Not only in my country but in every country usually people who are young and above are mostly gamblers. People of any age can be involved in gambling when they learn about online gambling platforms in various ways or when they have free time they try to gamble and there are some gamblers who take gambling as their profession. I have also heard that after retiring from his job, the working man gambles to take care of his children. Also I have heard that all members of the same family are gambling at the same time so it is hard to say for sure which age group gambles more but from my point of view I would say that young people tend to gamble more.

Both I think are engaging in gambling. The adoption of smartphones I think contributed to all these siesta moments even in the time when they are supposed to be working.

Social media is more addictive than gambling though, this is where people are spending more time on social media trying to learn what each other is doing. But the casinos are also grabbing attention especially if it's about national sports, people are betting on it online regardless of age.

I agree with you. With the rise of technology that somehow influenced the elderly, they are now discovering ways on how to gamble on their respective mobile phones.

Before the pandemic happened, I noticed that there are lots of middle aged to elderly people who were high rollers in such casino. Additionally, I rarely see young individuals gamble at physical casinos; or if there are any, they rarely stay.

Now after the pandemic, the rise of online gambling has skyrocketed its popularity where everyone seems to try it. Not to mention, even the elderly are now shifting to this method since most online gambling websites made it convenient for them to participate (e.g. simple controls, etc.).

interesting question... I think that mainly in my country (Italy) there is a propensity towards gambling based on "income".
People with a low income would bets more than one with a higher income.

Likewise it is easy to find unemployed (young) or retired (elderly) people who gamble a lot of money, while perhaps those who have a stable job do not have much exposure or they are playing just for fun.
The classic motto "playing for making money"....

In the past generations, like in the 90's most of the people who are retired in the age bracket of 50-65 years old, they are every where in every gambling events. May it be in the casinos or some private places intended for gambling. So, I can say the elders gambles the most during those days. However, when the current innovations in the gambling industries where everyone can place a bet everywhere using their smart phones and computers, I think more and more younger people are engaged into gambling, despite being busy with their day jobs and other extra activities. Majority of the old people aren't techy enough to access online gambling on their own, so most of them will stick to traditional gambling.
I'm kind of amazed by the old people who are really techy nowadays, I mean they can enjoy their retirement and money if they can access the internet themselves and that includes gambling.

Not only with Africa, but what I seem to observe here in my local community elderly people who seek for additional income for their families try find luck from gambling.
This isn't a good mindset to choose with because you can't rely your need from gambling for there's no assurance from the winning expectations.
You can't have both fun and your souce of money to be productive once betting is initiated. You end up losing more rather than winning, so this isn't a good example for your ones who started to gamble their money.

It is a very tough question actually. In India, only permitted form of gambling is in the form of government issued lotteries. But the markup is too high (if the ticket sales are worth say $10 million, then just $1-2 million will be spent on the prizes). And it is mainly elderly people who purchase these lotteries. All other forms of gambling are prohibited, including online gambling. But there are a lot of people who indulge in online gambling. And in this sector, the younger participants outnumber the older ones by a huge margin.

I think still 50:50 in my opinion, here I see elderly people playing in land base casinos, with all their entourage and maids, so it mean they are rich already. On the other hand, there could be some elderly as well that plays online because they don't want to go to landbase casino.

And mind you, online gambling are accessible to anyone, so I guess that will answer that question because everyone can play regardless of our age or color or race. Even if you are from Africa to Asia. You can also look at it this way, for fun and recreational purposes. Those individuals that are old and to say the least have couple of years here on earth, might as well enjoy the best of their lives.

I think it's of tribe let say in gambling it's more recorded that young men I mean the youths and teenage gambles more than the old men, I myself have also witnessed it. Then talking about women putting food on the table well, this not common in our tribe rather a particular state in our country and which is common because I am also experience person who has ones lived that region for so much long and this is not so within our tribes because we do value our women and the men provide for them and for about playing the game called 'draft' is mostly done when they are less busy or had finished their activities for the day.

Yes such thing happen I frequently see elderly men that sits in a joint from morning to night playing games without thinking of going home or being domestically productive rather end up a frequent local gambler. Though it is not applicable to all men to all men though, only few that does that.

It is Common in n Africa yes. And the younger ones gamble more than the elderly ones. In my community the elderly ones has boundaries in gambling, they are only subjected to Lotto games, pools and draft/checkers. But the younger ones are usually playing online games from sport betting sites, and they are always everywhere trying to meet up the struggle of life. So the younger generation are more frequent in gambling expecially advanced gambling.

Elderly gamblers here are betting in cockfighting and lottery. Physical casinos are usually for gamblers who have decent capital and obviously it's not ideal for people who are just earning a minimum wage. That being said, based on my observation, there are many younger gamblers now playing due to the popularity of online casinos wherein anyone can access (even minors) because they're less strict. Easy access and privacy are what makes these younger ones to play online.

All classes of people are seen participating in gambling, especially in rural economy in my country, people in the age group of 50 and above are the most likely to participate in land-based gambling. In the past usually older people participated in card based gambling but now in our rural economy also all classes of gamblers are seen especially school college students, laborers and employed people are also participating in gambling. However, students and working people are the most involved in online gambling, while the participation of older people is much less than that of young people.

I will like to suggest a slight adjustment in the range which is slightly higher in my side of my country, say 19-45years are more active gamblers than age range 45-80years because there are also elderly people who play and gamble regularly on local Player against player games.
I think the economy of the country affects the number of gamblers because in countries where the higher number of gamblers is as a result of some gamblers gambling mainly for making money and not for fun. I would have liked to see where you draw the line between young and the once you would refer to as elderly. It would have been more easier to give an answer with an estimate based on who we do find regularly when we visit the gambling house. As we know it, under age or young once gambling isn’t allowed in most countries.

Hence, adults remains the market movers for the gambling industry. Those with the need to handle themselves, they often sought out gambling for a way out and most times, you end up loosing the little you might think you had. It’s a tough one. In my country, older people within the age of 47-85 are very active gamblers, it has been this way before the age of online casinos. These folks are used to playing checkers in the evenings after work hours or lotto, hoping to win big money. So much so that’s it become a culture in certain areas, it’s common to see older men gambling on a game of checkers. But in terms of volume, I think the younger generation gamble more than older people because they use the internet more and have access to all kinds of gambling casinos and games.

For me I don't think I can conclude whether the elderly ones gamble more in my locality or the younger ones. Whatever we see is just subjective and biased which makes it inaccurate for real.

We can only say one or the other gambles more if we take a statistical data analysis to draw a perfect conclusion using scientific methods but from a mere observation which might be correct it not I can say the young ones (youth) gamble more, but sometimes I doubt myself because I feel like I'm being partial because of some respect which I have for elders even I see that they are gambling I don't really consider it because they are old and my subjectivity doesn't accept it.

In my old environment I see elders play draft every day from morning to late night but whet I don't know is they do stake anything like cash as reward for winners but the habit shows that old people of that specific environment gambles more than the youth.

Every age category is onto the gambling not just now, it has been the case ever since I remember. Recently saw a news that a man lost around 6K while trying to bet cause the site is actually cracking the results and used bots on their own to create fake results in the leaderboards who might be in his middle 40s. Also I saw a teen aged 14 lost huge sum on betting platform which used to be debited from their parents account.

Elderly I guess and probably because they have nothing much to do since they are mostly out of their jobs or retired from their profession. Many of them have their own monthly pension and some are from their children. On the other hand, there are young gamblers as well but unlike with elders, they have other things to do that will occupy their time such as school, or profession, or social relationships. The more you have time to gamble, the more frequent you'd be able to. But this doesn't represent any age, of course it will still depend on the individual him/herself whether to gamble or not despite of schedule and financial capacity. Gambling chooses no race, age, and gender. Exposure as well does not guarantee, although increases the risk, of addiction to a particular activity.

Well, over here where I live in my country, I would say that the younger ones seems to participate more in gambling, than the old fokes, though I still see a lot of old people who gather themselves in a pool shop, lotto shop and so on, for this is the type of games elderly people play over here, the younger ones are more inclined to playing sports betting, casino and slot games mostly online while the older ones are more inclined to offline games which like I mentioned before, consist of lotto, pool, playing card games like "whot whot" and so on, Draft is also among the games the elder ones play, but overall, the youths participate in gambling more than the older generation since their type of gambling is usually online based.

Hardly do we find a young person over visiting open lotto or pool shops, at most, you will find a young person visiting offline betting shops, but this if the person doesn't have a smart phone, or doesn't have access to the internet.
