I thought, we have the same problem. because basically, we also sometimes don't know when is the best time to sell. however, I sometimes respond emphatically that I will hold the coin until it reaches a certain price. however, I will sell it when I need money. as long as it's a good project, I'll hold onto it for the long haul.

I would just tell him to think about it himself and make decision based on their own mind because honestly nothing good coming out of giving away financial advice. if thing doesn't go as planned you'll get blame and if thing go well you're not rewarded so why bother?
But i think you've done the right thing to let him make the final decision himself, though if the coin he's investing to can be considered shitcoin that has potential of rugpull or rather pump and dump market manipulation it's better to tell him to back off and sell the coin if they're not ready for the consequences.

having a conversation with a friend today , he was asking me if he should sell or hold a coin. i didnt give a straight answer, i just told him the project is a good one that can do well but if you are willing to wait then you can hold but if you need some money then you can sell off. he then replied that he will wait for an additional 25% increase before he would sell off. i think i tried my best to let him make his final decision himself. is there any better way to do this? if it were you, how would you respond to this. ??
Good responses. Or you tell us what coin that your friend hold. And then this forum will tell him if what he do is a right thing or not. I believe some of people in this forum really know about a coin, and if i hold a coin i might be ask in this forum or see what is people response about my coin.

He then will hold that coin forever lol.
Most altcoins usually gets you one opportunity to sell it before it goes dumped and wait for a long time wishing someone would put a hype in it or some pump and dump group pump it or whales pump it.
But your friend doesn't seem like he's needing the money now, just let him be. Who knows, that specific coin might pump in the next few months or years. At least you've made your advice. That's not your money after all, So it's all his decision not yours.

You can do hodl where you are sure that the coin is still undervalued and has not reached a certain point (for example, it has not reached the previous ATH point) or some other factor such as the roadmap/product has not yet been released. If I have a token with good potential, but I feel I can make a profit, then I will sell it

You have been giving the best answer for him. if he was holding a potential coin and there's no doubt to hodl his coin in the wallet consider there is a lot of potential for the coin to go even higher.
let him make his own decision and if his portfolio already surpassed his target and it can sell it anytime as he wants.

I personally will try to do the same like what you have been suggesting for him. That's the best answer that you can give it to your friend.

When it comes to a project that is found among the first 20 on the coin market cap due to their market capitalisation, its best to hold because the bull run is still in her full gear. If one must sell, it's best to sell in bits and take profit as they come. We won't be in the bull for ever, so it's wise to take as much profits as possible.

I would say because we are still in the very early stage of crypto, he should hold if he wants to get rich and provide a better life for his kids. He must have a good coin to hold though. There are several projects out there that really have a good future apart from BTC and ETH. There's also ADA, DOT, VET to mention a few which earns a passive income while hiolding.

Let's see the reality here its really difficult to hold especially if your trading on a daily basis you could easily see your investment going down, when your just a newbie most of the time you end up selling because your just not used to seeing your money going down in a higher percentage.

It's a real stress in the bear market, most of the new investors this day are not used to seeing this kind of loss because they started in a bull market which most of the time your investment are just increasing.

I think the best strategy that you could do here that something that I do is selling a small percentage every time your investment pump, because by doing that your getting sure profit and lowering the risk of your investment and when the bear market comes you have the stable coin that you could cash out and you don't need to wait for another bull run.

HOLD? It doesn't look great this time even the project is so promising but rather to take the opportunity to sell at high. That is actually what we aim for,  buy low and sell high, there is no such HOLD on there. Holding is an option, I use this thing during the bear season but it is not appropriate this time I think.

Many people had been in regret last 2017 because they keep holding, wanting more and more. If I were in that position and your friend ask me, I just to tell him to SELL it and reinvest to another project or you have to wait when it dump.

If it were to be in my own case, the answer given will depend first on the type of coin, this will then be followed by the reason he wants to sell.
Starting with the type of coin, if it's a good one like Ethereum and its likes, then holding would be the best choice and if he have another coin which Ethereum in this case is better than, then selling that one would be better. In addition, the reason for selling is also important; in this case if the reason is to sell a good coin in order to buy another, then it means that, the one he wants to buy should also be good if not better. Also, if the reason for selling is to meet up with financial obligations, then he can go ahead.
A crypto investor needs to consider a lot of factors before selling a coin, most especially when it is a good coin.
And lastly, if it is a shitcoin, then there will be no second thoughts than to sell and use the funds for better coins..

You can also decide in between. If you already are in profit, it would be wise to sell some of your coin while hold on to the rest for a better yield. It's not a good idea to buy and sell at once as you would get multiple moment to decrease your buying price or increase your selling price if you kept trading in small batches. Grid trading with larger limits is a good solution.

None knows about that dude. When you are investing in the shitcoin and you should have taken a short time hodl as the time span to hodl your shitcoin.
So many people were betting on the shitcoin caused by this is the only way for them all to generate a lot of money in a short time.

They are betting on meme caused by doge FOMO.

Its base on what thing that he want to do in the future, if he wont bear hold anymore and want to take the profit just dont regret any possible profit in the future.
But if he is strong enough for it, its better to hold most of them while take profit a small position to reward himself.
Remember when you sell the coin, you lost the first position that you got entry on it.

This is only for a Good Coin with Good Fundamentals & Communities.

Just tell him if he's satisfied with the profit that he's about to take with that project, he should sell. But if he's believing on it in the long term, he should at least hold it and give it a chance.
We're in the altcoin season and this isn't going to last long as long as it's there, you get your profits and don't regret upon selling when you've taken your profit.

May i ask what coin is that my friend? If they have strong coins like BNB, BTC, ETH or top 8 of coinmarketlist better to hold more for future earnings, But if they hold one of the Meme coins out there the decision will take the profit at the right time.
