OP offered 2 days of free mining to anyone, that's probably what's going on with those two guys. But I would agree on this being a questionable deal, OP needs to step up with escrow.

These two guys who said they wanted to join never discussed payment to the OP, what address to send it to, how  much, receive or not.  OP just gave them an address to see a miner going right away. 
Both of the joiners are newbs like the OP. 

This is a very questionable deal.  Especially given no response to the call for escrow.

Would you be willing to consider escrow? I am sure many others would like to see this offered as a service as well. Because let's be fair, it's really hard to judge if you will deliver just from sitting behind a computer screen and having blind faith you will do so.
