For me, this works only with investments and not with gambling. In gambling it is a matter of which would be gone first; you money in the pocket or your chance of winning. Indeed there will be that idea or a tendency to win back your losses on a single bet but question is when would that come into reality? Would you be still having enough money to reach that reality? Sometimes it is fine giving up and it is not something to be afraid of especially if you have no assurance of the outcome. Forcing your luck into something is a punch to the moon. Always manage the risk as much as possible.
Apart from all that, it would be better if someone decided to stop, even though the desire to return to the previous defeat with a win is very high but on the other hand we also have to consider that it is very likely that we will experience the same defeat. If someone has money left and decides to bet with high hopes and beliefs that with this bet he will succeed in winning big, but still losses will continue to dominate. Winning in gambling is 1/10, that is, where you will get one win at the expense of ten losses, this is very ridiculous but everyone will not realize it because every time the temptation of victory will always be in their minds. Therefore it is very appropriate to say that stopping is the best choice we can choose, even though it is very difficult to be able to do it, we can start slowly.

Not all quitters are winners and not all winners are quitters. Perhaps if you're into deep into gambling, quitting might actually be winning for you. You get to prevent a lot of unnecessary spending and a lot of possible negative emotions that may arise during your next gambling sessions.

It shouldn't be taken too literal, and that's what everyone should take into account. Quitting something doesn't automatically default you to a loss and that's what people should understand more.

very well-said. this is a very subjective one. for most, quitting is winning as they can put their money to more worthwhile investments and they can focus on what they want to do in life to be a better version of themselves.
i guess most people will agree to totally quit on gambling and live their life outside of it.

Agree to that! It's a win-win for to everyone if you choose to quit, you will be able to use the money too much important things and also your time will use the right way, pushing yourself inside gambling will lead you to addiction and as we all know what addiction can do to a person, better to stay away and forget about that saying'.

You are helping yourself if you choose to quit than to proceed and keep trying your luck, it just leading you to go deep and lose more.

The problem with gamblers which is not limited to only them is that most of them adopt or accept herd thinking or behavior. They conform not because they want to but because they have to feel among the pack and do not want to be left out. If you have 5 group of friends who think that "if you quit is when you lose", you would be the 6th person with that thinking and perspective.

Unfortunately this statement isn't driven by logic but by pure emotions. It is just like the popular saying in the gym, " No pain, No gain", or "Go hard or Go home".

...//.::;

Lol, sorry... Sayings are sayings people tend to use them to cheer themselves up, but as with anything in life, please, common sense.

You're not going to achieve something, e.g.  just because of another saying classic, it is signed very simply: "I decree..." and you add whatever you want to it.

It is cultural, it is individual and then that defines you based on your results, it is you who determines the path based on the knowledge of the things of reality, not a saying.

As these words are motivational, there is no scope to deny it. Because when a gambler gives up gambling after a loss then the loss always stay with him or he will suffer. On the other hand, if he tries to take risks, there is a possibility of getting something big. But these motivational quotes will not be the same for everyone. Because a gambler who has lost his money, no matter how good or bad, cannot gamble because he has no money. Rather, he should be encouraged to take a break.

Now let's take this to a discuss; how correct is this statement? And is there any similar statement like that in your home-country that's popularly used among gamblers to encourage themselves from quiting gambling because they're losing?
Or would you allow your decision to quit gambling to be affected by any popular statement among your fellow gamblers or it's a no no thing for you?

It's a very popular statement here in my place also but commonly in pidgin "na who give up lose". There is sense in the statement but should not be applicable to gambling. Gambling is not a dream to be chase without thinking of giving up, it work for some and fail some. Do yourself a favor and give up honorably if it is not working for you before you give up your life instead of gambling. You're not losing when you give up early but the moment you realize it's not your way but you refuse to give up is when you start losing.

The above statement is a words of encouragement given to those chasing their dreams with difficulty and sometimes think of giving up along the process. It gives strength to keep on moving until the dream is actualized. As a gambler, if you stay glued to this statement, you're definitely deceiving yourself with fake hope that might not see the light of the day.

You only have two options: quit and stop losing or keep playing and keep losing. The choice is yours.

It's best to take a short break and find out the causes of the losses that keep happening while playing. So yes, if I'm having a couple of losing streaks in gambling, it's better to stop because it's a sign of bad timing or wrong way of playing.
and I prefer to spend time researching the causes of my failure and developing the right strategy and playing at the right time, what to do and what not to do if I want to play the next game.
Gambling is attached to luck, but if we play at the right time and play calmly and calmly sometimes the luck is there but it has to stop when luck is on our side even if not much. And most of them are dissatisfied with the wins they get, which in the end keep playing and losing.

This statement is more the suggestion of someone very ambitious to win, and this can be said to be a symptom of someone who is addicted to gambling because they cannot control themselves.

And is there any similar statement like that in your home-country that's popularly used among gamblers to encourage themselves from quiting gambling because they're losing?
Of course, there are, even in every gambling player there are words like this. There are even words like this in my country (If you have won big, don't ever withdraw because it will make you never again) this is also like a suggestion because our account will be marked.

Or would you allow your decision to quit gambling to be affected by any popular statement among your fellow gamblers or it's a no no thing for you?
No, because I am not a gambling addict. When I lose or win, if I want to stop, stop listening to words like that.

There's a popular  remark among gamblers in the part of  my country I reside. The saying is expressed like this "if you quit that's when you lose".  They use this statement to encourage and give futuristic hope to themselves that no matter how much they loss today or how many wagers they have lost they don't need to quit as it's possible you may be the next jackpot winner tomorrow. For it's like say don't quit yet there may be a light at the end of the tunnel.

This is a total bullcrap when we talking about gambling. You will save a lot of money if you will while you are a terrible gamble that loses often times. We all know that house always win due to house edge and human error then prolonging playing just to chase profit will definitely give you more loses than profit or breakeven in time when you win huge jackpot prize.

I’m a regular gambler and already removed the thought of winning in long term when gambling since it’s very hard to do that. My goal now is to have fun win or lose so I make that I always enjoy playing. There’s always a time that I feel upset on loses but that’s part of gambling experience so that I can cherish my gambling win.

If you're not set any target how much you would stop gamble and cash out your winning, you will gamble until all of your money lose. Every game you play has their own house edge, even you're gamble on sport, there's a house edge and not all of your predictions will win. Gambling is full of luck, so you need to control yourself when you're already lucky for making some money, you need to stop because luck isn't always in your side.
Luck is the main attribute we can't do without, these can make us be on winning streak for days or weeks. Luck doesn't matter or depend on our statistics forecasts, rather our ability to have a possible winning mindset specifically pointing towards our games, gambling can be made very easy. We all have our perspective contributions to gambling, always ready to strive harder than ever when we triggered massive gains from the system. Every game have the possibilities to either be profitable or end in loss, the decision is not ours but depending on the system.

Probably the scam saying of all time especially when it comes to gambling. But remember, getting alcoholic is addiction and you can get addicted on gambling too, quiting on it doesn't mean you lose, you actually gain from it, that's a simple logic.

Now let's take this to a discuss; how correct is this statement? And is there any similar statement like that in your home-country that's popularly used among gamblers to encourage themselves from quiting gambling because they're losing?

I wouldn't say it was wrong or right but this probably doesn't fit when it comes to behavior that may lead to addiction. When your whole gambling days are just prone to losing doesn't mean you don't have to quit, that's totally detrimental not just on you but maybe to your circle, you may be in debt because of it. I guess there is in my country and totally this wouldn't differ from other countries on how they put it in perspective. I'd rather quit.

We're already in the year 2023 and people nowadays are more educated than before. Unproven traditional beliefs are becoming obsolete except for those uneducated and people in faraway rural areas.

As for me, there are no-nonsense popular beliefs and statements that can change my mind unless it is well proven.

Gambling is mostly a game of luck so either you continue playing or you call it a day, the chances of winning and losing are still the same. So, we might need a proper budget or time in order for us not to overspend money or time.

From what I observed from this statement is that, many of these gamblers have been misled by this very remark of a hypothetical hope which has liquidated their account.  While some who would have quit gambling long ago still hedge their hope on the idea behind the statement and keeps wagering.

Now let's take this to a discuss; how correct is this statement? And is there any similar statement like that in your home-country that's popularly used among gamblers to encourage themselves from quiting gambling because they're losing?

I agree with that quote "if you quit that's when you lose" but in a different light. I see it like in a way of mastery. Like those legend poker players. Until they fully grasp their strategy, they don't quit. The persistently and consistently challenging themselves to be the best poker player. Contrast to OP's idea which only bases on luck, if you just show up today and not tomorrow, only bet when you feel like it then you won't get the mastery.

It's not that one big win that is you are waiting for. It is the mastery of your own game. So when you quit, that's when you lose.

I would alter this statement to say, “If you quit having fun, that’s when you lose.” In the end it is important to remember that gambling is a form of entertainment and the purpose for entertainment is to have fun. Whether or not you leave the casino with more or less money isn’t the deciding factor on whether or not you have fun, and if it is then you are likely to experience a bad time gambling, statistically speaking.

If its what motivates you, you can lose a lot of money its better to be wise than brave, I remember one offline casino with that slogan, they tried to entice people into believing that the only way to win to play is to keep playing, the players ended up cursing who created that slogan because before you win a good amount you already lose a considerable amount of money, if you counted everything you've loss its like a pyrrhic victory you win but another win like that and you'll lose everything, that saying is unacceptable it encourage people to be addicted to gambling.
When gambling its better to have your own slogan or something you keep saying to yourself so you avoid harming yourself and your pocket.

This reminds me of another famous slogan by investors who say that you don't lose until you sell. With bitcoin it actually makes sens because its long term average price always goes up, so selling it is just taking a price offered at the given time, despite knowing that a year or two from that day it's going to be higher anyway. Usually, when it comes to other investments, the market price at a given time is THE PRICE and if you choose not to accept it, then your funds are effectively frozen for an unknown period of time.

I don't agree that quitting is losing. At some point we are forced to quit because we have no more money to bet. It's not our choice but the reality that we have to face.

Gamblers are always having the believe that when they keep on gambling, their will be a day when they are going to hit big amount of money, some of them believe it’s to late for them to stop gambling because of the amount they have lost, but if they keep on trying, then a day will come when they will win back the amount they have lost previously and they will also make good money, that’s why most gamblers are always ending up to be addicted. Gambling is not by force if you know you are losing constantly in gambling, then it’s better you just take a break and wait for another day, but addicted gamblers are always seeing taking of break as giving up which is wrong.

Now let's take this to a discuss; how correct is this statement? And is there any similar statement like that in your home-country that's popularly used among gamblers to encourage themselves from quiting gambling because they're losing?
Addicted gamblers use similar statement in my country just to encourage themselves so that they won’t get depressed but the statement is really wrong and misleading, their is no assurance that if you keep on gambling you are going to win big in a day, so statements like this is really misleading and it has landed lots of people in problem.

Or would you allow your decision to quit gambling to be affected by any popular statement among your fellow gamblers or it's a no no thing for you?
the statement you mentioned is almost similar to this "luck belongs to him who always daring to take risks".
I'm not sure whether the saying that I mentioned and is so popular in my city has been said by other people here, of course words like this are actually very misleading in the world of gambling because they are not appropriate to be applied to gambling and more precisely to be used in developing real businesses.
regarding this kind of saying I admit that there are many gamblers here who take these words of wisdom seriously and always apply them to themselves to seek big wins or luck but not for me because in gambling I will only use realistic thoughts about bookies who always win gambling is just a place to have fun like. so this mindset keeps me from continuing to gamble every day.

despite many popular statements that are trending nowadays I will never be swayed because I don't take seriously about such statements in the world of gambling.
