addiction that could cost you so much if not intervened and treated right.

It's good to recognize when to stop and quit because it just shows that you know how to assess the situation and you care about yourself. Being selfish and greedy is sometimes what most people would do given that they are continuously winning or being favored by the odds. However, things aren't like that everyday. So knowing when to stop is completely necessary in order to prevent bad things from happening such as losing your entire winning or deposit fund.
Fighting one's own urges is one of life's most difficult challenges. And of course, there's always FOMO to consider, which can be a major roadblock when trying to kick any habit. Admiration for individuals who can finally stand up and say "enough is enough." Their deeds demonstrate their courage and insight. Addiction is difficult to break free from, especially when the "big gain" keeps you coming back for more, as is the case with gambling. Learning to stop is a skill in and of itself. It doesnt take long for greed to turn today's gains into tomorrow's losses. The house always wins in the end, so its best to cash out while you're ahead.
Each person would really be having that different urge and different level of control on themselves on the time that they would really be on such condition. This is why it would really vary on a certain individual.Quitting isnt a problem or something necessary if you arent that making gambling as your main source of income or simply making yourself that addicted because this is where people would usually be ending up on a disaster on the time that they would really be having those kind of intents and condition on which they would really be deciding on quitting on the time that they are experiencing difficulties when it comes to finances.
This is why its really that very important that you shouldn't really be making yourself ending up with this situation on the time that you do gambling, always set out limits and wont really be going overboard
about with those intents because this would be the main sole reason on why people getting messed up with their lives.

There's a popular  remark among gamblers in the part of  my country I reside. The saying is expressed like this "if you quit that's when you lose".  They use this statement to encourage and give futuristic hope to themselves that no matter how much they loss today or how many wagers they have lost they don't need to quit as it's possible you may be the next jackpot winner tomorrow.
If I can attest to exactly the same thing you wrote, I'd say there wasn't any certainty to that mentioned scenerio... You made use of a modal verb - "MAY" which doesn't infer any certainty as I said earlier - so what they keep saying is PROBABLY True BUT not, I repeat NOT GUARANTEED..
everyone is made to face Thier fears in life - how about if yours is actually - losing for every single time, on every speculations?? And I'm sure yunno that anyone that's encouraged by others to conquer his WORST fears is always left to face his fate alone, not even the motivators would come for consolations.. so what's the wisdom in that??

That statement is false and misleading. The only similar statement I have read which makes sense is when you are in the bear market and you are holding bitcoin. You only lose when you sell at lose.
Come to gambling, the statement is erroneous but somehow universal.
A man told me that the only way to get money is to continue chasing money with money and how to chase the money is to gamble. That every gambler has a winning day.

A catchy one-liner might be somewhat encouraging when you are feeling depressed over your losses but it is not foolproof logic. Not quitting won't make you impervious to losing. Instead, you might actually end up with even bigger losses. Walking away is always difficult because you never know what would have happened if you continued playing but at least you can leave with something instead of nothing.
This is part of a healthy mindset where we don't have to continue playing when our gambling budget has run out, that's why it is necessary to have thoughts like this sentence, we will never know what will happen if we continue to play and are provoked by emotions that make our self condition even more out of control. for example when we experience a losing streak it is best to stop gambling before spending all the money.

Gambling must know when to stop and when to play that's why never gamble if you can't do that, because control of emotions and yourself is very important so you don't fall deeper into experiencing a crushing defeat, winning doesn't mean you have to beat the gambling machine but winning against our emotions and greed to reduce losses, after all stopping playing gambling doesn't mean losing.  Wink
The more we chase back our losses, the more we lose. And if we can't control our desperations and continue gambling thinking that the next bet will be our luck, that will lead to overspending and we just realized that we got empty. Losing is tough and keeping to chase your luck is more tougher. It's not always going to back you up, better to quit than to regret
when you find yourself empty-handed.

Moreover, there is no sense in chasing what is already lost because gambling itself doesn't guarantee you that you can really get it back and let's not forget that in the first place, our chances of winning is much lower compared to our chances of losing. Permit me to disagree with you a little, in gambling in general, I've always believed that our chances of winning and losing is always on a scale of 50/50, this is in general terms though, but then, there are other factors with play roles in either reducing our chances of winning and increasing the casinos casinos chances of winning, two of such factors is house edge and RTP in terms of playing slot games, low or high RTP depends on the selected slot game and also the provider of the game.

At the end of it all, everything still falls back to luck, so even if we have a higher chance of winning a game and still not lucky, the game will still be lost, so luck still plays the most important role.

And many gamblers suffer from this situation because of wrong assumptions and thinking.

And that's the very reason why that kind of encouragement are quotes are being created, to boost you up and try to push you to keep betting and try your luck, but like what you have said the more you try the more chance of losing more money, instead of recovering since you are unsure whether your next bet will allow you to win or it will be the same outcome.

Losing is tough and keeping to chase your luck is more tougher. It's not always going to back you up, better to quit than to regret
when you find yourself empty-handed.
